| Apr 5 15:52:10 | Tragedy on Tattle Row | ♥ 1 | A maddening and infuriating game. Just like in life when you least want it an anvil falls on your head! Capturing the theme completely, despite first thinking you might have this sorted you quickly realise that the best you can hope for is to hold things off for as long as you can. Character animation was well done, as was the level physics. With more time to work on it, it would have been nice to have the music ramp up in tension the closer it got to midnight. Good game. Well done! | |
| Apr 5 16:10:06 | 17m 56s | Disaster City | ♥ 2 | Interesting game. I did have to install a couple of SDL libraries to get it working, though. I liked the monster, even though it was really frustrating when it showed up. I think that the city should probably invest in some aquatic monster counter-measures or, at least, a wall! :) The only real issue with the game is that it became clear early on that you were going to win which removed some of the sense of challenge with it. |
| Apr 5 16:22:36 | 12m 30s | DEATH AND TAXES | ♥ 1 | Really good. Nice looking and polished. Got more satisfying once I realised you could blow the tax inspectors off the building too :) Cut scene at the beginning should probably be skipable and the window breaking sound was pretty loud. The Elvis boss (or tax guy?) walking down the stairs was a great visual representation of the ticking clock and a tension builder. Well done! |
| Apr 5 20:15:03 | 3h 52m | Blasty Tag | ♥ 1 | Cool idea and nice implementation! As others have said, seeing more clearly who has a bomb and who doesn't would really help (especially yourself). It did seem to be an optimal strategy to just hide in a corner until it's all over, though. Well done! |
| Apr 7 00:10:09 | 27h 55m | E P I L O G U E | ♥ 1 | I'm not sure I got this game, but I'm not familiar with JRPGs so that's not really a complaint. The music was very loud and I couldn't find a way to mute it or reduce the volume. There was a fair amount of depth for such a short development period. I liked the sky images. Well done! |
| Apr 7 00:27:40 | 17m 31s | Rest In Pieces | ♥ 4 | This was a really nice and polished looking and the character was well animated. The light glow was a really clear indicator of character visibility. I thought is was really easy and that I was doing really well until I found that the policeman had got stuck on a building the whole time :) Good game, well done! |
| Apr 8 23:13:47 | 46h 46m | Sandwich Drop | ♥ 1 | Really nice looking game. A fun little concept that was well done. All of my comments are really the usual things with game jams that would, most likely, be sorted out with more timed and testing. I felt that the camera movement was too quick and jerky. I think the cut scenes needed and option to skip to the next one once you'd read the text. Well done! |
| Apr 8 23:26:06 | 12m 19s | Stay Afloat | ♥ 1 | Nice little game with good visuals and character control. The interesting variation of the platforms came as a nice surprise. It wasn't always possible to see submerged blocks that you needed to jump too. This meant that initially it didn't seem possible to get across certain gaps. All in all, a fun game. Well done! |
| Apr 8 23:33:42 | 7m 36s | Softness | ♥ 0 | Very nice looking game. |
| Apr 8 23:38:29 | 4m 47s | Gladiatorz | ♥ 0 | I also got stuck on the loading screen. Perhaps you could submit it as an Extra game to give you time to fix it and then get some useful feedback from people who have played it? Good luck with it. |
| Apr 10 21:49:59 | 46h 11m | Morpheus of Mars | ♥ 2 | I'm always amazed at how much other people are able to do 72 hours. There's not much I can say about it that you don't already know as you had more features planned. However, a simple thing is that when you have a drone selected there could be an icon whenever you mouse over something that would show you what the drone can do at that location. Well done! |
| Apr 10 22:20:45 | 30m 46s | Beach Breach | ♥ 2 | Nice game. Well polished for a 72 hour game. I don't even have any complaints or suggestions. Well done! |
| Apr 10 22:27:20 | 6m 35s | Escape from Nowhere | ♥ 1 | Despite the theme being 'Delay the inevitable' I still find myself being frustrated when I keep dying. However, that desire to do better brings you back for more. Has a clear retro aesthetic and a simple but effective mechanic. Well done! |
| Apr 10 22:39:46 | 12m 26s | Rat-Stack | ♥ 1 | Couldn't run using Processing on Linux. Got error: The nested type Scene cannot hide an enclosing type Happy to give it another go, if you can tell me what I might be doing wrong. |
| Apr 10 22:51:10 | 11m 24s | Tide of Rot | ♥ 2 | Nice simple game with an easy to grasp mechanic. Embodies the theme very well. It was a little unforgiving but that might be the point. However, it wasn't clear where the hitbox was for the player. It took a few goes through to establish that there wasn't some kind of health or shield that was depleted before dying. Some shots passed through the character's body and others killed them. I liked the addition of the power-ups, although I didn't get to use many of them as I kept succumbing to the inevitable. Well done! |
