| Oct 19 18:49:59 | Losing the Signal | ♥ 3 | I really like the concept here with a simple premise but it's been executed well. Fits with the theme really nicely! I would agree with some of the above comments saying it's a bit too difficult. Possibly some kind of indicator for which lever operates which door might make it easier since you are still looking around but you have an aim of which lever you're looking for rather than running around pulling random things to figure them out whilst not being able to see. It's a really well polished game though! The graphics and sound come together really nicely and create a good atmosphere. Great job! | |
| Oct 19 19:00:52 | 10m 53s | A Frog's Life T_T | ♥ 1 | I'm terrible at anything with timing so I did rage quit at about level 6 but this was a super cute and really fun game! It's well polished with graphics and sound making for a really nice relaxing mood. Occasionally, it felt as though the game wasn't registering my key input but that might have been a timing delay between jumping between pads? If so, I would have liked to be able to jump between with less of a delay especially in such a timing critical game so you can dash across a bit quicker. Overall, fun and simple but well executed! |
| Oct 19 19:12:00 | 11m 08s | Unstabled | ♥ 3 | Very cute, simple little game with a fun take on the theme! The music was nice and didn't get annoying although I greatly appreciate the option to mute since I do get annoyed of repetitive music and I feel like I would have if the game was longer. The variation in sound effects was nice and the bit of feedback from interaction made the game that little bit more engaging and immersive. I agree with some above comments that UI would be nice (although I know can be an absolute pain to do...) Overall, a really fun game and great job! (Especially if it was just a one person job!) |
| Oct 19 19:19:01 | 7m 01s | Cannot Wake Up | ♥ 0 | This was a really cool and interesting game. The graphics and music really created that slightly creepy atmosphere that I was not expecting! I enjoyed when the new animations came in and new music that gave it variation but I think I would have liked to see more of it as some people have said already. However, it is very well put together and polished so I guess you may have needed to sacrifice some of that polish to add in more content with the time constraint so still really impressive! Especially if it was a one person job! Congrats on a really cool game with an great atmosphere! |
| Oct 19 20:24:16 | 1h 05m | Deck O' Discord | ♥ 9 | I really enjoyed this game being more strategy based than most of the other jam games and would have loved to see the extra content in there although I can totally empathise since we've had to cut content in every jam! It wasn't immediately obvious to me that you had to reach the other side so I'm not sure if I missed something but some kind of indicator would have been good! I also couldn't see any advantage to not going straight across but I guess the "metal detector" card would have added that extra strategy in choosing where to go. I love the idea of going for points or a quick time since that definitely increases the replayability of the game! It would have been nice to see a point counter and/or timer so you know where you're at when trying to beat your own high score. The addition of hard mode was great as well adding to that replayability without having to increase your jam workload too much by adding a bunch of new features. The graphics were really nice and fit the vibe of the game really well. The added touch of the animation on the card made the game so much more polished without even being something I noticed at first so love that! I liked the different sounds effects as well which made the game more responsive and engaging. Again, the little touch of even the start menu sound effects. I did find the music a little repetitive although it was nice and soft so didn't get annoying. Overall, really great job making such a polished game as a pair! |
| Oct 19 20:37:00 | 12m 44s | Moonbase Melee | ♥ 7 | Did take me a second to figure out what I was doing but pretty fun after I stopped just standing hitting flying things! I'm not sure how it links to the theme really (more of a stamina meter) but maybe an added line in the "story" would loosely link it to what you were aiming for so it would be clearer for us! Make it part of the lore :P Really liked the vibe of the game and super impressive especially for a compo! A couple of small things that would add to the finished feel of the game would be just adding a little variation. If you have some slight pitch variation every time you hit something and maybe a slight pulsing effect where the circle of view grows and shrinks, little things like that would make it feel more complete and a bit more engaging without taking up to much dev time! Saying that, love the sound effects! They were so cute! Overall, really great entry and polished well! Congrats! Edit: just scrolled up and saw you did a post about the unstable energy so I kinda get it now! Also extra cool with the passive effects of the energy levels. I'd probs whack that in the description too so people know when they go to play the game :) |
| Oct 19 20:49:48 | 12m 48s | Giruffled | ♥ 7 | Well this was ridiculously difficult but absolutely hilarious, and although I only got past level 1 before my uncoordinated ass rage quit, I thoroughly enjoyed it! (Sent it to my friends I'm currently on Discord with coz they asked why I was laughing so much lol) Anyway, very cute little game that looks amazingly well put together. The graphics, music and sounds effects (wheeee) all fit together really nicely to give that cute vibe! The physics of it is also very cool and results in some really cool gameplay. I like the take on the theme which is pretty unique without being too abstract. I usually try and come up with some ideas for improvement/constructive criticism but I can't seem to think of anything for this! It's just so well put together! (Although I might have been able to come up with something later on if I hadn't quit haha) Congrats on a great game! |
| Oct 19 21:03:42 | 13m 54s | The Butterfly effect | ♥ 6 | I really like this concept although I would agree that it may be a little more chaotic than unstable. Took me a second to figure out even after reading the how to play but the pro tip really helped! I love being able to see all the wind flying about so you can physically see the effects of your butterfly placement which is very cool. Personally, I found it a little annoying having to scroll through my various butterflies to select the one I wanted then found moving them around to be sooo slow especially with how quickly territories can be destroyed. For me, I think I would have preferred mouse control where you can click and drag. Maybe still have them move at a set, slightly slower speed (bit OP if you can just insta move them with your mouse haha) but that would have made it a little more user friendly in my opinion. Overall, really cool concept that I imagine has some very interesting code behind it (I'm not a programmer so probably can't really appreciate it) and nice visual feedback. Congrats on a great game! |
