I see "blacksmith" and I instantly clicked. I've always wanted to play some cool blacksmith game and it's super cool how you incorporated the theme with signal and theme is incorporated perfectly here in my opinion.

I love the concept of a master/teacher that slowly becomes less reliable. It's a humorous and fun design. The removal of signal and addition of noise can really be felt in each level which is well done. The music accompanies the mood well too.

I had a bit of trouble figuring out what was expected of me to get a good score at first.

Does one click as soon as possible after the audio queue starts? or as the word "now" starts? or when the anvil goes green?

I would've given up if I didn't see that @ejunegao seemed to have no problem, and then i figured out that you need to strike "while the iron is hot" i.e. when there are red pixels on the iron. (right?)

So I think this could be explained a bit better, also the player needs some feedback on every hit, to show whether or not that was a good hit.

Once I got the hang of it it was pretty easy, I got >90% for all the levels on the first try, just by looking at the colour pattern on the iron.

With all that said:

- this is a fun an unique interpretation of the theme - I loved the audio and the humour - the graphics and music were great for a compo game - this could have some potential with a bit of tweaks!

well done!

@japes Basically yes. The idea was to first follow the voice "now", then follow the rhythm with the other anvils (as the voice gets unreliable), and finally switch over to the visual "hotness" (since you are left alone). There is feedback on every hit, the sound (you want to get the same as the other anvils) and the amount of sparks (particles) fly after hitting. When it goes green it means it's ready to strike, so that you don't get too much wrong strikes.

I suppose it is not exactly clear which one is good and which one is bad tho

Cute idea. I was a bit confused about whether I was supposed to follow his instructions or just do my own thing (turns out it was the latter). That could have been made clearer with better visual AND auditory feedback when my strikes are working, rather than waiting for the percentage at the end to understand if I was doing it right or not. (I guess it's got particles that show that, but it wasn't that clear to me.)

Very fun! Yeah, took a bit of comment reading - but I do love this idea of 'keep holding on to the signal while other kinds of noise try to throw you off'. Very fitting! Well done

Oh my... this was a fun take on it... not the kind of game I expected when I saw it said "Blacksmith"

Left you a rating :thumbsup_tone1:

Fun little game! I have no idea how you got to this concept from "Signal", but I enjoyed it. Original idea, solid voice acting, cool entry!

jajo 2026-05-03 11:20

Its simple, but honestly the silliness of the voice acting absolutely made it for me. I'd also say the music was really good for such a short track, didn't get repetitive at all.

I think the concept is very interesting! I think this game has a high degree of freedom and exploration. I enjoy getting pleasure and a sense of achievement through the exploration process. I think this game is very suitable for me.

I think the voice signal is delayed in Map 4. Regardless, it's a quick and fun entry. Good job!

ellaris 2026-05-03 19:49

@andriybyelikov Yes, it went from being helpful to being distracting, from friend to foe.

nathmate 2026-05-04 07:35

Agreed with others that the feedback about how close to "on time" a hit was would be more satisfying, or less confusing. I did really like the voice acting but I think some subtitles would've helped, especially to indicate when it's swapping from helping to hindering.

I had a lot of fun with this. The levels are short enough that it doesn't matter if you fail, and it's fun guessing at the completely random requirements for winning. Then the master blacksmith's narrations made me want to finish each level just to hear what happens next. Sadly I never beat level 6, and I don't know why I earned 60% on it.
