LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

BaconMan by josefnpat 2017-12-08T18:36:03Z

"By the power of Bacon... I have the power!"

This is a funny game! The character made me laugh, and the art-style suits it. Also the SFX add to the funny mood (and I recognized the monsters' growl :smile_cat:). The mechanic is interesting, I think it would work great with gamepad like in "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons". Only the music was annoying sometimes.

Liked the gameplay. After getting the sorting machine it became interesting to pick letters from one or two specific neighborhoods. Then with the Van it became even more interesting to go between houses and return to the Van. Unfortunately it became wa-a-ay too easy with Post Canon: all I had to do was just to take letters from one neighborhood and drive around it. Also after Delivery Fees it became too easy to get the Sorting Machine and Canon, I bought both of them after delivering one full Van. Unfortunately the game crashed before I could deliver all the mail to one neighborhood. The graphics look cute, something like Retro City Rampage.

The lack of any ambiance was disappointing. Also didn't quite catch the theme of "The more you have, the worse it is". With all the upgrades it just became easier to deliver all this mail.

Really liked the game. And deciding where and how to deliver the mail really added the Problem Solving element. I hope you'll continue with this idea and give us full game with multiple towns or maybe whole Tycoon system.

The lost strawberry by egordorichev 2017-12-06T16:47:24Z

Awesome game! Awesome graphics! Awesome gameplay! Feels really brutal with the difficulty and all that blood-like corruption on screen.

Music sounds good, but a little bit of a variety would sound nice. Also I personally didn't like the feel on the ropes. I'd rather have my character stop at it rather than speed through it, because of this I often overshot on the ropes.

In overall it's an awesome game. I hope you'll make full release with even more hardcore levels. And congratulations on being featured on itch.io!

Sushi Factory Frenzy! by jasperarmstrong 2017-12-06T15:39:48Z

I really found it interesting to manipulate both the character and the conveyor speed at the same time. This multitasking was the core fun for me. Graphics are simple, but decent.

Lack of ambiance is disappointing. Didn't quite feel the theme: lots of sushi on the floor weren't much of a problem for me, since I could just wait for the ones I need to appear on the belt. Only in rare occasions when trying to pick the sushi I need from the floor it was frustrating to pick the right one. The biggest difficulty for me was waiting for the right sushi, especially the white ones.

Also add a link to ldjam on your itch.io page, it was hard for me to find your ldjam game page on Google.

Chasing Syrinx by Lugdumdare Team 2017-12-08T18:18:24Z

Awesome graphics! Music is nice, though a bit repetitive.

The difficulty of the levels was a bit off. Few parts were rather annoying than difficult. I didn't have much trouble with it, but you probably saw others struggling. You should always give your game to someone outside the team to playtest.

Overall it's a nice game. It actually looks like something that will have full release sooner or later.

I'm not here by Jiri Hysek 2017-12-05T22:32:32Z

Funny game. SFX made me laugh. Graphics reminded me of youtube animated series about Minecraft. Interesting interpretation of the theme. I liked to manipulate these guards.

I never could understand their line of sight. Where are they looking exactly? Also it was way too easy to outrun them most of the time.

Aatmo by Gaming Night 2017-12-05T21:48:07Z

Good graphics. The characters looked simple, but memorable. Battle ambiance was nice, but before that is was too quiet. Noticed the eyes on the boss, nice attention to detail.

Interesting interpretation of the theme. But for me it was "with sacrifice or without sacrifice". 1 sacrifice and the boss dies with 3 hits, so it doesn't matter if it is 1 or 30 sacrifices. Also didn't feel the moral dilemma. Only the big family made me question my power, but nothing else.

Lack of turbo shooting is disappointing. Dash was never used. Also there's no exit button, this is not good.

Overall it's a nice game.

It took me a lot of effort to finally put this game aside. The gameplay is really addictive, and the progression system supports it: I really wanted to get more power so I could one-shot these dots. Also it looks and sounds very retro, it feels really nice in its simplicity. I can imagine myself in the middle of the night shooting these dots on CRT display. Also you should add some kind of score system besides level progression.

In overall it's an awesome game! Gameplay is simple, graphics are simple, audio is simple, but together they make nice, warm, addictive game. Nicely done!

@jonathan50 some ads install useful software while others install viruses (hence the static).

Sänka Viking - A Viking Warship Simulator by Erlatronics 2017-12-05T22:07:03Z

Really fun game! Liked the idea of changing ship's position after being hit, it really adds to the gameplay! Graphics are simple, but cute.

After battle the game just stays on one screen. You really should either load the menu or suggest to restart the game. Feedback of reloaded canon would be appreciated, something like audio cue. Also any indication of where you're shooting other than small model of canon would be nice.

Cyber Instinct by CyberPunks 2017-12-08T20:02:54Z

Awesome graphics! Nice music. Together it really feels like cyberpunk. And Survival Platformer TD looks interesting.

UI is not that good. Great work on the Energy indicator, but it's not the only problem: lack of any feedback on which turrets are available adds frustration. Also the controls are off. It's hard to control the character, especially when it's low on energy. And with lots of pits it very easy to fall off, which is really annoying.

Also the difficulty isn't balanced. At first waves it can be hard to set up the defenses and survive long enough. And when the last turret is down and you're out of energy for new one - it's basically instant Game Over. But after I've managed to survive 2nd or 3rd wave and set up both Rapid and Heavy turrets - it became so easy I just could stand in one place. In the end whole map was set up with Rapid and Heavy turrets and none of the bots could do anything about it. And sometimes a few homing bots would just float left and right avoiding turret fire, so at this point the game is stuck unless I try to lure them closer to the turrets. Also the Endless Mode didn't work for me, so I had to settle with Level 8 and Score 4355.
