| Oct 9 00:55:57 | The Firebrand | ♥ 2 | This is great! I love the cinematic opening and how the characters are animated. It was exciting to play and see what I would learn from picking each word - I was expecting a straightforward noir-ish mystery, so the introduction of The Children was really cool. I got the normal ending, but I'm very curious about what other endings are possible, so I may have to come back and explore more. Also, my favorite line that I saw was "Someone... saw me?" vs "Someone saw... me?" - I love it. | |
| Oct 9 01:17:41 | 21m 44s | When Nothing Came | ♥ 2 | This is lovely! It has such a strong style/mood to it - there's so much personality in the character animation, and it's really appealing the way objects and words fall into place (and go back if you rewind.) The poetry is evocative and I loved how the words were arranged. And the music is wonderful. I think it's really admirable that you made something so personal and thoughtful. |
| Oct 9 01:41:56 | 24m 15s | Tale of the Toad King | ♥ 2 | This is so stylish - the art is cool (I love the itchio background!) and the voice acting is amazing! I found it a little hard, which is sad because I really wanted to see the whole story! Maybe you could make an easy mode where you can keep playing forever instead of having only 3 lives? |
| Oct 9 02:07:44 | 25m 48s | The Song of Calirum | ♥ 3 | Beautiful style and art - the different symbols for the different resources were really cool, and the art in general was impressive. It was fun to play through and see what would happen, but it felt a little like I wasn't making any progress, just shifting resources around - I guess I needed a more defined strategy? But still entertaining to play and beautiful to look at. |
| Oct 9 02:20:52 | 13m 08s | Bluebirds | ♥ 1 | Cute! I love a happy ending. <3 |
| Oct 9 02:28:03 | 7m 11s | Memory Palace | ♥ 1 | This is a really fun implementation of the memory palace concept! The floating images were so cute. (Though I wish there was some more feedback on which one you're hovering over, since I clicked on a different one than I intended a couple times.) I also had an issue clicking out of the text entry before I had written anything, and I wished I could have gone back to that picture and edited the story for it. But quibbles aside - great job, this is a charming and engaging game. :) |
| Oct 11 01:27:29 | 46h 59m | Fairytiles | ♥ 1 | I love this game! It's a great concept, with a great UI (so helpful to be able to shuffle! and undoing a step was so smooth!) and really amusing writing. It was a great feeling to try a word and be rewarded with something interesting and funny. The achievements are a great addition - I love that you have one for each letter. |
| Oct 19 19:42:40 | 210h 15m | The Reader's Encounter | ♥ 1 | This is awesome! What a great idea. It's a satisfying feeling to figure out the word and very rewarding to get more of the story - I really enjoyed that the new paragraph not only advances the overall story, but also that it comes between the two sentences and gives more context to the sentence you just finished. The writing was engaging, with just the right amount of intriguing details, and the overall feeling was very atmospheric. I also love that it's a game about playing with language and the story is about a reader. |
| Oct 19 20:59:40 | 1h 17m | Start with nothing | ♥ 0 | I think I spent the longest on this game of all the LD games I've tried so far! Very, very addictive in that even though I was frustrated, I wanted to keep trying - it was hard to find new objects but super satisfying to find them! I did manage to "WIN" - based on the instructions I thought I had to get "VICTORY" so it was a pleasant surprise to be able to WIN. (I totally missed THONG so I was stuck on the V...) Word detection felt very smooth to me, but the drill R kept giving me trouble for some reason. One enhancement might be a hint option - maybe it could show an object you can make, but you'd have to figure out what to spell to get that object? |
| Oct 19 21:43:03 | 43m 23s | Words With Foes: Quest for the Lexinomicon | ♥ 4 | This is really fun! It was fun to think of words and to progress through the game. I just wish that I could see the enemy's current health - like maybe there's some strategy to keeping your high-scoring letters for the next enemy if this one's almost dead? Another enhancement would be shuffling the letters in your hand. Anyway, the game is super impressive - very high level of polish. The little blurbs about the letters and enemies were really fun. By the way, my final score was 85 - I got a couple no-vowel hands that dragged me down, but my best moment was when I instakilled one of the devs with "ZOWIE"! 😁 |
| Oct 19 22:57:16 | 1h 14m | You Lose. Good Day, Sir. | ♥ 1 | This is awesome! The gameplay is really fun. It was satisfying to find the right word, but I definitely liked getting all the words I could think of - and being rewarded by clever responses, and I really appreciate that you included a hint in the "incorrect" responses too. The whole game is so full of personality - the armadillo was amusing and it was fun to discover the actual story! My only thought for an enhancement would be to accept keyboard input - that would make trying different words smoother. But overall, I had a big smile on my face the whole time I was playing, great job! |
| Oct 19 23:10:10 | 12m 54s | Word Crush | ♥ 1 | This is a great puzzle game! It's a unique idea that's fun to play, and the adorable art is such a great touch! I think my only quibble is that I could sometimes spell words, like JOLLY or FIRES, that didn't do anything, and that felt a little weird. But it's a great idea and I'd definitely play more. |
| Oct 19 23:35:06 | 24m 56s | Wordplay | ♥ 1 | I like this kind of game! It was fun to try to get new words, but I wish there were some hints or something to give me some direction as to what words would help. I definitely liked the crossword aesthetic. :) |
| Oct 20 00:22:05 | 46m 59s | Second Period Chemistry | ♥ 1 | This is so cute - it's fun to find combinations, and the art is so adorable! |
| Oct 21 02:08:48 | 25h 46m | Wordgeon: The Search for the Blank Tile of Yendor | ♥ 0 | This is really fun! I'm not a great Scrabble-r but I still managed to win - the amount of letters gained from crystal tiles seemed well balanced to prevent me from getting stuck. Great idea - I can definitely see sinking a lot of time into a more finalized version of this game. |
