Aug 13 00:59:43 Outrunning Space! ♥ 1 Heheh, great take on the theme, and very unique! My score: 17.
Aug 13 01:49:48 50m 05s Reply All ♥ 1 Darn Bob kept sending me empty attachments. I was fired, due to lack of RAM. I really like "do not run out of RAM or you will be fired," wish I could have told some of our 3D artists that a few jobs ago...
Aug 13 05:23:24 3h 33m Floorspace Deprecation ♥ 1 Ugh, my mouse finger, so much clicking! Being able to hold down to shoot would be nice. The first time I played, I tried to pick up the orange health power-up that spawned... and... yep, should have read the instructions first ;). I think the sides of the game were cut off, I could run off the right and left edge of the game. Reproduces easily if you run windowed mode and choose any resolution other than (presumably) a 16:9 resolution (e.g. 800x600). Nice, simple concept, and pretty well executed. Music was a nice touch. Gets too difficult too quickly, would rather be worrying more about running out of space and less about just not getting swarmed by baddies =).
Aug 14 02:47:11 21h 23m Acreage ♥ 1 Managed to get 109 on the 5x5, made a statue! Fun game, great concept. Would have been great to have some sound effects.
Aug 14 03:22:00 34m 49s Loot Keeper ♥ 4 Nice tutorial. Great graphics, love the look of this, and love the concept. The few graphics that were pixely looked out of place compared to the other graphics though. Moving items around was pretty awkward, maybe just clicking and dragging would have been easier for the user. I felt like I spent a lot of time just sitting and watching combats. In fact, I'm typing this review as I wait for 4 combats to finish before the next camp site with nothing for me to do. I think it would have made a lot of sense if I could move items around during combats / transitions as well, so I spend less time just sitting and watching. Alternatively, having some numbers for the enemies so I get an idea of how effective or close to death I'm coming would give me something to think about between chests. Love the refrigerator! Sometimes had a lot of difficulty mousing over items, like my mouse would be right in the middle of them and it wouldn't register. I later realized the mouse-over and clicks were per-pixel, not per square! Just having it be per-square would have made it much less frustrating trying to select things, although I appreciated how I could (very rarely) squeeze two items into one square. I made it to Level 10, and haven't taken any damage yet (as far as I've noticed)... I guess I'll go into battle with just a rotten cucumber and see what happens when I die ^_^.
Aug 14 03:42:04 20m 04s Foggy raft ♥ 2 Had a lot of difficulty trying to escape. First game, I just didn't understand the controls - perhaps your text above should read "press space to switch between moving and chopping the deck" - I kept pressing space, and nothing happened other than a slight animation that then stopped, tried holding space, nothing happened, finally, accidentally pressed space, then tried moving, and realized it was switching modes. However, even after figuring that out, I still was unable to reliably escape... I managed to escape once, but consumed all but 2 of my deck pieces in doing it, and then was attacked again the next turn, and, well, that was the end of that ^_^. Looks pretty nice, although some of the graphics (maybe just in the tutorial?) look to be scaled with filtering and look out of place compared to the rest of the great pixel art =). I ended up playing in a tiny window the first time because it looked blurry when maximized, but on closer inspection it seems the actual gameplay all looks great =).
Aug 14 04:08:57 26m 53s TINY TOWNS ♥ 0 Fantastic game, I really enjoyed making it all the way through =). Didn't expect a puzzle game at first, but was pleasantly surprised. Art and sound are all great too.
Aug 14 04:47:35 38m 38s Export Corp. ♥ 1 I restarted 3 times trying to figure out why I was losing health on the export phase, before I realized that it only wanted specific things and not until day 2. If it wanted specific things on day one, that would have made it much more clear. Really great idea, mechanics are solid, controls are pretty good. It's too slow though... I got to day 16, score of 1261, at 100 life, and I just got bored. I never used more than the bottom 20% or so of the warehouse, so never got particularly starved for space, but I could imagine (in about another 30 levels...) it would start getting much more interesting ^_^.
