I did it!

Quirky is definitely the right descriptor! I liked the fake-out at the beginning where it felt like you had lost, but then all the fairies showed up the next time around. The goofy audio effects and the flying text was fun as well.

It was a bit difficult to understand what to do. I collected fairies and filled up the cannon, but then the progress reset, so I had to do it a second time. Maybe that was intended? I also avoided getting squashed by the foot for the longest time, but then no more fairies were spawning, so I got hit, which caused more to spawn.

And I didn't understand what to do with the mouse click (it shot copies of me as a bullet?) but I had fun shooting it around as I collected my fairies. A very unique entry, great effort!

Yes! YEAAAH! YES! WHOHOOO! YEEEES! Yeahe he he heeeeee... :D I'm gonna go to a pet shop to buy a spider. Seriously, don't go to the light, but even if you go it wont kill you. Lets scoop some fairies up and make an ice cream sandwhich. YEEES :D

I feel like you had loads of fun making audio for this one hahaha! Not sure how fairies were re-spawned (timer?), but I blew up the leg also :)

It might be helpful to add instructions for how to run this, for those who don't know about Java and how it works.

I like the concept of using progressive reveal to change the nature of the game.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get much further because the game seemed to crash for me repeatedly after the first level where I got squashed by the giant leg.

Don't have much to say, except that I finished the game, and it's unhinged and totally awesome for it. Even the console text is great --

Another signature Commander Stitch. You really should put all your games up on your website, and maybe a specimen for each of those unique fonts. Loved the original sound of the fairies and finally managed to show it to that leg! For your records, here's my playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8xlDpyVWJo

Yeaaaaahhhh! Wooo! These fairies are way too happy and I love it

Incredibly weird and wonderful aesthetics! With the fourth wall breaking game progression I think it really connects into a coherent mess. The grass texture was maybe a bit too much of a messy mess, with everything blending into it. Really fun and experimental! Great work! 🦵

Great game, nice matching with theme, keep going

I couldn't play the game but watched the timelapse, very interestering, all the softwares that you use, you create the game without an engine directly in eclipse. Nice job

Crashed after starting new game after the first talk with fairy. Thankfully, relaunching after that has let me keep playing. after filling cannon 2/3, there were no fairies left on screen. Are they off-screen or something? I have jre1.8.0_431 java installed, I wonder if java version may affect the game...

shamedoor 2024-10-24 09:27

The visuals remind me games I played when I was a child :') Nice game!

commanderstitch 2024-10-24 12:51

@baturinsky I doubt the java version, as long as it's past 1.7, would be an issue. Not sure what would be causing the crashing. If you need more fairies, you run over the little mole hills that appear after a leg stomp to the ground. Originally you were supposed to sacrifice some fairies to get more fairies, but I ran out of time. :-)

There have been full screen issues, so I recommend not playing full screen.

Wow, very weird, but charming. I couldn't really tell what my goal was, or how much I've progressed, further than collecting fairies, but I think that's either intentional or my fault. The game would lag every so often as it tried to play a bunch of sound effects at once. It was really bad when I started the second game, and the game hung long enough for the OS to show the "not responding" dialog.

Just want to say thank you for this. I finally had a time to play it (the jar was sitting on my Desktop for a while) and it didn't disappoint me. I always admired your style of creativity, or something. How can I say this? Anyway, please keep up with the good work! From your fan.

Edit: by the way, the source code link is wrong. (it should be .zip)

@euske, hey thanks. you're right!
