The synthwave grid with a wooden wheel rolling across it is a great clash of old and new, and "FLATTENED - The wheel isn't THAT great. Invent something better!" made me laugh. I got flattened very quickly though and wasn't sure what I was supposed to do to keep the wheel stable, so a short explanation of the controls and the stability bar before the first run would help a lot. Fun idea!

Fun game and a nice idea for old tech! I reached level 19, but I turned too quickly, so my wheel just fell off. It just lacks a clear objective, but maybe that's just me — I'm not really into bullet hell games, for example. Nice submit!

Damn, the concept and game is really interesting

Loved this, once i got spinning it all came together. I was glad to see there is a big boss and that it was !> the peak of wheel stability design!

Thanks for playing!
@gevernus I should have included an in-game tutorial. Always be moving fast, upgrade speed and stability. Also jumping can sometimes help re-stabilize. Sharp turns and attacks from bad positions can put you off balance. It's designed to be a bit of a balancing act, like riding a bike/unicycle.
@mugule There is a "boss" at level 20, which ends the game if you kill it. But yeah, the game is largely just about staying alive and becoming more powerful.
@alextrash Glad you liked it!
@khaotom Haha I'm glad you got that, that's the exact reason I chose it as the boss. To be the best, you gotta beat the best.
Very fun, and surprisingly controllable and easy to learn. I like the music too.
I chose the iron-rimmed spoked wheel since that was the fastest one, and was able to beat the game dying only 3 times or so at the start.

Hi, nice Wheel Survivor! Like the minimalistic look, music and mechanics, good work!

This is the most fun game I've played so far this event. The music was a bop as well. A couple notes:
- My wheel selection seemed to reset every time I lost. I didn't want to go into the main menu every time I needed to retry, so I ended up just sticking to the default wheel design. - The attack seems to work best when spam-clicking into a large clump of enemies, but that means when the upgrade menu appears I immediately accidentally click on something without seeing what it was. - Speed upgrades seemed mostly useless? Going faster just creates more chances to accidentally roll off the edge. - I once got "flattened" while flipping end over end over a pyramid enemy even though I hadn't landed or stopped moving. I think maybe the wheel hub collider is the trigger for the loss and it grazed the tip of the pyramid?

The only way I could keep the wheel stable at the start was by dashing but after a while I got the hang of it. I really like the music!
Impressive to be able to make something like this so quickly. Obviously, the physics being janky is very understandable, but that combined with an instant game over basically whenever anything weird happens is sort of annoying.

@jesus-gonzalez Thanks! Beating the game in only 3 tries is impressive. I was playing it yesterday and was dying more than I expected, so I was worried I made it too difficult
@rekk1d Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
@vorondesan Thanks, definitely "minimalistic" on purpose lol. 3D modeling is not my strong suit. Thanks for playing!
@henk That's awesome to hear, really happy that you liked it! I noticed the wheel selection reset bug too late on Sunday, same with the spam clicking. I think speed can be useful to disengage from dangerous situations and reset. Moving fast does make you more stable to a certain degree, but you need stability upgrades to go along with it. "Flattened" is based on the wheel's angle and a raycast to the ground. You actually made me realize that the raycast position is incorrect when the wheel is on its side, so it's possible to lose while slightly off the ground. Hoping to fix all these in a patch once I get some time
@cogcomp Yeah it definitely takes a bit of practice to get a feel for the game. Glad you liked it!
@khananaphone2 Thanks for playing! Totally agree, I didn't have much time to playtest so I think I could do some balancing and bug fixes. There are definitely parts that felt annoying/unfair even as I was playing it

Very cool game! I noticed only two bugs: sometimes I flatline in midair while jumping and end up losing, and sometimes the wheel randomly takes up the whole screen like its a camera bug i belive it goes inside the wheel. But overall, the game kept me playing for quite some time!
The only thing that eventually stopped me was the music. It's good, but it gets a bit annoying after a while. I'm the kind of guy who prefers playing without sound, so having audio settings would be a nice addition.
Overall, I loved the mechanics and the game idea in general, super fun game. Keep up the good work!

Very unexpected take on the theme. I liked it. It would be cool to visually upgrade the wheel as stats change, but yeah, it's Compo.
The only complaint is that when you get an upgrade while holding down the left mouse button, the upgrade gets selected automatically. Otherwise it was fun to roll and fight. Congrats!

@richard8 Thanks for playing! I usually include a mute button for my LD games, just ran out of time. I wanna fix those bugs for sure.
@bereg Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I wanted some upgradeable wheel weapons and attacks too, but had to settle for a couple different "wheel skins" instead, which are purely visual. Maybe in a future update.

Cool take on the theme, a testing of one of the oldest techs against... shapes? I think there is something here that is a cool game root; although I did have a lot of trouble figuring out how to actually control the wheel. It felt like sometimes it would get spinning around the wrong axis and nothing I could do would re-stabilize it. Like many other comments I ran into the spam attacking resulting in the upgrade selection being basically random issue, making it hard to tell what should have been getting better. I did enjoy the ground pound attack a lot when I could get it lined up. Overall a very fun entry, well done!

The wheel physics is fantastic! Makes me feel like I'm actually trying to control a real moving wheel. And right on top of the theme, the oldest tech that started every tech. Perfect!

Really interesting concept! The gameplay is pretty addictive. A little more variety in the play area and enemies might be nice. Being able to pick a skin for the wheel made me smile :)

Thanks for playing!
@smilewood Controls could have been refined, I think it did turn out pretty difficult. Gotta keep moving fast, upgrade stability, and jumping can sometimes help re-stabilize a bit.
@nitesh My goal was to make it feel like an actual wheel, like a bike/unicycle, so I'm glad that came across.
