A very meditative game. I liked tracking down the beacons by sound, and the slow-paced gameplay with the pleasant music overall. It feels atmospheric and beautiful. Great work!

I love the atmosphere and setting of this game. The controllers are a little unclear but once I got the hang of it, it was a really cool experience! Big props for using your own custom engine code! and double points for a linux port!
I agree with the others. Great atmosphere. The music goes well with this feeling of slowly gliding through space. It's dark, but it's peaceful.
When gliding from beacon to beacon, it often feels like I'm not moving. having some other points of reference, like smaller debris, might give the feeling of movement.
The sound is very fitting for a pilot adrift in space. I wish there was some sort of puzzle or story with each pickup. But there is only so much you can do in a compo. Overall a really nice calm experience!
It's relaxing indeed, the ship moves at a constant speed and ignores momentum is kind off, but the sound effects and vibe is really good, has a really nice 2000s 3d vibe, also like how it is only 2mb cause engine is custom made
@bereg Thanks for the kind words!
> the ship moves at a constant speed and ignores momentum is kind off,
@wo-ri-gou-le indeed, I had a dilemma here ; having realistic physics (no friction, conservation of momentum, need to explicitely decelerate ) here would have made the ship a little more difficult to control (e.g it would be easy to get lost in space), but also, more fun. But I wanted the game to be about calm exploration, more than pilot skills.
Thus I hesitated, a lot, and finally, I went with the "descent" style of controls. The irony being, some ( @mossgames ) have told me "the uncontrols are a bit unclear"
> I wish there was some sort of puzzle or story with each pickup.
@tinykidtoo me too, definitely. I can totally envision the potential for a story here. Some chunks of text providing clues to a story could have done the job , too bad I didn't think of it!
> When gliding from beacon to beacon, it often feels like I’m not moving. having some other points of reference, like smaller debris, might give the feeling of movement.
@pincushion you're totally right here. Finding the sweet spot between a huge empty space and a floating junkyard turned out to be harder than I thought
Using a custom engine is a great experience. This has some limitations and requires some skills, but there's no limit to the amount of control you can have on the final product. So, it's definitely worth it!
Thanks to all of you for playing!
@ace17 idk if you played Outerwilds or not, you can simply add a, holding space button, decreace all velocity to zero slowly, kind of ability, that way you maintained the fun and offers something to save a shitty mistake from out of control
Well, the graphics were awesome. The sound alright. Took so long to get to anything. I think i fell asleep at one point. :D
Nice little game, I really liked the vibes (they suited the simple gameplay really nicely). Super relaxing to play next to some of the harder games in this jam!
The space I was navigating was large enough that most of the gameplay was just staring at a black void and holding W. That said, the game started so quickly it jump-scared me, which is quite refreshing compared to the usual Unity loading screen.
> There’s no support for SPIR-V in WebGL
I admit I haven't looked into it, but isn't WGSL supposed to have a 1:1 mapping to SPIR-V? I'd think you could use that if GLSL doesn't have what you need.
A relaxing, simple game, with enjoyable audio and atmosphere.
By the way, it appears you have some rendering artifacts when overlaying the hud with the distant beacons - the beacons cause the hud to stop rendering where it overlaps. render_artifact.PNG