Aug 14 15:17:46 10h 30m Count your Steps (or you will run out of space) ♥ 2 Nice game! I was pretty proud of myself when I beat the 4th room, or thought I did, stepping on the last, green button, but the door didn't open :(. Not sure if that was the end, or a bug ^_^. It would have been nice to know the order of the buttons before walking around, so I didn't have to keep retrying, however on Room 3 I liked that it made me have to choose a slightly more efficient route each time, that I'm not sure I would have came up with otherwise.
Aug 14 22:08:17 6h 50m Gardian ♥ 1 Beautiful! I love the style. Perhaps more purple. I had a lot of difficulty figuring out the mechanics - even when I would beat a level, I would sometimes have absolutely no idea why. Maybe a few levels later I figured things out - I think I was unclear on the sparkles on the ground being where I needed to plant things, and that a single plant could get multiple souls floating on them. Really a lot of levels, impressive amount of content! I think I made it through about a dozen (got to one where I could plant a star-shaped plant that I had no idea what it did, and got stuck there).
Aug 14 22:16:27 8m 10s Orbiteer ♥ 3 Nice concept, simple to understand gameplay, hard to master, well polished. My high score was... 3. I really liked watching everything fall apart when my launch vehicle crashes into a satellite and sends debris flying into other satellites.
Aug 14 22:46:00 29m 33s Corrupted Space ♥ 1 I won! 68 deaths. When I was 25 levels in and was *still* getting introduced to new mechanics... that's a pretty fleshed out game! Why does every game made in PICO-8 look so good? =) Loved the final/victory screen. There was a little too much screen shake, I think, I had to stop playing in full-screen. I think the pick-ups re-spawning/regenerating was a little cruel... a few times I finally, finally beat some challenging level only to see the ones at the beginning coming back :(. I did like that the particularly hard levels had no pickups at the beginning, which was great design.
Aug 14 23:02:33 16m 33s Mindblocked ♥ 2 Great game! I managed to beat all of the levels, though missed the coin on a couple. Some of the level design was pretty great, and new mechanics were introduced at a good pace that kept it interesting. I like the style. I really think it could use an "Undo" key - I often found myself doing the same set of things over and over and then making a mistake and having to repeat.
Aug 14 23:15:32 12m 59s Adware Attack ♥ 1 I'd recommend providing the download as a .zip instead of an .exe - there's no chance I'm giving an executable named "Adware Attack.exe" root administrator access! Luckily 7-zip can extract the files though ^_^. I survived 317 seconds! I found that it was easiest just to drag all of the non-moving windows to the corner, since it didn't involve finding their X. "Out of sight, out of mind!" Exactly my grandparents approach to adware.
Aug 14 23:26:35 11m 03s Please No Home ♥ 0 The intro screen goes away way too quickly, I had to re-launch the game 6 times to read it. I love the difficulty ramp, just when I was worried it might get boring... it got crazy! I LOL'd. Final score 55600. Game is nice and simple, and well executed. Audio was surprisingly OK. Graphics could be better =).
Aug 14 23:38:22 11m 47s Junk dealer running out of space ♥ 1 I love the aesthetic! Really a lot of nice looking art, and the background audio is nice and moody. I found the gameplay to be super slow though... I crafted 5 things, and sold them, but really just spend most of my time waiting for new parts to spawn, never had any chance of running out of space (top was pretty much empty all the time).
Aug 15 00:00:32 22m 10s Civilisation Afloat ♥ 1 Neat game! I made it to a population of around 900 before I accidentally forgot to mine more resources -_-. I think, perhaps, the resource miner shouldn't cost resources, otherwise a little mistake can simply end the game, despite the rest of the city going fine. On the other hand... I probably should stop playing at some point, so thanks! Some feedback on why clicking was doing nothing (not enough money, not enough resources, no power) would go a *long* way towards making the interface feel better. I often found myself clicking and having nothing happen, or having the help at the bottom poking out right over where I was trying to work - I'd move the view, and the click something else, and it would be in the way again. Maybe the help should be in a fixed location, and just make it clear, via a highlight or something, which tool is selected. I like the clean, simple aesthetic, and the gameplay was pretty fun to figure out how everything worked, how many of what I needed, etc.
