| Aug 3 17:23:40 | Saturnalia | ♥ 0 | While its pretty short and I wish there was a more set in stone ending sequence, this game was FANTASTIC. The combination of music and graphics really creates a great Mood/Atmosphere. It hits you immediately. Its mysterious and also extremely relaxing to play. You REALLY should expand upon this game and turn it into a full fledges point and click adventure. The only thing I'd say needs work from this build would be the Star Connecting Minigame. Currently its just click and eventually you'll find the correct pathway to create a power constellation. Which isn't bad, but it also doesn't provide much of a challenge. Just needs a little visual logic to help the player Suss out what path to take if they think about it a little bit. Like maybe the colors change or the beam becomes weaker or stronger. Something that lets you know you've correctly completed a Stellar Circuit. Otherwise this was top notch. You did loads with very simple aesthetics and mood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7mtXAB11OM | |
| Aug 3 17:32:17 | 8m 37s | Dadoor | ♥ 1 | Other than being a bit rough around the edges I thought this felt like a solid Dungeon Crawling game/engine. I could very easily see this being spun off into the latest top down Dungeon Crawling Hack n Slash, or even a more story driven Action RPG. Im still not 100% sure what part relates to running out of power tho. Do you have to defend the magical stones to either side of the room to prevent the wizard's power from fizzling out? Its more of a somantics question, was mostly wondering if I missed something or misinterpreted the story setting. Otherwise this felt solid. If you refined the abilities a bit, added in some additional skills you could learn, and put together a fun story you'd have yourself a really nice fully fleshed out game. Nice work. I featured Dadoor in my first showcase video for LD39. Apologies that I missed some of your team member names in the developer credit for your game. I will add those to the video description instead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7mtXAB11OM |
| Aug 9 19:03:17 | 145h 31m | Energy Robot - A tale that never ends | ♥ 1 | This was a really nicely put together endless runner. You've got lots of sensible obstacles to avoid that might otherwise damage a small robot. The level gets progressively more difficult as you run faster and need more energy the further you get. Animations seem on point if a bit rough. Good stuff overall. I think my only feedback would be the camera angle could be a bit higher on the screen, or maybe an option to move it around with the mouse. I found it hard to gauge some distances when jumping or moving to line up with a battery. It would also give you a chance to glance ahead at upcoming obstacles and plan out how you want to avoid them, or maybe not bother trying to get some battery because it's too close to a barrier. Otherwise I thought this was solid. It feels like an endless runner I could easily see getting popular on the mobile platforms. The graphics are simple and probably wouldn't lag out a phones graphics. I'd say you should refine this and release it as a full finished product. You could add some skins you can unlock, touch up the graphics and add some more backgrounds, and then toss in a little cute story and you'd be golden. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOz9nNVTS6M&feature=youtu.be |
| Aug 9 19:14:41 | 11m 24s | Low Battery | ♥ 2 | This is the kind of puzzle game I find most approachable. It's less about trying to figure out a specific set of logic and more about deciding how YOU as a player can move around and lure enemies into a trap. So it almost becomes a play your own way sort of puzzle game (though I concede that it wouldn't be hard to make a load of levels that encourage you to lure enemies in one or two specific patterns). I think the only thing I would have liked would be some kind of boss level. Either with a large enemy that you had to lure to it's death, or maybe just a larger level that had a very specific puzzle feel. Then once you complete it you move on to the next chapter with new enemies. Though that was a minor want, the rest of the game felt really solid and I could easily see you expanding upon this concept into a larger game. As the Graphics, Sound, and controls were on point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOz9nNVTS6M&feature=youtu.be |
| Aug 9 19:21:08 | 6m 27s | BATTERYMAN RECHARGES THE WORLD! | ♥ 5 | This was really fun and kinda cartoonishly cute. Its always nice to have a game that quickly sets the stage with a short little story. The enemies felt very on point and super accurate to the times we live in today. As a bunch of technology addicted zombies that crave power to play on their smartphones. Etc. I don't have a lot of specific feedback for this one. It feels super solid and like a more or less complete game. The only thing I can think of would be to add some more variation in the enemy's appearance. Like a crab walking/spider looking creature that used to be a power in a power chair could be fun. I would say you should definitely expand this game a bit with more story and more levels. It's got just the right amount of cartoonish humor, a fun zappy superhero, and simplistic graphics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOz9nNVTS6M&feature=youtu.be |
| Aug 12 00:38:21 | 53h 17m | Running the Marathon | ♥ 1 | Well you weren't kiddin. This one was pretty darn long. I like the idea of having to time your movements for a very long marathon. I just sort of wish there was a little more going on in the game. Maybe you could toss in a couple other controls like QWOP where you have to occasionally jump over something or duck under another obstacle. Then you have to maintain your rhythm and also avoid smacking into some other objects. Otherwise I thought this was well polished. You have some simple yet consistent graphics. Sounds that helped you define a tempo and maintain speed. Though some music might have been nice cus listening back to it was different than playing the game at the same time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV0OIfrtqh0 |
| Aug 12 00:54:55 | 16m 34s | daemon | ♥ 0 | The Concept seems solid. Along with some very nice graphics that are sort of sharp around the edges (which fits the setting). That said this was pretty difficult. That might have been by design or just a happenstance of limited time when making a platformer. Either way I would say you have all the right pieces together. I would say the difficulty could do with a slow ramping up if you intend the game to be a harder platformer. Along with adding a bit of a leeway between hits when taking damage. Sort of like when characters flash white or transparent in older games. They can't take more damage until the flashing stops. Otherwise nice work. I like the setting and the graphics. It feels like a good foundation to work from. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV0OIfrtqh0 |
| Aug 12 01:37:13 | 42m 18s | Station 5723: Reactor Down | ♥ 3 | This was nice. It reminds me a lot of playing retro point n click adventures like Space Quest. Though yours had better logic in all the pieces you would need to find. The whole thing took me less than a minute the first time to blast through the first time. I really enjoyed it. I feel like this could make a great adventure game where you have to fix various machines, facilities, etc as a Nuclear Engineer or maybe a mad scientist's Janitor or something similar. Otherwise nice work. I thought this was good. The graphics all fit together well. Good sounds. Logic for the puzzle pieces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV0OIfrtqh0 |
| Aug 22 20:57:56 | 259h 20m | Long Distance Runner | ♥ 1 | This felt like a very well put together endless runner style game. My only issue was that it felt like you would eventually run into enough situations where you didn't have anyplace to go and run out of health. Which made the game start to feel strategic when you began and then its like you got chased into a corner. Dig the art and the setting though. I feel like you could expand this into a larger game if you so chose. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJUjtYyZRuA |
| Aug 22 20:59:51 | 1m 55s | GLOW | ♥ 1 | Really great entry. Feels like one of the most complete packages of the entries Ive played so far in the Jam. You've got a touch of story that gives our bug companion a reason to seek out all of the creature comforts of life. The theme of running out of power was embedded in every aspect of the game, from needing food to interacting via bubbles with the environment. Really good stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJUjtYyZRuA |
| Aug 22 21:03:35 | 3m 44s | Defend Home: Mars | ♥ 1 | Not a bad start to a FPS style game. I dig the setting too. Its like a less maliciously evil set of bugs from Starship troopers. I think my only major feedback is that it would be nice to have some projectiles come out of your gun. It helps feel like you're having some impact when you shoot at the bugs. It also helps to show if you're scoring a hit or not. Otherwise I feel like you've got a solid foundation if you wanted to create a game where you defend installations all over mars from a variety of mutant alien insect. Nice work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJUjtYyZRuA |
