Beautiful visuals and a reason to fear seals. What more could I ask for?

Great job yall! Visuals are nice. Friendly Feedback, forgive me if it sounds harsh but I'm just going to dump my thoughts out lol : If your programmer has the time/energy I'd recommend patching up the web version's camera controls because it's kind of game breaking - I think the "warm meter" could be smaller closer to your player model, like Link's stamina meter in BOTW. I don't find the "fetchy" nature of the game to be fun. It was pretty funny to see the seals be a key source of danger, that's unusual and made me chuckle. When returning to the tent I wish the warmth would recover faster. The radar mechanic probably needs a buff, its range is so low its pretty much useless. I think there was an opportunity to use the voice acting to narrate exposition every time you picked up an item. The fail-state is quite abrupt feeling. I wish the music had a cross-fade effect for safe-zone/wilderness.

Best part is the visuals - character design is simple but nice. Well done.

Great job on the entry yall!

@ismael-rodriguez Thank you very much for the detailed feedback! A lot of the thoughts you had were definitely in the works, but unfortunately we just didn't have enough time to fully polish them out; we're students, so we'll try our best to get the gamebreaking bugs and some of the mechanics patched ASAP (hopefully by the weekend).

In regards to the fetchy nature, do you have any feedback that would make it more engaging or funner for you? We probably won't be able to make any substantial changes to the Game Jam version, but perhaps in a hypothetical future update we can expand upon the system a bit more!

ismael-rodriguez 2025-10-07 06:15

@innominev3945 I understand jam limitations - our ideas are often bigger than the time and resources we have to make them real.

I don't know if it's inline with the vision or scope but I though some traversal/movement mechanic would make exploration more fun... Slide down hills like Journey or zip across ice. Even a stamina based BOTW style sprint button might add bit of a mini-game layer. Heck let me tame a seal and ride it lol.

The suggestion i made about narrative exposition with each collection would provide a bit of a reward and incentive. That way some anticipation builds while you run back to camp - "what's the next chapter of the story".

The music was very fitting for the environment! I enjoyed the little bobbing walk animation too as I tried to gather fossils without dying by seal.

lovely!

I played the web version of the game, I think the art was really nice, the gameplay worked, even though it took some figuring out, and the seal scared me when he first appeared, so the core is really well done :id: For feedback purposes, I think you guys could focus more on getting the core mechanics to a point where they feel like they really work. Right now, there are a bunch of different mechanics that all add to a... somewhat empty experience. Like was mentioned before, the story is fun, but it's hard to see what will progress it at first. The walking animation is cute, but the items were just balls, and picking them up was less rewarding than I hoped it was. I believe a good vertical slice is better than 10 decent partitions that will all need more time than you have. All in all, the game looked good, it was fun to play, but I feel like the idea could have been trimmed down to make one or two things really awesome.

innominev3945 2025-10-08 13:39

@livingipod Thanks for playing our game and giving us a shot! We definitely agree with all of your feedback; is there anything you'd like to see to help make collecting the items more rewarding for you personally? We may flesh out some of these ideas in a future update.

GRAPHICS ARE ADORABLE!!! I can't load the game on itch.io for some reason :( But it looks actually cute

thadev 2025-10-11 03:26

The game looks really cute, but it feels quite empty and long. The concept is interesting and can easily be pushed even further, but for a short game jam the goal must have been too big. The point is often to grab a player's attention fast, and the very slow movement of the character doesn't help much in my opinion. Other than that everything looked really nice, the game loop is playable and the style feels just right!

I like the visuals a lot, and the seal is just the right level of scary but not that difficult to avoid once you're expecting it.

For me the game never captured the mouse right, so I kept on moving the mouse outside of the play area, which meant I could barely turn the camera around. I'm not sure if this was a general bug, or somehow specific to my system. I think I would have enjoyed exploring a lot more if I could move the camera around properly

artur-hawkwing 2025-10-16 00:57

Amazing narration, and I really liked the ambiance. The gameplay would have been a lot easier, however, if my mouse had not kept getting stuck at the edge of the screen and limiting the camera rotation. That was not gamebreaking at all,but would be a great update for a post-LD version.

Great design and good concept ! Well done

anderson-job-loeffler 2025-10-19 16:52

Everything about this is super cute; the design, the concept, even the music! I especially loved the main character’s look. Really charming entry!
