LD46 — Keep it alive

So cute! Loved the artstyle, the menu animation and all the little details like the snippet before the game starts.

Couldn't understand the game very well... :((

Perish alive by Lyrcaxis 2020-05-10T02:50:29Z

I think the game looks super cute and it has a nice concept behind it. However, I think it is not very intuitive? I noticed you guys made an ending with text, so I wonder why not focus the effort on a tutorial instead... I really missed one! Had to play twice to get the hang of it, which leads to the next point: balancing. I couldn't 'keep it alive' because the jellyfish kept coming in great waves even before I could have more than 3 rooms built. As mentioning above, making some actions (heal or shoot) automatic and making the game start over automatically after ending would make everything smoother. Overall, really liked the concept and aesthetics, nice job!

I am trapped at the first monster and I've tried anything. :( Also, when I interact with the door, I can't go back.

Plantsitter by FloYams 2020-05-10T03:36:48Z

I personally found the vibe of the game very nice: the artwork is incredible and the song is so calm and casual. However, as mentioned above here, the gameplay gets difficult really fast! So much stuff to do!!! I'm really bad at taking care of plants, so maybe there's that. xD But loved the art and music, no flaws in those in my opinion!

Ant by Nakami 2020-05-10T02:24:49Z

I really liked the puzzles, filled with many different mechanics and interesting outcomes. The pixelated style is super cool, but it made me a bit confused in the beginning to be honest. Also, going out through a tunnel and then falling from the sky felt in the change of levels felt a bit weird. But overall, really nice game! :D Had fun playing.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, but I couldn't take the drop of water in the last level even if I ran through it. Was that intentional or a bug?

@nanoarch @wdelvi @suplup1385 @hundred @khaotom @darriasart @nathan-wiles @shugor @tsugumi @briibot @ddrkirbyisq @notan-lemon thanks so much for the compliments on the art and style. specially you, @ddrkirbyisq, who made one of my favorite games of this edition!

@billehbawb thanks! im glad we met your expectations!

@rooftopdog oh god! as funny as it is, you're not the first to say that! hahah

@parahunter I'm not sure I got what you meant about the fork (I suppose you're talking about the red trident xD)? You mean you thought you'd die from hitting it?

@briibot @nathan-wiles thanks for the suggestion on the tutorial presentation, we'll keep an eye on that!

@fabula-rasa thanks for your comment, we'll pass on the feedback! We're doing our best to evaluate others' game, but apparently our karma raises slowlier since our team is large? Well, thanks for the compliment! Every comment counts. And live long rock n roll!

The Last Flower by Unimaginable_Code_Studios 2020-05-10T00:39:15Z

I played all of the levels, but couldn't beat the last one! So hard. Here are a few things I noticed when playing:

:spy: - The jumping was a little difficult to control - The collision box of the monsters, specially ghosts, are too small. It makes a bit tricky and unintuitive to kill them. - As mentioned above, the camera made it hard to go to higher grounds: part of the reason I gave up on the last level was because I kept landing on obstacles that killed me - all because I couldn't aim my fall because of the lack of sight - This is just a detail, but the particles had a foggy outline that didn't quite match with the overall game style with well defined borders - As also mentioned above, I missed visual feedback for things like dying - The UI looks very small, the contrast isn't comfortable for the eyes - The text in the tutorial and storyline could've been either a) inside a box or b) broken down into smaller chunks. That's because the blocks of text were too large and, again, the yellow of the text didn't give it enough contrast, making it uncomfortable to read

  :sparkles: - I really liked that in the tutorial area you can test the controls - I actually love that you have a tutorial at all... I think it rly makes a difference! - You made whole 6 levels that have variation and kind of escalate in difficulty - The concept of a knight saving a flower is just so freaking cute - The choice of the art was super on point - Really incredible and astounishing that you made this while being only 11! Really amazing work. Keep up with it, would love to see more of your work in the next jams!

The art is so very cool!

Twist of Fate by Drew Cutchins 2020-04-21T05:34:21Z

Try making a tutorial! It'll ease the experience of the player. Had lots of fun with the particles effect in the bomb. xD

Keep Hope Alive by Vawer 2020-04-21T07:22:01Z

The art is so cute! Some music would make it even better. Got me a few tries to figure out the logic of charging stuff with the light, specially cuz it takes so long.

Flippy Fish by Doot 2020-05-10T04:02:38Z

By far one of my favorite games! It is simple but so fun. I like how everything falls into place together, from the gameplay to the art style and audio. I love particularly how mych of a "cooking mama" vibe it gives me, and I love the tiny details such as the scales on the buttons. Very fun and round game!

Keep It Charged by LaZZyDev72 2020-05-10T00:02:18Z

Very nice game! It is super polished and pleasant to play, the puzzles are quite simple so I didn't need to think a lot to solve them. I really liked the concept of losing-charging battery, so more challenging puzzles would have been interesting. I do understand that level design, specially in a short-term jam like this one, is super hard! Overall I think it's really cool. The art of the game is nice, but I think it didn't match the menu quality so much... I think even a snapshot of the game would've been cooler than what the menu looks like.

Someone up here said the memes kind of killed the mood and I agree. But I thought the messages on the wall were fun!
