Strangely fun for such a simple mechanic.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD17 → Eviction

Strangely fun for such a simple mechanic.
The graphics are good, and it's fun just to sit back and watch your island be destroyed, but I think that it would be handy if you could aim upwards.
Nice visuals and concept, agree with Ashkin on the controls part, would be more awesome if they were more Contra-esque. Aside from that and the missing audio, it's pretty neato! Would be glad to play a polished version!
Pretty good graphics, though it was a little hard to aim, and the gun didn't feel very powerful. Would've been nice if it at least knocked the bomby things away a few pixels each shot. I really enjoyed the actual level being deconstructed. (I only scored 350!)
Like the graphics and the game mechanic of destroying parts of the world. :)
Could certainly have used some extra features such as two different kinds of weapons, or upgrades, jetpacks etc.
I got really excited when I saw this, because the graphics are beautiful. Unfortunately, the game isn't that much fun - not terrible... I played once through, but didn't feel like trying to beat my score. Part of the problem is that when an enemy is hovering at the same level as a platform, it's very easy to kill, but when there's no surface you can stand on to put yourself at the same height, it's nearly impossible without ignoring all the others. At least if the house platform and the one to its left were at different heights, it would help a bit.
Also, you've used an island as a setting, but only one island, and it doesn't influence the gameplay at all, so low marks for theme.
Love your pixel art, though, and if there were a category for competent coding, you'd get good marks for that too, as it runs well, I didn't find any bugs, etc.
Graphics are good; gameplay is okay but frustrating to hit some robots if they're at the wrong height. I want to be able to shoot upwards.
Music/sfx would add a lot I think.
I really like how chunky the guy's movement is! Aiming I found frustrating.
The bots single minded intrest in destroying your island rather than you made this more compelling than I'd feared it might be. Felt pretty tense towards the end. Nice graphics too. Preeety neat all round, despite feeling in desperate need of audio (have a look at getting as3sfxr going, once setup it's pretty much instant good sound effects for flash games).
Eh, the frustration of barely being able to hit them, and no sound, ruined it for me
Yay, 2175. Thank you for your cooperation :)
Nice idea. Once the platform tiles are missing you can't do anything about the bots in the higher parts. Smart little idea, well made.
Shooting at any given height is hard when you cannot partial jump or aim your shots.
Cool idea, and reasonably fun. My main gripe with this one is that the bombs conveniently position themselves just a bit away from any ground levels. This, combined with their hovering movement, makes them very hard to hit. Ladders help with this, but not in every case. Otherwise, cool game, would be great with some music and sound effects!
Really, really great idea! Excellent graphics. Gameplay is a bit tedious, however.
Pretty cool. Needs sound, though. The controls are a bit stiff, too.
Nice game, once I realized to use the ladders for bette aiming I rocked the island :D
Enjoyed playing this though didn't feel the need to go back for more. Think scoring should have been based more on what percentage you'd kept going rather than just shooting things but I'm nit picking. Enjoyable stuff.
The main issue with it is that there is no real aiming control, so it's practically impossible to kill some bots at some heights. It felt like I really wasn't in control of anything - I was just waiting for my place to get destroyed. Adding in mouse aiming and lots lots more bots would have really helped.
Addicting! It's a bit annoying that the enemies take so many hits that the only way to land enough bullets is to stay on a ladder. I was also surprised by the fact that I could fall through the bottom area of the level.
I liked the art quite a bit. Gameplay was ok, could have used some spice in the form of powerups or something similar.
Nice game, kind of boring gameplay I'm afraid.
Nice graphics!
