Wow, this is incredible for just 13 hours. It would have been nice to not have to restart when you fall, but aside from that, I'm blown away (no pun.) The graphics are good, the physics make jumping a challenge. Definitely flesh this one out if you can.
Why didn't you make an automatic restart when you fall ?
Thanks for the wonderful comment, wbobeirne. I wish I'd had the full time for this - it could have become quite a polished game.
LudumDareisCool - There are two reasons there's no automatic restart. I was so busy frantically coding that I never played the game for long enough to find this a problem. And when I did sit down to play it for a decent amount of time, it was too late to add it!
If there's enough interest, I'll probably keep developing this title somehow.
I think you should try and find out if you can be allowed to add a restart button to your entry. They've stated I believe that you can address big completely game-breaking bugs, as long as you don't alter any features. and you can argue no respawn is quite game breaking. Please find out if you can add it, it would make a huge difference!

I get a crash on startup. Looks like a segfault of some sort. Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.
I don't know if it's my lack of skills, but i found it very hard! uhuhuh
Shiny! Very pretty! But for the love of all things good if you are going to make a game this hard at least give us a restart button that's easy to click, like 'R' or space. Also, my guy didn't want to run backwards. Perhaps making the jumps easier at first and then ramping up the difficulty would be nice, and a score (distance traveled) is always nice as well. Adding a story would be nice, re: Bastion.
BurnZeZ - I'm not sure what causes that. I'm on windows 7 32bit, so maybe it's a 64bit compatibility thing. I'll see if I can find a machine to debug it on.
icrisanto - Yes, It's very hard!
bushmango - Those are some neat ideas to expand the gameplay. I've been thinking about how to flesh it out into a full game, and a storyline would definitely help. Obviously a difficulty curve/tutorial/scores/etc would come with more time. The run-and-jump gameplay doesn't seem to lend itself to much expansion though.
wboberirne, LudumdareIsCool, RichMakeGame and bunshmango - I've now added a version to the zip that has a reset button. I felt a little guilty changing anything, but I understand everyone has 500 games to rate, and nobody wants to spend a lot of time waiting for the game to restart over and over.
I loved this, and the level of quality for 13 hours' work is insane :D

Augh. Did anyone else get the feeling that the jump key didn't register even though you clearly pressed it?

The controls weren't too responsive, but the concept is great. hitting derbies which fly upwards helps, but they're too tricky to aim for.

Definitely interesting. The controls are very hard and the background is distractingly fast-scrolling.

This is pretty cool. Graphics are great. Controls are solid (not sure what everyone else was talking about). Really impressive for such a short amount of time.
Yeah ! Feels like some post-apo canabalt ! I would call it The Earth is Falling, because when the sky is fallyng you just escape erh... falling clouds or... falling birds ? I mean here the whole thing is falling. You have to be very postive guy for trying to escape in a situation like this. The effects are great, rain and floating objets are cool !

With tighter control this could be awesome.
