LD38 — A Small World

C_NFINEMENT R__M by Tselmek 2017-05-11T19:47:27Z

Interesting game ! The mix of the two genres is unexpected. Though I think that having to switch between the arrow keys and the letters of the keyboard is not that intuitive. But It's true that having to type stuff while leaving the caracter alone and seeing this huge walls approaching creates more tension !

The jumping sound is quite annoying xD I think it's a too much hight-pitched sound. For the platforming part I agree with the other commentary, It would be nice to have checkpoints. Having to climb again is frustrating.

Ps: I like that the character is having this small smile animation !

Crumpets and Cannons by Temmy 2017-04-28T11:42:10Z

Hi !

I love the idea of having an intro for that kind of game! It adds more depth to the universe!

However that would have been better with sound & music (I didn't have any sound on my computer, is this a bug or maybe a lack of time ?)^^ also when we loose we have to go over the intro again, in my opinion It's better to loose & restart over right away!

Ps : I like the minimalist game boy aesthetic of your game :)

@jushiip Hi ! :) Thanks for the feedback ! I'll fix this bug for the post-jam version !

@anarbitrarymustache It works fine on my computer, I don't know where the problem can come from :/

@gamepopper Yes you're right! I knew it wasn't the best way to do it, but I had to find a quick solution for the jam ! :)

@fiery-squirrel @csanyk you're both right ! I really need to program a better way to deposit objects !

Thanks for playing !

Ps @csanyk : I think I'll make a post-jam version with fixed bugs ,when I'll have more time ! There are two tiny "secrets" or interaction I would say, I plan to put more of them in this post-jam version !

There is a nice feeling of mystery in this game, the clues hidden in pillars is also an interesting way to discover a new depth to the game. Though I regret that I couldn't control the view with my mouse.

The style is minimalistic but effective!

Since there isn't some tutorial or any explanation it took a few minutes to understand better the game.

I think that the small key explanation isn't right away readable when you are in the opposite side of the planet, also it would gain to be a litle bit bigger.

We had a similar idea for taking houses/buildings , that's quite funny ^^ I really enjoyed seeing how you took advantage of that idea in your gameplay (changing the color of the houses when in an other territory, protecting the city by moving them)

The sound of the bullets firing is a bit repetitiv, maybe it would be nice to change randomly the pitch a litle bit, or any other idea that could make it more confortable in a longer session.

I must point out that the controls were quick and simple to understand.

Ps : I like the movement of the slow move of the stars on the background , it adds some nice depth !

House by Papercookies 2017-04-28T14:12:31Z

Funny atmosphere and music ! ^^

When I walk outside the view I can't come back ?

I like the 1bit style !

( Also I can't download the game on the itchio app, I had to download the zip file on chrome )
