That's a very original gameplay ! I loved the fact we can control the rats based on the rythme. Nice graphics too, well done !

I liked the game, the gameplay is quite interesting. A good prototype))

Pretty cool idea. I think it's quite a tough game, not sure the timings match the beats properly, but it's a fun idea, great job!

Enjoyed the music and the medieval manuscript illumination art style, really well executed! Only being able to attack / heal on certain beats adds a good level of challenge as well.

kadokta 2024-10-09 22:49

God I love rats

ronn-fever 2024-10-10 03:25

Very interesting game, I love the combination of rhythm gameplay with strategy gameplay. Even though I had a really hard time understanding what my rat crew was doing, I still think you guys have something special here. Really whimsical music and art, and certainly makes a great vibe, I felt like going to war! Good luck on the post-jam version, I think it's gonna rock. (PS: What a smart idea to have a cheat button for people who are blasting through these games... I'm totally going to adopt this for future jams! Elegant solution and kind to the audience you know you have!)

I see rat, I upvote, simple as. But jokes aside the medieval manuscript art with cutsy animal asthetic is so peak. Reminds me of Robinhood. The music is nice as well, I can see with more time it can be an amazing rhythm game.

Pretty good idea, but I didn't quite understand how the right arrow worked, I clicked on it and literally nothing happened. I liked the style in which the sprites were made and the way the progression was done.

Great medival style, like it!

dan-nik-sg 2024-10-10 07:16

Simple but pretty decent game, does the arrows have an cooldown? because they didn't work each time i was pressing them, also you could make so the player was going to flip on x axis when he is moving to face or right, so he faces the direction he goes to :)

The 2nd pied piper related game I have seen during this jam, and both were equally amazing! The rhythm based combat is really fun and, while it was a tad bit chaotic / confusing throughout the game, I always enjoyed it.

The art style, while not necessarily my usual style, was more than enjoyable, well fitting with the concept and generally cohesive, leading to a good experience!

Looking forward to the post jam updates, as I can definitely see this working well as a more polished, filled with content version!

Rythn games are so cool ! It always makes you feel so cool, I really like the art style you went for, the drawings are amazing. I'd love to see different actions for the rats, I felt like spamming kill a lot :) Super cool entry

Thank you all so much for the great feedback! I'm so glad the medieval marginalia theme was as compelling to all of you as it was to us. The rhythm game aspect was something we couldn't pass up on as soon as we decided on "Pied Piper" theme, and although it's quite unpolished in it's current state, I'm grateful you all see the potential.

To address a few specific concerns:

@dan-nik-sg One of our first priorities for the full launch is to make a clearer tutorial (and improve readability in general). You need to input the song you'd like to play on the first beat of the measure (when the big circle in the middle is glowing), and only on the first beat of the measure, in order to get the effects of the song. It will not have any effects if you miss the beat.

@okely The right arrow (again, when pressed on the first beat) should make all of the rats that are currently latched onto an enemy do a bigger chunk of damage. We were hoping to give that particular song a more noticeable effect than "the health bar decreases slightly faster", but unfortunately we just ran out of time to add better visual/audio cues.

@kadokta , @yufan-lu RATS!!!

Thanks again for all the love!

A fun game!

ethernal-tech 2024-10-11 17:50

Loved the unique rhythm-based gameplay! Controlling rats to the beat was a clever and fun mechanic. The medieval art style really added to the experience! Great job, looking forward to seeing more! 🐀🎶

I really liked the style of the game. Very Nice!)

Nice take on rhythm games. I love your graphics btw!

sevadusk 2024-10-12 18:51

This was a really innovative bullet hell, and although more of an interactive tutorial would have helped, this game had a lot of great ideas that worked well together. Great entry!

[Thanks for submitting your game to stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2274205446?t=02h29m09s)

As you can tell, I kind of got into a bit of a trance with this one  Great job!

tinykidtoo 2024-10-17 02:59

Took me a minute to understand it, but its quite clever, I liked the rate more games pickup, that was funny.

empyreans 2024-10-23 19:43

Lovely rhythm game, interesting stylization with medieval ornaments!

Really enjoyed playing it on stream and thank you for bringing it there :)
