Aah Little Atlantis Darn, wouldn't install for me. Looks very impressive, though.
Hockey Island Ha. <br/>Ha. <br/>Hahahaha. <br/> <br/>Wow. I didn't know what I was expecting. And it was hilarious. I couldn't score any goals whatsoever but I still had a wonderful time. What a brilliant use of the theme.
Traffic Island Okay, so I've had other people with Windows 7 and your version of Java run my game with no problems, so it's not that. <br/> <br/>Have you been able to run OpenGL games before? <br/> <br/>Can you email me at demonpants [at] gmail.com ? Thanks very very much. I'd like everyone to be able to play Zombie Grinder. :-) <br/> <br/>Looks like my PC doesn't have direct X, but I'll find one that'll work for your game, I swear.
Isles of Color Very very well done. Impressive level size, incredible puzzle design. Everything works well. The only issue is that there's not quite enough direction given how much there is to do. But very well done.
Tiny Armada Pretty cool. I killed the red team in about 15 seconds though and then there wasn't really anything to do. Also I never got a win screen even though I took over everything, and it really would help to make merchants automated.
Jealous Gods Pretty good. I like the the gameplay and the idea a lot, but it definitely needs more work before it becomes fun. Pretty much I just held my mouse button down over each island in turn until I won. I got fairly frustrated that only one island would shoot at a time, and worse I would sit there for a few minutes waiting for fireballs to finally stop bouncing off each other. Polish it up and it'll be awesome.
Infinite Deadly Islands Of Terror Fun times, well done. Ended getting a bit boring a couple islands in but overall this is very polished.
No^Man Pretty cool, I thought! The game gets big points for innovation and for graphics, and the puzzles were pretty smart too. I didn't find it terribly enjoyable because the puzzles seemed to be the type where you either get them or you don't - there was nothing to do when I was stuck. Still, this is definitely a good effort.
Monkey Islands Very cool, even though you didn't finish it. The graphics style is absolutely gorgeous. I loved the parallax in the back and the gameplay was actually pretty addicting even though being pretty much a Mario clone. I wish you'd have finished this.
Sky Traders of Jupiter Very cool, you did a great job. Sucks that you overwrote your actual LD version, as I'd love to give you good scores.
Islands: Through the Sweep of Stars Woo! This is very cool. I couldn't get past the skull place (even though I figured out how to view the hints) but I love the style.
Eviction The main issue with it is that there is no real aiming control, so it's practically impossible to kill some bots at some heights. It felt like I really wasn't in control of anything - I was just waiting for my place to get destroyed. Adding in mouse aiming and lots lots more bots would have really helped.
Mauritius Good stuff, quite fun. I managed to make it all the way to the right end of the screen and killed myself on purpose. Could have maybe been a bit more complex in terms of play options, but well done.
Pirate Panic Very fun puzzler - reminded me of a lot of the games I loved as a kid (turn-based grid movement). I also liked that it being turn based made it possible to be puzzle-based rather than skill-based; that was a great help. <br/> <br/>By the by, you told me you couldn't launch my game (Zombie Grinder). Can you give it another go? When I originally posted it I forgot to include LWJGL binaries in my build (oops!) so it wasn't playable at all. I reposted (and tested it) last night. Should work now. <br/> <br/>Hey triplefox - looks like it's trying to detect your mouse and you don't have one (or it just can't find it). I turned off mouse detection and updated the app. Can you try a third time? Much obliged!
Island Rescue I thought this was a good idea and pretty fun, but for me the mixing of genres got pretty frustrating. It felt doubly based on luck and barely based on skill.
Capsize! feat Rep. Johnson vs. DJ Admiral Uh, seems like the gameplay mechanic is to put stuff on the island. And the goal is to keep the island from sinking. So... the more you actually play the game, the faster to lose? I mashed buttons the first time to get a bunch of crap to fall on the planet (evenly so it wasn't tipping left or right) and then it just sunk without tipping. No idea what I'm actually supposed to be doing.
Hairgel Quest Unfortunately I couldn't get it to start - the batch file did nothing.
Attack of the Canvey Island Monster I laughed when I read zez's comments because I was thinking the same thing - the monster is very phallic. Also there is no gameplay - I never lost any energy, and all I did was hold the right arrow and space bar at the same time. After a minute and a half or so the sound was destroying me ears and that was that. I love the concept, but that's about it.
