Great vibe! Calming but also a little ominous.

Great vibe! Calming but also a little ominous.
Loved the feel of the game. I reckon this could be the foundation of a really good atmospheric story game. Just the tone alone is brilliant. The controls were a little clunky but got used to them quickly. Really wished it were longer.
Great atmosphere, the art style worked really well for it too
The game has a really intriguing, mysterious atmosphere! The setup with running out of gas and arriving at the station definitely pulled me in. I did find the gameplay and UI a bit challenging to navigate at first, so some extra 'quality of life' tweaks would really help the player stay immersed in the story. Still, a very moody and interesting concept! Great job getting it finished for the jam
great vibes :) made me want even more
The atmosphere is set well, the multiple ambient noises and fixed camera position that only rotates to follow the player character. What to actually do in the was beyond me, I spent a while clicking every pixel I could get the mouse to click on and the only things I could pick up was a gas can and water. I could make the player walk down both sides of the road far into the distance, behind the gas station building, and even clip through it. The only change in game state I could notice was the road gate going away when I got water, which did not clue me in to much. Some controls explanation would be nice, even just to say that only left mouse button clicking does anything. Point and click games do have the trouble of having puzzles that can seem weird to solve, so an in game hint system is vital for a player to know they are at least on the right track. The concept seemed interesting, I would have liked to see more of it. Good work on the visuals too!
I think it was a rare gaming experience, but it was interesting. It reminded me of old point-click puzzle games. I can't say it was particularly fun, but the game definitely had a vibe and atmosphere!
@toppervideogames There should have been some tool tips in the top right corner when you hover over an intractable object
@psevdonim It was differently inspired by the old point and click adventure games
Such a moody point-and-click game, I like the overall atmosphere and lonely feel.
However, the main mechanics are hard to understand, I've got myself a gas can and a water bottle and was stuck like 10 minutes trying to find the next clue, until I moved the cursor over the main road and finally being able to go to the main road and met a stranger.
I think having more hints or some types of dialogues would be nice to guide the player in the right directions. But regardless, this is still a unique entry and a good use of the theme, well done!
Great game. The atmosphere and music choices are fantastic!
I would suggest making the selection beep a bit more subtle and quieter, as it can pull you out of the immersion a little. Also, this was probably just a time constraint, but instead of the sphere, a more subtle highlight for interactive objects could work really well.
Overall, though, awesome game. The camera movement toward the church at the end, combined with the sound, felt really cinematic.
@anszwa yes the blue orb was suppose to be less place holder but I ran out of time
@constance yes the dialog probably could have been better for hinting there was a gate that disappeared but on the final build it wasn't that obvious
That's a great start for a point and click adventure game but I think a few things prevent it from being enjoyable. It'd be great if the character could walk a bit faster and/or if double clicking would make him run. I get that the slow pace is part of the mood but since the environment is so huge (especially going back all the way to the right), it's easy to lose interest when just watching the character walk for minutes. Also I noticed that the rollover hints dont't disappear when you hover out of an element, it can be a bit confusing for the player. Apart from that I think the mood is pretty unique and gives a good sense of mystery, good job on that!
Nice mood with the graphics and sounds. The camera panning as you move around is a nice touch. As others have pointed out, moving around feels too slow, and the selection marker is too intrusive. Had to check a hint at one point. Didn't expect that I would need to walk away from the scene to complete it. The theme wasn't integrated into the game.
great atmosphere! I do wish this guy had some sense of hurry, I was able to multitask while i waited for him to walk from A to B.
Others have already mentioned my gripes with the movement and better indicating selectable, aside from that I think you have a great base for a full game here the atmosphere and mood felt good!
this game is like my life lately!
@vicebrother what do you mean by that?
The game was inspired by Beyond Belief by Petra and Desert Rose by Whiteheart