| Apr 20 18:44:12 | 235h 53m | The End | ♥ 0 | Really interesting concept and well executed. I liked the little eating animation. However, I had a bit of an issue where I was stood in the ash to clear a bit and then I ate some berries and instantly the map filled with ash and then I died. As, ultimately, you will end up losing it might be better to have a smaller map and faster ash which would make it easier to get from one edge of the ash to another quicker. Well done! |
| Apr 20 19:09:50 | 25m 38s | Defend 'till the end | ♥ 1 | Nicely done. A well executed aesthetic. My only gripe (and this might be personal to me) was that it felt a little frustrating that there were immediately asteroids that I couldn't physically get to in time. |
| Apr 20 19:21:51 | 12m 01s | Battery Assault | ♥ 0 | Fun little game. I got killed quickly at first because I (stupidly) thought the bombs were batteries and kept trying to get them (oops). The only critique I have is that if the number of turns you survive is effectively your score, then perhaps it would be better to end the game when you run out of power rather than have to wait until you are killed (by chance). Well done! |
| Apr 20 19:37:35 | 15m 44s | Invasion of the Sky Pirate Frogs | ♥ 1 | I too had some issues with the HTML version. It seemed to take a long time for the frogs to show up and one time I got through round one without any showing up. I like the concept and it might be that the HTML version is giving me an inaccurate impression of it. Anyway, well done! |
| Apr 20 19:55:21 | 17m 46s | Web of Lies | ♥ 1 | A very different game from what I've seen before, which is nice! The only real suggestions are really down to the limitations of the jam. With more time I'm sure you would be able to add more polish and content. Also, I would have preferred something other than a drop down for the response options. Well done! |
| Apr 21 10:49:13 | 14h 53m | Run for Your Life | ♥ 1 | A really simple mechanic executed very well. A challenging game that keeps you coming back to try again and again. When failure is inevitable it is important to get that balance between frustration and reward and I think you have got the balance about right. With my ability (or lack thereof) having a more forgiving start might have been nice. A well polished game with good graphics and pleasing behaviour/animation of 'the character'. All-in-all, a very impressive and well put together game. Well done! |
| Apr 21 11:10:38 | 21m 25s | Dungeon Escape | ♥ 0 | A solid game for 48 hours. Challenging and replayable. There is clearly strategy that can be learned and employed which rewards you for playing more. A simple, clear aesthetic that presents information clearly. I was, at first, confused as to why I couldn't pick up the things with dollar amounts under them. I had thought that they were the coin pickups as the banana skin wasn't immediately clear. However, it was an exciting revelation to find I could get coin drops from monsters and the banana skins etc. were things you could buy. Discovery is fun, after all. While I could mirror some of the previous comments about balancing etc. I would say that it isn't relevant to a Compo/Jam game. Essentially, you're getting a game to the play testing stage in a weekend. If all that is needed after that is a bit of balancing and polish you have already succeeded. Well done! |
| Apr 21 11:27:23 | 16m 45s | Stop The Watch | ♥ 1 | I nearly voted you nothing for sound as there didn't seem to be any. However, as you had the category there I went back and tried again. Clicking on Options seemed to make the sound start without any further interaction. This also removes one aspect of my feedback: 'some sound and music would be a good addition'. :) A very simple concept that seems too simple when it is described to you. Initially I expected to play one game and then more on but it is compelling. You want to try again to beat your previous time rather than just give up in frustration. Suggestions: it might help to have a countdown at the start. Currently you have to click the start button and immediately click the clock. This feels like you've lost time right away and could be frustrating. Put the clock in the centre of the screen. This is the player's main focus. Music that ramps up in tension the closer you get to 12 o'clock. As with all jam games there is always some polish or balancing that can be done afterwards but getting a finished/workable game within the timeframe is the real goal. You achieved it. Well done! |
| Apr 21 11:47:25 | 20m 02s | Cringe in Space | ♥ 1 | Pure insanity! It knows what it want to be and delivers. That's success in my book. Smooth asteroids like movement of the character and behaviour of the enemies clearly communicated. This may be a 'silly' game but it is a well made one. You cracked my cold, hard exterior and made me chuckle out loud. Well done! |
| Apr 21 11:58:39 | 11m 14s | Inky Towers | ♥ 2 | Very different, which is nice to see. Challenging enough to make you come back for more. A clear aesthetic and a well polished menu UI. It did seem that just drawing large boxes on top of each other was a workable strategy but I imagine there were other workable ones (not including the hamster ball cheat 😆 ). I also had an issue with my lines disappearing after a certain point but there are always going to be post-jam bugs to squash. Well done! |
