Really nice job done, I spend at least like a half-hour to play your game! But I would recomend you to speed up the loading time bewtween each area, because if realy break the rythm of the game play

malenia 2024-10-07 11:03

I spent the last half hour playing this, its 4am, but this was worth it, if this isnt top 3 im calling rigged, my only problem is that it has an end, i would've sat there forever if the waves kept coming, 5 stars across the board from me.

Wow, this is a game that I think people could even buy if they improved it a bit more, because I personally really liked the implementation and gameplay.

Love the old computer/ OS-based theme you're going for, it's a pretty neat aesthetic! Though, I do have one small pet peeve:

I always forget the cost of buying location-specific buildings (Houses in the Village, Sawmills in the Forest, Mills in the Field, Archer Towers in the Castle) so I would have to double back multiple times to make sure I have enough resources to buy them. This wouldn't be a huge problem on its own, but with the loading time between areas (like AlxJE mentioned) this could add up to a lot.

Despite that, though, this is still a great game with neat gameplay. It's very satisfying to see numbers going up while your knights/creature tap on the resources nodes. You can definitely build upon this idea to create something bigger!

Great game with addictive gameplay! The game immerses you in the atmosphere of an old computer, and it looks very stylish. Resource management and army building make the game exciting, and watching the army grow is a real pleasure! 🏰 Great work, and I hope the game will be further developed! 👏

This game is definitely one of the most unusual games I've played on Ludum Dare. I really like diegetic interfaces in games. But it's a little inconvenient to constantly switch between cells. Very cool game!

mikeandtherest 2024-10-08 21:09

A very unique game, I must say. I enjoyed so much playing it, it's well designed and looks polished. And on top of it all, it's really addictive (I think I've spent more than half an hour playing it). Great job!

Oh I love this concept - I really hope you have plans on taking it further and polish it more - Taking the Idle Clicking game genre and giving it this active spin, through RTS like game mechanics and multiple recources to manage - I love it, charming art style fun to see the little guys go!

My main problem I had was that the battles was not very readable - it was hard to gauge if my chances where good, or if i I had to go and gather reinforcements and manually gather more recources for that - or if I was winning and could relax and do that when the coast is clear - and I did not enjoy the computer to much, i do not feel it fet the theme that well, and would much more have liked a setting where you are a king scrambling through your map parchments to give out the orders to your kingdom - or something in that vibe, maybe the notifications could be your subjects come and read that, the keep is under attack or the village is under attack, so that you know where to go.

altough when I am sitting here critiquing the theming on a game jam game - thats a fairly good sign you have a interesting game loop going! - great job

I really liked the game, so much so that I stuck for 20 minutes and didn't tear it off for a second, a very cool idea with little people that you lead, it's cool that there are waves, the music is awesome, but the only thing is that the towers block the view and you don't understand who died of yours and who is still alive

royur 2024-10-08 22:51

very cool. kinda hard looking down and up though. really enjoy playing it.

Took me just a little to pick up and when I did I was really charmed!! it's so satisfying getting the buildings up

wind1e 2024-10-09 01:40

The game was too hard for what I have time for at the moment, but I might come back and really try to beat it. I wish there was a way to repair the tower, even if slowly. Really liked the game overall, the music, sounds, and gameplay were all top notch.

evghenia 2024-10-10 17:16

OMG I LOVED THIS GAME SO MUCH. The concept, the sounds, the graphics just wow. Can't wait to see the full game!!

Very well done overall! From the simple concept mixing clicker gameplay with strategy, to the overall presentation, to the albeit simple audio that for all intents and purposes is not out of place due to the atmosphere of the game, etc... Unlike what others have said though, I think the time it takes to transition between maps adds to the push and pull of the game, adding tension to the management you are supposed to do, which by the way, I felt it was also very well done, specially in terms of game balance. That said, all that is left are some minor nitpicks, like the lack of feedback in combat, being hard to even see the decreasing hitpoints of enemies sometimes, and minor quality of life improvements, like having some kind of information regarding the allowed buildings in each of the areas. Overall though, really good game, congrats!

holysparks 2024-10-23 21:52

Was a bit surprised at first, but once you get the hang of it its a very pleasant gameplay loop

icxon 2024-10-24 05:11

Impressive entry for a COMPO! Failed miserably on my very first try. Got a victory on the next one.

Was not happy I am unable to see all the juicy fight behind the tower. Also felt a bit annoying the whole toggle screen mechanic and wasd movement but once I understood how units work and wave timer is intentionally not visible -- it got much better. Player needs to find a balance between getting greedy and not preparing enough - I love that.

Here is my playthrough:

I enjoyed this entry, I always like this sort of in universe contextualizing like the ui being displayed on the computer and the sticky notes. the game's style is great and immersive. The music is a bit repetitive, would have been nice if there was a longer track.

the gameplay loop is nice, I died on my first 2 tries but then I managed to win. it's a solid resource management game

good entry!

cataclysmicknight 2024-10-24 21:10

This is SUCH a clever way to present this! It's a tower defense, idle/incremental game popup book using an old-school computer monitor. Really clever! I couldn't beat it lol but I did have a good time playing it once I figured out how to play it.

t90 2024-10-25 20:30

CRIMINALLY underrated game. Ridiculously good, and even crazier that it's a compo one. Probably one of the most unique and best games I've played this jam. Great work!

This is such a great representation of the theme, I'm a sucker for simple games, especially ones that use a 2d+3d aesthetic! Great work

nbumgardner 2024-11-13 02:03

The connections between the resources were well thought out. The audio got repetitive, yet it is a repetitive, challenging game. I also liked the popup book map, it adds to the charm of this fleshed out, animated game. Great job.
