I absolutely adore this as a bird owner!

I could only whistle like a cockatiel though, no other buttons/combos seemed to make any other noise. How do I mimic the other birds?

i like the concept and the art!!

xhadie 2025-10-10 08:44

The idea is really innovative and cute! It is such a cute way to learn about birds! I immediately started notcing the bird sounds in my neighbourhood after playing the game!

One way to improve could be to give different birds different colors or to keep identified birds standing on the wall.

Really cute concept!

Hello @ljol3 and sorry for the very late response! We're so glad you like the game, bird owners are the very best welcome  congratulations alsom because the cockatiel call is maybe the hardest to find!

You deserve to know, as a hint, that sequences can be of different length (the cockatiel makes 5 sounds, the Cuckoo 3 and the buzzard 4). The buzzard's call goes up and down twice

Thank you @xhadie for enjoying the game and sharing your feedback and suggestions!! We considered letting the players call more birds at a time, but then our jam time ran out xD

A nice cozy game, it has quite a charming mood, just relaxing and experimenting with different bird calls (though I wasn't very good at it lol). It would be a fun minigame as part of a larger cozy game.

Only the A, D, W, and S keys can be used? Then combine different melodies, I couldn't get the so-called photo P key, maybe I didn't play it correctly?

fiordarancio 2025-10-21 10:27

@kahztein that would be a nice idea, thank you for sharing! @yibirabbit007 you can use P only after you managed to call a bird on the terrace ๐Ÿ˜ƒ and yes, only W,A,S,D can be used to combine sounds for a melody

It's simple, but it's such a cute idea! It really took me a second to figure out how to do it, but once I did I was able to use my ears to collect all the birds. Well done! The graphic style is very cute as well. I think my only critique is that the controls were a little weird -- following the birds with the mouse was sometimes a bit hard, and it was hard to remember which WASD corresponded to which notes. Overall, I had a great time with it! Thanks for making it.

Really original idea! I did manage to call one correctly, which I see as a big win since Iโ€™m completely not musical at all :D

Unfortunately, the bird was gone before I could take the picture :(

Maybe a small visual cue to guide you through the first few birds would have helped a lot to get a better feel for it.

Music and audio is not my strong side so I only managed to capture one bird but the concept is great. Listening to bird songs, attempting to recreate their sound is such a cute way to interpret the collector theme. The graphics are abstract but very well done.

local-minimum 2025-10-22 13:14

I very much like the graphics and the calm relaxing mood of the game. Birds are also a plus.

I did have a lot of problem figuring out the call mini-game, and exactly what the rules were in general. But I managed to snap a couple of photos in the end even though I didn't really know why the birds appeared near me as they did. Or rather, I understand the game logic, I just didn't feel like I was doing anything better or worse with the call imitations when they did.

So there's some feedback there needed for someone like me to grasp and learn from failures in the call attempts.

Very nice looking game though.

Very interesting idea! The picture is very cute. I like the birds. Hearing their various calls makes me feel happy.

chuchugeralt 2025-10-22 14:28

This is a really nice moody game! I love the idea and the art; it's very relaxing.

However, you could improve the feedback in a few key areas. For instance, the birds all look the same when they are in the air, which makes it difficult to distinguish them. I also noticed that the sounds sometimes stopped unexpectedly, even when I wasn't clicking anywhere else, which made it hard to follow. Furthermore, some visual feedback on the notes/tones would be greatly beneficial, as it's quite challenging to mimic a variety of sounds using only the same four whistling notes. These small improvements would make the core mechanic much clearer and more satisfying to play! But its a really unique game that I truly enjoyed!

fiordarancio 2025-10-22 21:19

@cassowary @local-minimum and @chuchugeralt thank you for your critical feedback! It's true, unfortunately we couldn't provide a better feedback mechanism for letting the player understand how to deal with the sequence. I notice many have this problem and the game ends up being harder than expected. As some of you say, just some sound or text on screen to see what you are doing could have helped. As usual, time was against us, but we will try our best to imporve in this regard!

marudziik 2025-10-23 11:08

It is a very innovative title. I like the moody, relaxing audio, and the graphics fit the game well. The scope fits LD formula and the gameplay idea is very interesting

That being said, I agree with some of the previous comments. The visual cues might be necessary, because the sounds aren't exactly the same. Maybe it's a hearing issue, but for me it was very difficult to match the sound of anything other than the cuckoo and (miraculously) the buzzard.

Am I correct that the bird voices actually match the ones in nature (disclaimer: I basically live in a cave; I have *seen* birds - I *like* them - but I do not recognize their sounds at all๐Ÿ˜…), i.e. the game has educational value? If so, even more power to you.

I enjoyed your game. Great idea. Congrats on the entry!

ste-dtst 2025-10-23 23:08

Thanks from my side as well for all your nice comments and suggestions!

I am the one to blame for the choice and design of bird clues, so I apologize if I've gone a bit too far with the difficulty ๐Ÿ˜… I hope that adding some visual feedback in a future release will ease the pain a bit โ˜บ๏ธ

@marudziik we've tried to keep things as real as possible: descriptions are tiny snippets from Wikipedia and each call is taken from a real sample which matches the bird or at least is close. I only pitched the clues to (try to) match the whistled notes.