Baby Leviathan: Eat All Fishies I have no idea why so many people reviewed your game, but looks like I'm adding to the pile. I thought the control scheme was interesting, and was never sure whether I liked it or disliked it. I think that overall it just could have used a bit more work. I would feel like I was just steering my snake until I wanted to go in a particular direction and he'd stop, and it would always take me a moment to realize why. The back-and-forth movement of the arrows to make him move was not required and so 80% of the time it would feel like "normal" controls, only to make the other 20% just not work. The gameplay itself is kind of interesting but not particularly exciting. The only reason to go on that I could think of was to see new backgrounds. A good effort, overall, and something that definitely might be work continuing work on.
Island Conflict I win 66 to 21. Pretty fun, I agree that it really could have used more players. Also, the AI is really very good, and the maps are usually such that there's no real way to block an opponent. So I sort of felt like I was more just looking for the biggest island and going there, rather than doing cool stuff to my enemy.
Eyelands I thought this game had really really cool ambience, but the actual gameplay has a lot of very big flaws. I built a fire but it didn't seem to do anything except keeping me from getting insta-killed, when the islanders finally came I was able to throw spears (after spending a long time figuring out how), but threw them so slowly that I couldn't defeat the onslaught of islanders coming. So there was no way not to die, and the whole insta-death thing is very frustrating.
Island Balance Pretty fun little diversion - good work for two hours. I enjoyed it.
Windsurfing ! Can't run it because my Windows is old. Bummer.
Micro Silent Hunter I think this game just needs some more work. There were no enemy ships whatsoever for the first 3 minutes I played, although there were screwed up red lines on the edges of the map and I was able to just sail right over islands. Also I couldn't see any purpose whatsoever to the different view modes.
Island of Darkness I win? I got to the end, looks like. It was funny how much effort I was spending avoiding the purple clouds and turns out they don't do anything yet. :-)
the Traveling Salesman Problem It was pretty fun, but could use a lot of work. I had $1600 and had killed at least 30 pirates and then all of a sudden one of them managed to hit me and I was instantly dead. That means I stop playing.
Dnalsi I just play this because I had no idea where my guy was, how I was supposed to do anything, or what the point was. Eventually I clicked a character who actually responded to my right-clicking, but he was stranded on an island. This might be a good game, but the fact that it is so incredibly difficult to understand (even after seeing the readme) creates a giant barrier to entry.
Floatation Very well done - I played for quite a while. The only issue I really have with this is that there is just one strategy that can win against the computer from what I can tell. At the very beginning, take as many places as possible, then spam one population, make one ship to defend, and once you unlock the medical center just build it everywhere. By the time you have 500+ population on 4 planets there is no way to lose.
Horrible LD17 Game I really didn't think this was bad, actually. Reminded me of typical plane shooters in terms of dodging insane numbers of bullets. It certainly could have used more levels and gameplay, but it's a good start.
Island of Bounty Well. Nice island. Not done, unfortunately. A good start.
Island Warz I can't win - why is it that the islands next to me have huge populations but the bot's seem to be easy peasy? is this to make it more difficult. Also there are bugs where somehow a ship can go past an already populated island, allowing the bot to get past my defense and hit a supplier island in the back, completely screwing my chances even more. Pretty fun overall though.
Floating Islands This is a cool little game - nice and simple and easy to get into. I enjoyed jumping between islands and messing with the physics, it was quite fun. I also had it working via Webstart on Mac OS X. My one critique is that I wish it would have infinite lives and the challenge could be found a different way (like a # of jump target instead), as most of the fun was in experimenting, not in repeating levels.
Pirate-Go-Round Pretty cool, although I didn't really understand how it was supposed to work. Still, it was fun and it's cool to see another Java game in here.
NoNameIsland I don't have python and pygame. Not to go off on a rant, but I really don't understand why so many Python programmers in LD think it's okay not to make a binary. I don't program in Python, and I'm not interested in figuring out all the intricacies of compiling a new language to give your game a try. Make a binary!
Island Raiders Ugh, wouldn't open for me, couldn't find a Python executable? Windows XP here.
Treasure Tub Quite a good entry that would have been perfect with just a bit more gameplay. I loved the style of this and the theme, I just found myself relatively bored by the end.
Ascention Hooray, I win. I thought this was pretty cool. I think the first platform was a bit mean because people don't realize that they're supposed to use that tiny little platform all the way to the right. But this is great fun. Really cool mechanic.
108 seconds of loneliness Pretty cool, but I think it wasn't quite verbose enough on what to do and the gameplay was a bit bland. Overall the difficulty curve was a bit too high. However, it's well executed and feels complete.
