My girlfriend and I played this one and we both really liked the graphics and thought it was a really interesting concept, kind of like Dominion. I had a little difficulty getting the drag and drop to work correctly sometimes, especially selling items, but it didn't detract from the experience

This is amazing. Just, like really great job. This is remarkably complex for a jam game, I got lost in it for like half an hour. Awesome aesthetic and atmosphere.

sofimei 2024-10-08 02:59

Hi! Interesting game! I checked it out because of the art, really pretty~ Love the designs of all the creatures and different cards! The sounds are nicely fleshed out and satisfying, I also appreciate that a full tutorial is in the game and easy to find.

I did run into a bug (haha), no really, a game bug, where after day 2 I could no longer buy creatures even though I had the funds, and some cards would drag to the bottom but then disappear when ending the day. Sadly wasn't able to fully experience the strategy in this because of that, but it seems really interesting with resources, the buffs and effects, and was excited to try upgrading animals! If you guys are able to fix that would love to try it out again ~

damien-black 2024-10-08 02:59

I completed 2 of the 4 goals. It came together well. The webpage is cutting of the camera a bit, I couldn't see the edges on chrome.

2024-10-08 03:04

Cool game! I like the concept, but it was kind of hard to get started - it's pretty confusing at first, not knowing what gives what (unless its on the screen), which makes it hard to plan for quests.

jesse-ray 2024-10-08 03:06

Thought the game was really fun and a great concept. Not sure how the get one animal of every type works. I thought I had it completed but maybe I did something wrong. Really interesting game :)

hakusai 2024-10-08 03:19

Cool game! Only met 1 of the goals in my first run. The concept is great and is very extendable.

tavox 2024-10-08 16:52

Very nice graphics and Sounds. And interesting gameplay. I wasn't able to complete all 4 tasks yet, but I will give it a few more try's.

jdeedubs 2024-10-08 18:02

@raymond-bourke Thanks! Yeah, sometimes the snap-to is a bit janky. We pivoted mid-weekend, and ran out of time to smooth it over. Such is the game jam, though! :)

@sofimei Thanks for playing! We ran out of time to do a ton of bug squashing, sorry it made it unplayable for you. Were you playing in fullscreen? Some of the assets get mushed together in the browser window mode.

@damien-black Thanks for playing! It's a bit scrunched in the web browser version, unfortunately. Did fullscreen work for you?

@jesse-ray Thanks! The one of every animal type was a strange bug, and we couldn't really figure out why it doesn't work, so congratulations on finding it!

@hakusai We would have loved to add more cards and strategy, but ended up short on time. Thanks for playing!

@tavox Thank you! Good luck on your next try!

eranot 2024-10-08 18:21

Incredible what you guys pulled in a weekend! Somethings were off even in fullscreen, like the tooltips off the screen. The mechanics are a bit hard to get at first and maybe could be worked a bit more to be easier, but it's understandable since its a jam game. Good job!

stames 2024-10-08 19:44

Your game looks so nice and with the sound it is very relaxing. It is a bit difficult sometimes to understand what a card will bring you. But the whole mechanics are very nice

kazzter 2024-10-08 23:39

Really nice! Couldn't get all the objectives done in a single run, but it's a really cool concept. The UI has a lot of detail that really adds in a card game.

runningopenloop 2024-10-09 07:38

Some info was cut-off with zooming. Linux-firefox. Seemed same with chromium. Played fine though. First run through I got 2/4. Second 4/4. In was in the second run through I realized how to combine them. I was still a bit confused about what I'd get in the payoffs but enjoyed it. Nice relaxing music.

aripize 2024-10-09 14:55

I absolutely love art! The idea and execution are amazing! Thanks for this awesome project!

lucy-z 2024-10-09 15:35

I was drawn in by the cover and think this gameplay is very unique.

kanity 2024-10-09 16:19

The visuals are really pretty! I love the view of the town in Main Menu and back of the cards especially!

I did figure out to switch to fullscreen as soon as I noticed screen being cropped, and only THEN noticed gray letters in main menu suggesting fullscreen :) I suspect it was added last-minute, but just pointing out the text is not readily visible.

But also, I believe, you can choose the height and width of your window when you edit the game page on itch.io - maybe check that out as well?

About the gameplay: took a second to figure it out, especially since it seems I have to *very* carefully place the card *exactly* on my deck spot for it to register as taken and fill said spot.