| Oct 19 21:19:50 | 16m 08s | Eldritch Horse | ♥ 6 | Can't tell if I'm more disturbed by the game or the fact that I enjoyed the disturbing game... Really great fun forming the abomination and seeing all his pieces fly about! Love the writing too! The almost children's book graphics and tinkly music with the whole barnyard animal vibe contrasted really well with the weird mutations. Can't quite describe the atmosphere you created but you nailed it whatever it was! Charlie the unicorn vibes... The only issues I had were, like someone said before, the slightly strange camera which wasn't ever quite zoomed to the desired level and it was quite hard to control to try and aim for the animals I wanted although that still worked for the chaotic vibe. Overall, really enjoyable, chill game! Edit: I didn't realise this was a compo entry... mind blown... |
| Oct 19 21:37:24 | 17m 34s | They need attention | ♥ 7 | I was terrified by some sound on the second level and had to quit haha. I'm not good with scary games... This felt really nice and polished though and feels really well balanced with the amount of time you can look away. The two puzzles I got to see seemed obvious enough but not handed to you on a silver plate. I like that you were open to interact and move around as you get railroaded in some puzzle games completely negating the puzzle aspect... I like how you split the levels as well in a very smooth way. The graphics and sound really create that tension and atmosphere especially with random cut outs and sound effects when you turn away like they could be doing anything while you're not looking... Terrifying... I usually try to come up with some construstive criticism but I'm struggling since this feels very well put together. Although maybe I would have been able to if I'd kept playing! Overall, really well put together entry! |
| Oct 19 21:50:25 | 13m 01s | BALANCING ACT | ♥ 6 | Love the vibe of this game! The transitional animations and sounds really add that extra touch that make a game feel more put together and polished and isn't just cut to next level. The animations were nice but to add that extra bit of polish, it would have been nice to have more visual/audio feedback when actaully hitting an enemy since you could see your bullet thing explode but that was very slow in comparison to the enemy moving away after getting hit so I feel like maybe a punchier animation would suit it better as the enemy gets quickly pushed back. A little sound effect would have been nice too and you can add a bit of random pitch variation to that just for that extra pizazz :) The hit boxes on the bullets felt a little small as well. Felt like I defo should have hit them when I didn't... Very small thing, it was a bit strange that the elevator disappeared after touching it and you would still move for a brief moment before the transitional animation kicked in. Overall, really well put together game where you've clearly thought about the game as a whole rather than just the gameplay itself. Well done! |
| Oct 20 17:57:39 | 20h 07m | Egg Racer | ♥ 5 | This was a really cute game with good simple gameplay but done well! I know you've already had it a lot and I can tell it was a hard decision for you to make but I think just having the sprite facing forward at all times would have been better so you can still go left to catch an egg without insta failing... Other than that, The graphics and music came together nicely to create a chill atmosphere and the sound effects were nice although I would have like more so that the game had a bit more feedback. The game looked great and well put together and the little animations of the eggs to collect and fire etc meant it didn't feel too static but more alive. However, I did feel a bit distracted by the walking animation. It was possibly a little too quick and jerky in contrast the the smooth movement of the egg. Maybe try slowing it down but that's a very minor detail! I can see from earlier comments that there were multiple levels which is nice although I have terrible coordination so rage quit quite quckly although the addition of the funny quotes was great and added to the replayability. They kept me trying a few more times just to read them! Overall, really well put together entry feeling like a full, polished game! Congrats! Edit: just went up to do star ratings and loving the egg pun titles! |
| Oct 20 20:33:07 | 2h 35m | Wobbly Cannonry | ♥ 5 | This was a very cool concept and felt very polished since it was simple and well executed! Really nice take on the theme where you almost want some instability to shoot diagonally (I made the mistake of just trying to stack everything at first and it all just toppling) The animations are very responsive with great feedback which makes the game more immersive and, again, very polished. The contrast of colours works really well againt the plain background. Small things like the screen shake and the little leg movement are almost things you don't notice but wouldn't feel complete without. They made the game feel more alive! With the gameplay being so simple, it was still engaging for longer than I thought it would be. You still managed to give it that replayability with the massive score counter so you were able to try and beat your own score. I think a record of your own high score somewhere would have been great to add to that so you always know what you're aiming for. With time contraints and doing it on your own, I understand you probably wouldn't have had any time for sound but I think it would have really added to this game if you even just had a couple. Maybe one "pew" sound for shooting and an explosion kill sound would have already fleshed it out a lot since they'd be happening a lot (hopefully!). A good trick for sounds like this would be to have a bit of random pitch variation in there as well which makes it seem less flat and repetitive even though you've only added two actual sounds! Overall, a really great game with that fit really well together and felt very complete! Amazing job! |
| Oct 20 20:55:26 | 22m 19s | Soul Quest | ♥ 6 | I really like the idea of the game but it took me a little while to figure out! A little more explanation would be great! The graphics look really neat and clean and well put together. Even the UI fit the whole theme so nicely! Whilst I loved the greyscale aesthetic and it really created a good atmosphere, it made it a bit difficult to notice the recharge timer on the cursor since it blended it a bit too much. Once I noticed it, I got much better! The gameplay looks nice and smooth although, I don't know if it was just a me issue, sometimes when trying to shoot and fully recharged, I wasn't able to shoot at all? At first I thought it was only in crystal form but then it was happening more frequently? (I'm playing in browser if that helps you with potential bug fix at all) Loved the addition of upgrades even though you didn't get time to implement everything you wanted (can relate...). It made the simple gameplay more enagaging and a little more strategic. Also meant that it wasn't purely a skill based game which I like since it means that, if you fail, you can go back and try something different which makes the game more than just a one time play! Overall, a cool and well presented game! |
