LD39 — Running out of Power

Plugging Away by AfroAnt 2017-08-01T21:44:10Z

Really like the synergy you can get out of a few parts. Radar is essential! If I saw a lot of enemies approaching I could use the beacon or add power to the weapons, especially if I was close to having a laser ready! Great job.

Really impressed with that respawn! Dropping you right back into an infinitely scrolling scene feels great. Controls felt a little floaty (maybe gradually slow down left/right velocity if not receiving input?) but that may be a personal preference. Great job!

Would love to see more modes for level difficulty! Trying to keep up with more than 2 nodes would be great, or more erratic motion, etc.

Some parts of the UI weren't very clear, such as the clock looking one on the bottom center. When my "10 turn"(?) game ended I didn't know why. But the progression and resource balancing felt great.

No Coins Allowed by whooshy 2017-12-07T22:13:23Z

Ah, someone else did the "collecting coins is bad" thing! You took it in a slightly different direction than I did tho.

The level design to have the player in the same position from the end of one level to the beginning of the next is really nice! The wrap around all-on-one-screen look is a very good format, but the barriers between some of those wrap around points were a little unintuitive. I think the coins were a little too easy to pick up?

Overall I really enjoyed it & was pleasantly surprised to see such a similar core theme. :) Well done!

Time Again by Space_man 2017-12-07T06:02:35Z

Very impressive! It took me a bit to get used to the jump distance, but once I had a few loops going I could really see the theme. I was surprised to see the previous loop bullets don't kill current loop enemies? Would open up some interesting strategy if they did, imo. (But then again you could just follow a previous loop I suppose)

Nice job! One thing it really needs tho is better turning. If it's just faster, faster when not moving forward, or even some kind of independent thrusters setup. I was constantly barreling into asteroids & needing to slooooooowly turn away. The hull repair seemed really expensive too, and I was losing more money from my trips than I was making, but I suppose that's my fault for not taking more cargo. :P Feels rather fun overall.

Doesn't seem to run for me? Windows 10.

Watch for Thieves by mandrilltiger 2017-12-07T05:14:49Z

I enjoyed it! The music is a nice chill background, and the damage sound didn't get too annoying. Rather liked the "pick up item" sound and the bombs are very satisfying to use. Ended up cheesing some rooms with ghosts in them. (Maybe having enemy position reset after leaving?) Nice reference to Zelda 1 in the level design!
