Oct 11 00:40:31 Ship It ♥ 1 I love what you were able to accomplish as far as the game feel - it gets pretty hectic and stressful, but in a good way, and the audio definitely contributes to that a lot. Having all the instructions on the game page is really helpful but it's hard to read it all and process it. I'm really impressed by what you were able to accomplish for the jam with this - really great work!
Oct 11 00:57:05 16m 34s Mr.Grind ♥ 1 This was surprisingly addicting! Even after I had gotten most of the upgrades and knew I had pretty much exhausted the gameplay, I still wanted to finish it out to see how much money I could make with everything maxed out. The vibe of the game was great - very chill, good background music, and good basic graphics. The mining sound got a bit annoying after a bit but no feedback to give - this is a super polished LD entry. Well done!
Oct 11 00:59:04 1m 59s itemless ♥ 0 This was surprisingly fully featured for a compo entry. There is definitely some work to be done with the polishing side of things, and the balance of enemies vs. difficulty to survive and build feels like it could use some tweaking, but a lot of that just comes with time. I'm really impressed you made this all yourself. Well done!
Oct 11 01:08:35 9m 31s Better than nothing ♥ 1 This is so good! My team had this same idea for the jam but ended up going with something else. I'm really impressed with how well you pulled it off though - the game is a lot of fun and surprisingly well polished. Having a leaderboard is pretty cool to get implemented for a jam. I thought the gameplay felt good and was fun. The only complaint I had was that it got really laggy when levels were starting and ending, especially near the end. Otherwise though, this was awesome - really great work!
Oct 11 01:22:21 13m 46s A Field of Flowers ♥ 1 Wow, this was amazing. Even though there wasn't much of a gameplay loop, per se, I still played it for probably a solid twenty minutes because of how relaxing and calm it was. I love the background track - it's so good, and really makes the mood of the game. The graphics are really complementary as well. I'm a huge fan - you took a simple concept, made it work with the theme, and made a game around it that is super peaceful and honestly a piece of art. Really great work!
Oct 11 01:28:34 6m 13s Nothing On Frontlines ♥ 2 I'm really impressed you were able to make this all in 48 hours! The core mechanics feel great. The shooting and building work super well, and I'm impressed how easily you integrated being able to switch between the two. The range of buildings was also really cool - I felt like I actually had a use for all of them (and was disappointed when the big pink guy clubbed my healer I had just laid). I think the audio is a bit much - not that there shouldn't be sound effects for shooting (the opposite), but the current ones just feel overwhelming and detract a bit. It would also be nice if there was more of an indicator when you or an enemy get hit - maybe a bit of flashing or something. It was really hard for me to see health bars sometimes because of everything going on. Overall, this was a really awesome game. I'm definitely impressed. Well done!
Oct 11 01:39:48 11m 14s When Nothing Came ♥ 2 Wow, this was beautiful. The overall mood of the game is so good - the music is great (especially near the end), and the hand-drawn graphics are beautiful. I love how evocative it is. It was hard for me to totally follow the message of the story (even though I got it by the end) since there isn't always a direct tie between the current state of the story/what I'm seeing and the gameplay itself. I really did love this though, and am super impressed you were able to create this for a game jam. Well done!
Oct 11 01:43:43 3m 55s Amor Fati ♥ 1 This was really beautiful, which makes me especially impressed since it was for the compo. You crushed it with the graphics and the audio - the game has a really great vibe to it. I was a bit sad that just by clicking as fast as I could I could pretty much beat the game in a few seconds, so there's definitely some room for taking the core mechanic and expanding on it. But overall, this was really cool! Also, great to see some other Godot developers in this LD!
Oct 11 01:46:56 3m 13s Roman & Ownin' ♥ 3 This was really good! The fighting took me a second to figure out but it feels really good. I'm impressed with the mechanics you were able to implement. Our game ended up taking a similar look at the theme (ish), and we used some of the same tools (Godot +1), so it's really cool to see what direction you guys took it in. I wanted to play a few times to see how far I could get, so you definitely got some of the fun factor right. Well done!
Oct 11 01:50:02 3m 06s Crypt Hero ♥ 1 Wow, I'm really impressed with how fully implemented this is for being a LD entry! Really awesome work. There's still a lot of mechanics to be implemented, and there isn't much of a loop currently after the intro, but I think you've got a great foundation here if you ever did want to keep expanding on this. Seriously, this is awesome you got all of this done. Also, love the Dwarf Fortress vibe - not just the ASCII art but even the user interface is a nice homage to that and other text adventures and rogue likes.
Oct 11 01:55:37 5m 35s NOTHING TO LOSE ♥ 1 Wow, I'm really impressed with how good this looks for a game jam, even if you did grab all the assets online. It has a really good feel and runs pretty well online. The mechanics are pretty good - definitely reminds me of some classic CRPGs or ARPGs. It would be really helpful if you could see who was a friend or enemy without having to get close to them. At first, after I had hired the first camp or two, I was unsure of where to go. Also, a lot of my followers would get stuck or end up not fighting, which kind of disadvantaged me. It would also be sweet if the player character itself could fight. Otherwise though, this is a really cool idea and I think you could make a really awesome larger game from it.
Oct 11 02:00:11 4m 34s HONK ♥ 1 Wow, this is one of the most polished games I've seen in LD45 so far. I'm super impressed. It felt really good to play - you got the mechanics down really well, and the animations and feeling of moving were so good. I love the whole idea haha. The graphics are also A+. Definitely impressed that you were able to get all this done over the weekend. The only thing that kept me from playing it longer was that, even though the gameplay itself felt really good, there wasn't much incentive to keep going. The pace of the game was mostly the same, and it got a bit hard to see with all the effects going on. Still though, wow - this is sweet. Really well done!
Oct 11 02:03:35 3m 24s Magic Shepherd ♥ 2 This is really interesting. As a full-time developer who does functional programming every day, i thought the way that you were able to codify that into a game was actually pretty helpful and well done. I agree with the above comment - it's a lot to have to take in and learn just from reading the game guide, and not having a built-in tutorial or examples makes it a bit more difficult. Even being familiar with FP, it still took me awhile to figure out what I needed to do. I think this has a ton of potential and could be expanded into a really cool learning mechanism for FP, though, and am really impressed at how you took this idea and ran with it for LD.
Oct 11 02:10:07 6m 32s The Choice of Life: Middle Ages ♥ 4 This was really interesting! I typically love games like this, like Reign, for instance. I think you did a great job setting up the mood of the game. Both the graphics and the audio are really good (especially a fan of the artwork on some of the cards). I wish there were more events, or some kind of random variation, so it was less of a deterministic path. Still, I played it through multiple times to keep seeing how far I could get and to go back and choose an option that didn't cause me to lose. Some of the choices seemed a bit odd - I'm not sure how some of them would have caused my character to die, and it didn't always feel like I had much agency over what I was choosing. Overall though, I really liked this. I liked the stories you could get by going through different paths, and I think this would be an awesome game if you kept adding more cards and some more variation to it.