Also: when we are in the Shop section, I believe the button should say "Start the day" instead of "Next day", otherwise it is confusing. Then, when my villagers can take action, on that screen would be great to have button for the action itself, and separately "Next day" (or keep just one button and rename it so it is like "Action(gather?) and end the day" or something along those lines). I think it would make the process a bit more clear, because at first I was like - next day? but I didn't do anything yet? (first in shop window, then on the next screen too!)

It's a bit strange I bought many different creatures along the way, but my card still said I only bought 2. Sometimes it felt like creatures didn't yield resources (for example, +resource appeared on first three, but then not on the last two) and I am left confused why some creatures disappeared from my deck after the turn (did I, after all, not manage to actually "buy" them? or they need constant in-flow of their resource to be kept around?)

Overall, I think the game has a lot of potential, and it's a great jam entry! Hopefully you continue working on it and polishing <3 Music is very relaxing and creates a calming atmosphere.

P.S. Went to rate and I don't see the art category. Is it not by you? While audio is there even though it's credited to someone outside of jam?

ordineu 2024-10-10 01:18

(Double-checked the rules regarding post-LD fixes and apparently bugfixes are ok? So I did a few:) @damien-black @eranot @runningopenloop Yeah the UI being the wrong resolution is a thing we've done poorly in the past -- I just put out a patch that should fix it so that everything is visible.

@jesse-ray Yes that partictular victory condition was bugged on the first release, so I just put out a patch.

@kanity Thank you so much for your detailed review! I have a strong feeling that the UI sometimes does not register buying animals properly -- if you lose resources it definitely worked but otherwise I'm not sure why you ran into that many miscounts... We were trying something new with the UI and I think that messed some basic things up :(

enad96 2024-10-10 10:45

This was a fun one! Kind of a cool TFT, card game, Catan hybrid.

suchista 2024-10-10 13:32

what do we have here.png what do we have here...

vyffea 2024-10-10 14:05

I was attracted to beautiful art, and I love the design of card. The sound of cuckoo is very aymospheric.Probably it will be better if you can add a dark visual effect at the end of the day. The gameplay is very interesting, moderate difficult to achieving thr goals, I love it!

pachino55 2024-10-11 18:56

The art is so cool, nice job!

joshua-reumann 2024-10-11 18:58

Nice art style and nice mood

nemuikoda 2024-10-11 19:03

The art is really nice, but the gameplay was not for me

jdeedubs 2024-10-11 19:07

@eranot Yeah, we're still refining UI with every jam, haha. Thanks for playing!

@stames Thank you! We designed the cards first, then tried to jam them into the sprite, which didn't really help with readability unfortunately.

@kazzter Thank you! We were pretty happy with the card playing sounds.

@runningopenloop Payoffs for leveling cards got pushed past the deadline, but we were hoping for more clear rewards and incentives. Thanks for playing!

@aripize Thank you!

@lucy-z Thanks! I'm glad it brought you in. Took me a hell of a long time, haha.

@kanity Thanks for stopping by again! We've been trying to focus more and more on first- play experience, and this is great feedback. Thanks for catching the missing art category. That would have been tragic, considering it was most of my weekend, haha.

@enad96 Glad you liked it, thanks for playing!

@vyffea Thanks! We were planning on having a cute "end the day" animation, but ran out of time. I was thinking of adding a rooster sound, but it got very annoying, haha.

@pachino55 Thanks for playing!

@joshua-reumann Thank you!

@nemuikoda Sorry it wasn't to your tastes, but thanks for playing!

glassar 2024-10-11 19:09

This was really excellent and surprisingly hard in a good way. And very impressive work for managing so much content and interactions in just 3 days with only 2 people. Well done

stardust-z 2024-10-12 11:39

The game was so amazing, can't believe you can make it in three days. Good job!

phthallo 2024-10-12 12:23

Really nice concept with potential, it was a little buggy though. I had to refresh the window after finishing a round, as the objectives window was way oversized and blocked the whole screen. It also seems that the "end the game with 0 creatures" didn't work. I sold all cards before the end and it wasn't highlighted as done.

kuggenhoffen 2024-10-14 15:17

Not a huge fan of card games but the game looked interesting so gave it a try. Turned out to be quite fun and art looks nice. Didn't manage to accomplish more than one goal a round though. Unfortunate that there were some bugs but I could enjoy the game regardless. Good job!

sleepystudios 2024-10-24 20:07

This was a really nice and cozy game. Art was great, music and sounds were also great. I really liked that you added those objectives on at the start because it made new games feel fresh. I did also have some minor clipping issues with text but other than that nice work!