Aug 15 01:29:22 1h 28m More and More Gravestones ♥ 1 I seemed to get a whole bunch of kings, and paupers, and only 2 regular folk! What a weird clientele. That was simple, and well-executed. Other than trying to go out the closet(?) instead of the front door the first time, I didn't run into any trouble ^_^. I didn't fee like I was running out of space, could just keep digging more and more graves (albeit farther and farther away), although the graves did indeed run out of (affordable) space.
Aug 15 01:37:44 8m 22s Inventorium ♥ 1 That was amazingly good for the complexity - though it might be buildable in an hour, it fits the theme wonderfully, plays pretty well, and feels good, and I haven't played anything quite like it, despite many things similar, of course =). I'd like to have been able to shoot by clicking with the mouse, that would have felt a lot better than the space bar. Took me a while to realize I even *could* shoot =). Having the board shrink whenever you miss a shot seems doubly cruel - I'm *already* down one ammo, so the board will shrink when the guy hits me later, since I can't kill him, and having it shrink twice made it really hurt. I got to a score of 36 on my 3rd or 4th try, had to only fire when I was *really* sure I was going to land a hit =).
Aug 15 03:41:01 2h 03m Final Voyage ♥ 2 Wow! A lot of depth here, lots of units and assets, strategy is pretty deep. I could only make it about 2/3rds of the way to safety -_-. Only thing I would suggest for improvements is having a hotkey for building walls (or, each of the various build menus could have 1-5 select the 1st-5th element). I kept hitting "B, W" for some reason thing it would switch to building walls, and only ever got me half way there ^_^. Check out my game if you want an entirely different kind of real-time star-ship strategy =).
Aug 15 03:51:53 10m 52s Book Crook! ♥ 1 Seems like there's no strategy or choices in playing on all of the sets of bookshelves until the last (you're forced to take every book), would be nice to be able to skip some, or make some interesting choice - a timer as you mentioned would be good. Or you can only take so many books per shelf (your satchel size), and when the timer runs out, you get the crappy books by default ^_^. Graphics were nice, the audio was pretty good, liked the music =). Book names were funny too. Played the web build, worked great!
Aug 15 04:02:43 10m 50s A Strange Sinking Feeling ♥ 1 I missed my bi-weekly Dungeons & Dungeons game because of Ludum Dare, so I thank you for giving me an excuse to roll some dice! Rules clarification: When it says "at any time, you may spend 1d6 sanity points", does really mean at *any* time (e.g. after rolling 3d6 on a strength challenge but before resolving who wins)?
Aug 15 04:42:38 39m 55s Rigid Flame ♥ 1 Very nice! My high score was 24. Really enjoyed it, though I never managed to get any combo bonuses, always died going straight into an incoming bullet -_-.
Aug 15 20:26:30 15h 43m Exodus Terminus ♥ 1 I ended up with $10 for a vacation, and I didn't let that pesky programmer in, I'll call that a win. Two of my neighbors did fail, but, hey, no one's Perfectia. I liked the game, and the fact that it made me compromise (once) on my values... apparently every man has a cost, and that cost for me is $50. Which I then immediately spent on medication when I got shot and bombed... but oh well! Heh, and though *entirely different in all ways*, my game is also about saving refugees ^_^.
Aug 25 23:38:34 243h 12m Zero Grace Megadrive ♥ 1 Pretty great! I got a score of 1160, made it to level 7, had fun =). I often pressed the buttons to turn too late, maybe a bit more feedback on which tile I was on/would turn to would be nice.
