| Oct 20 18:29:11 | Pinball "Repair" SIMULATOR | ♥ 1 | Great compo game. It was a fun combination of ideas. The controls are well designed. It was intuitive and easy to get the hang of it. The difficulty scaling felt a little steep. I was doing fine and then suddenly, everything was breaking all at once and I was dead before I knew it! But overall, an excellent compo entry. Well done! | |
| Oct 20 18:39:11 | 10m 00s | GRANNY TECH SUPPORT | ♥ 0 | Funny game. I like the art style. Seemed like I ran into some dead ends at times where the people I was communicating with would go off to do something and never return, effectively soft-locking my progress. Overall a solid and funny compo game. |
| Oct 20 18:44:47 | 5m 36s | Snake Temple | ♥ 1 | Cool game. Definitely has that retro game feel. The audio is pretty great, and I love the game over screen! The difficulty is pretty steep. I tried multiple times, but couldn't get anywhere close to getting the treasure. I would just get swarmed before I could get close. Also the "F5 to restart" didn't work for me. Overall a solid compo game, and very nostalgic! |
| Oct 20 18:54:46 | 9m 59s | Radio Host | ♥ 1 | Interesting game. All the objects look great. Didn't really understand what to do after the generators. Nothing seemed to be intractable at that point. Maybe I missed something? Intriguing concept and a cool take on the theme. I would have liked to have gotten deeper into the story. |
| Oct 20 19:03:35 | 8m 49s | BOGEY OR BANDIT | ♥ 1 | Lots of good tutorial content in the game, which was very helpful. The visuals, especially the menu interaction is probably my favourite part of the game. The audio that is present is great, but it really misses some BG music to help the intensity and the ambience. Very solid and polished for a compo entry. Great work! |
| Oct 21 03:54:03 | 8h 50m | Smash to Begin | ♥ 1 | Haha! That was super fun! At first I had troubles with the controls, but once I figured out that I should be focusing on the mouse cursor instead of the hands, it was a lot easier. I had a good time, but I felt bad smashing all the VHS tapes! I want to save them not smash them! But yet I must smash... |
| Oct 21 04:08:08 | 14m 05s | Primitive Logistics | ♥ 0 | That was fun. I did not have the patience to get all the way through it (the steep hill was tough!), but I like the idea and I felt a real sense of accomplishment when I got past an obstacle. I was taking the slow and steady approach, but I got the sense that if I played with it some more, I would have found some strategies to help speed up the process. Like using the logs to push the cart and stuff like that. There's probably lots of little tricks you could find. And the art is great! Well done for your first submission! |
| Oct 21 21:01:03 | 16h 52m | Use the Shovel | ♥ 0 | Great work. Kudos for being AI free. I love black and red aesthetic. Virtual Boy build when??? |
| Oct 21 21:09:32 | 8m 29s | RetroWare | ♥ 1 | Great job. Inserting VHS tapes and T9 typing really brought me back. I really felt the nostalgia. Great format for a game jam game as well. I enjoyed all the art and the music. Overall a really great game. |
| Oct 21 21:26:05 | 16m 33s | The Lost Rifleman | ♥ 0 | Cool vibe. I found the controls a little frustrating. At first I didn't realize you could aim, and it just felt like the rifleman was a really crappy shot. With aiming it was a bit better, but aiming felt really slow. It also felt like reloading was slower while aiming. Also some feedback about which direction the ghosts are coming from would have helped. I felt like a lot of the time I was aiming at one ghost, and I'd get hit by one coming at me from behind, which was a little frustrating. But your time spent working on the atmosphere paid off as it has a good "lost in the woods" feel. A little more iteration on the controls and this game would be tight. |
| Oct 21 21:38:20 | 12m 15s | Merry & Bright & CRI ≥ 95 | ♥ 0 | Great art. I love the hand drawn aesthetic. The puzzles are trickier than I expected them to be. Limiting the bulbs really makes you think things through. At first I didn't realize your bulbs carried over between puzzles, and I though the third puzzle was just impossible. Eventually I figured it out. All this game is missing is some holiday music in the background. Great work! |
| Oct 21 21:41:27 | 3m 07s | OldInternet | ♥ 0 | Way to make a game! I like the ending. Needs some dial up modem sound effects to authentically recreate the experience of images taking forever to download. |
| Oct 21 21:51:11 | 9m 44s | Ultimate future: spaceship laser adventure, the new-age shooter | ♥ 0 | Very nice structure. The constant stripping away of elements until all that's left is to turn it off and go outside... Brilliant! By far my favourite interpretation of the theme so far. Very well done! |
| Oct 21 21:59:06 | 7m 55s | The Last Tumbler | ♥ 0 | Beautiful artwork. So minimal and yet so expressive. The music was also great. It kept me working on the puzzles until I solved them. Great work. |
| Oct 22 02:48:18 | 4h 49m | Archimedes' Last Stand | ♥ 0 | Love that cover art, and the art in general. The boats looked good. The gameplay concept wasn't too bad, but the difficulty needs to ramp up over time. Either the enemies need to get faster, or they need to start spawning more frequently to make the game more challenging. I felt like I could just keep going forever and the boats never got past half screen. Score tracking would also help give a better sense of progression. While I liked the music, the loop itself was too short and got very repetitive very quickly. You have an interesting take on the theme, and a good foundation that just needs some more iteration to make it really engaging. |
| Oct 22 02:57:54 | 9m 36s | After Anthropocene | ♥ 0 | I like the visual style and vibes. The visuals reminded me of Loaded for PS1. The static feedback for enemy proximity was a good idea with how dark the game is. Even though I couldn't see things sometimes, I still felt confident knowing how in danger I was because of the static. The music is awesome. Very sombre and melodic. I want to just play it on a loop while I work on things. Great work. |
| Oct 22 03:27:00 | 29m 06s | HELL TOOLKIT | ♥ 0 | Interesting game. I never really got the hang of it. Like others, I assumed the switch on the monitor was the on/off switch and completely missed the switch to turn on the machine at first. Even after that, I never figured out how to set the thing up. I would just spawn in a bunch of monsters until they broke down the door and killed me. It was only by reading other people's comments and then watching @annie-owl's play-through that I started to understand how the game actually worked. The audio and atmosphere is really good though. Even though I had not clue what I was doing, I was spooked. |
| Oct 22 03:44:59 | 17m 59s | Right To Repair | ♥ 0 | I got to 9 years and 9 months. I thought I would be able to keep going forever, but then screw goblins completely destroyed me! But my phone lasted way longer than an iPhone would have after everything it went through. The nostalgia for those old Nokia's are almost as strong as the phones themselves! Great take on the theme. Very original and engaging! |
| Oct 22 14:43:17 | 10h 58m | The Athanor Estate | ♥ 1 | That was fun! Really brought back memories of old text adventure games. Great writing. Very clear and on theme. The title screen really sets the tone perfectly. I felt like I was in that creepy old mansion! The text parser worked very well. I ended up getting a little stuck and not quite figuring out what to do, but I feel like that was more on me than the game. I also didn't figure out I could 'look' to get the description of the room again until I tried it after the fact. But I don't think the game being a little difficult to interact with is a bad thing in this case, because that's what the experience was like for those games back in the day. Great nostalgic entry! |
