| Dec 7 04:17:11 | too much asteroid! | ♥ 1 | Very classic shooter style game. Avoid and shoot the enemies (Throw rocks in this case) as they mob rush your character. Stay alive as long as you can. Does the theme tie in relate to having more dino babies makes it hard to survive or does the number of enemies somehow relate to how much ammo you have? Not 100% sure. Otherwise the graphics looked interesting and I would be curious to see what sort of story you had in mind for this game during development. Otherwise cool game, I featured it in my first episode of Ludum Dare 40 showcase series. https://youtu.be/DYoYvCeQ9XE | |
| Dec 7 04:21:57 | 4m 46s | Life's A Glitch | ♥ 1 | Straight forward and too the point sort of game. I dig it. It really reminded me of when I had to recover some data from my external hard drive when it started to fail. Like your character is some form of algorithme created to help some computer repair technician recover data from failing computers. Could make for an interesting setting in there someplace if you decided to expand upon this game for the future. That said I think the only major feedback I had from my time playing the game was there really isn't a critical reason to gather the data cubes that spawn around the arena. So you could just dodge glitches and ignore them, which feels like it defeats the purpose but I could be wrong. Otherwise this was a very solid foundation should you decide to add onto it in the future. Nice work! https://youtu.be/DYoYvCeQ9XE |
| Dec 7 04:33:06 | 11m 09s | Dense Revolve | ♥ 1 | Like I said in my video, these game has one of the most solid concepts that relates to the Jam theme. Having a gun whose bullets directly effect the difficulty of the game around you is great. I can easily see that being evolving into a system where you have a variety of weapons which each augment your environment. Some weapons might hinder you when they are full of ammo, some when you're on empty. I think thats certainly an interplay you should explore further. That said I found this game was very solid. It would be interesting to have some context as to why were are doing battle with an interdimensional rift. Other than that the controls are solid, I didn't feel like I was sliding around or having trouble getting the wall jumping to work. The graphics are simple yet on point to communicate whats going on around you. The only thing really missing is more sounds and some music, but I understand that when time is a constraint its often better to just nail the important bits. Which you did. Great work! and thanks again for your shoutout about my video in the blog feed, I really appreciate it! https://youtu.be/DYoYvCeQ9XE |
| Dec 10 20:13:41 | 87h 40m | Peregrine | ♥ 1 | I like the direct approach to the theme of the game jam by making the loot directly effect your ability to platform and jumping around in the game. Ive always thought that games like the thief series were a very solid genre, and this feels like it could be a fun and cartoony take on that genre if you expanded upon the idea of a somewhat blundering thief. That said I felt there was a very big different in difficulty depending on how much loot you decided to try and steal. If you have just one piece too many it really makes the game insanely difficult. So I feel like you may want a more gradual curve in difficulty. That said I thought this was a strong concept with just a few things that I had issues with, which on the whole were pretty minor. Like having trouble clicking on different objects with E. Nice work! https://youtu.be/9JIVCYwaagw |
| Dec 10 20:20:51 | 7m 10s | Necromancer | ♥ 1 | I think you might have an interesting concept here in creating a game about managing a bumbling army of the undead. Maybe you could create a more comedic take on some person out for some type of revenge getting into dark magic only to find out that its not all its cracked up to be, which is why its not widely practiced anymore. That said I found the game a bit... Lacking in something. Im not really sure what it is. I feel like trying to manage a ramble of skeletons fits the theme very well, but I dunno. Maybe it would be interesting if the skeletons did something, even if they don't fight the dogs. Like perhaps your goal is to fighten the towns people, or mess with your school bully. Otherwise I only had some sparse feedback about the gameplay itself. I agree with other commenters that three controls sets between keyboard and mouse was a bit much. Could easily replace mouse clicks with a spacebar press. Along with a few hitboxes were a bit janky and hard to hit. Aside from those last points I think you've got a solid base foundation that you could turn into some type of really deep and amusing game. Provided you're interested in expanding upon the game outside if the Jam. Nice work. https://youtu.be/9JIVCYwaagw |
| Dec 10 20:25:45 | 4m 54s | Garbage Truck Simulator | ♥ 0 | Simple but very original take on the Jam theme. Really dig the idea that the more trash you gather the harder it is to get more. But rather than mess with the game physics or the world, sometimes all it takes is messing with the FOV. I feel like this could be expanded into a critique game or a parody game that takes a crack at the huge simulator genre that exists on platforms like steam. I think it could be pretty entertaining. Almost like a Jazzpunk of the SIM world 2019. That said I can certainly see this game making people nauseous as they play and collect more and more garbage, so if you decided to keep that as a reccuring component then that may be an issue. Otherwise the controls were solid, the sounds were great love when you create effects from a voice, and solid graphics package. Nice work! https://youtu.be/9JIVCYwaagw |
| Dec 20 19:26:46 | 239h 01m | Pierce The Sun | ♥ 1 | This game felt really well polished. All you'd really need to do to put this up on steam is add some more variety in enemies, throw in some additional abilities or powers to solve environmental puzzles, and give the controls a little more finesse and you're golden. Nice work! https://youtu.be/Od8yYFv5wQ4 |
| Dec 20 19:28:58 | 2m 12s | Grammar Dystopia | ♥ 2 | Im sure Im not alone being wary of a game about translating language but this was really fun. I especially love the art style that you put together. Reminds me of those ads I see for the World of Gumball. That kids show where they overlay animation on real world footage. I could very easily see this being expanded as either a kids educational game, or maybe just a humorous take on being a cryogenically frozen person trying to make it in the future. Idiocracy style maybe. Nice work! I think you should build this out and see where it goes. https://youtu.be/Od8yYFv5wQ4 |
| Dec 20 19:57:32 | 28m 34s | Gina's Bed & Breakfast | ♥ 1 | This was an interesting take on the Jam concept. The idea of narratively talking about junkfood and unhealthy diets. I think this could work for a larger game that illustrates how it can often be difficult in life to stick to a diet and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I think my only gripe was that the reasoning behind why you need to constantly eat the burgers felt a little flimsy. If you built upon that more I think you'd be golden. https://youtu.be/Od8yYFv5wQ4 |
