A really interesting concept with a neat execution! Although in my opinion it is a bit hard to type out the combinations since it's easy to accidentally skip a symbol of the combination, but I like it
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD55 → Unholy One

Sadly I couldn't play because my keyboard is AZERTY  The game looks very good, and the voice acting is funny though!
I don't know why, but the spell effects that are used don't really work on the enemies. Besides that, the idea is very interesting and it's evident that a lot of effort went into the game. I like the idea of creating spells through keyboard input. Great job!
I liked the idea, though at the start all I really did was just mess around since I didn't know what to do. But the voice guide got me through, nice idea and game!
my brain is to slow for this, minions attack way to fast for me to react with spells and just kill the castle. id suggest either using a limited amount of keys for casting that reroll after every minute or so, for example, using on QWERTYUI, and randomising every once in a while to groups of random letters, Or, using human readable words/phrases
I would also like to not use the mouse at all, can you upgrade with the keyboard? if so i couldnt manage to do it, id suggest using the numbers for upgrading, and labeling the number near the upgrade.
Art was pretty nice, even if simplistic.
Sitting through the tutorial voice everytime you start over was a pain, if that wasnt there i would try to play more and figure out if i am just too bad, or the game difficulty too high.
Great game and I love VO
I really like the graphic, mood and sfx but spells are very difficult to cast=) Maybe if they be twice shorter it would be better) Anyway it is really cool concept
Thank you everyone for such great reviews.
I failed to make good enough difficulty curve in time. Please consider to do the following to beat the game and listen to a **banger** of a soundtrack: 1. Upgrade Bow 2. Upgrade Ballista(Below Bow) 3. Upgrade Tombstone(Right to Ballista) 4. Cast Hammer 5. Repeat
Nice concept, although very difficult xD Skill issue.
Sadly, i dont understand anything about this game because game hasnt any discription what to do. Im not native english, and bad in understanding hearing.
Pixelart not bad btw
Nice art and music. The enemies death sound effects make it seem like I am dying sometimes. I don't really understand what all the upgrades do and what the hammer does when typed. Cool narration.
Nice concept, but not easy in AZERTY :/ the keyboard binding is in QWERTY. Well polished, nice concept, good game :)
Very difficult game, also with a german qwertz keyboard. not having backspace was confusing, making a typo devastating. Otherwise a pretty cool concept though, and I'd love to see it explored more :D
After I figured out how to get the upgrade I got through until the giant. I really like the idea and voice acting is always a big plus! Would have liked a volume slider so I could have heard it better or some subtitles. I think it might have been better to have fewer upgrades but make them feel more meaningful. The spells on the left side of the book did not seem to do much but I might be wrong. I died quite quickly in the beginning. It would have been nice if I could have sped up the tutorial a bit. I really dig the art style and the humor was also on point!
Hey nice game. The Art is great and the sounds and music too. The Concept is neat, but the spells should have worked only with a combination of arrowkeys. I think that would be much better. The Balaning at the beginning is a bit of. you need to upgrade fast 2 points in the offense fast, but after that its easy and you can chill. :id: Nice Work Guys
A fun concept, but as most have added above and you have already addressed, the typing difficulty is too much. The ability to use backspace would have been a pleasant addition, as it was the first thing I went to do when I typed a wrong letter. I also unfortunately caused a loss from typing a little too late in the tutorial section. A good way to prevent players from doing this is to refill their mana at the beginning of the first wave.
The game looked very nice, and I was pleasantly surprised by the voice acting. Humourous and informative. I hope you find some more time to keep developing. If you want a good way to keep a curve, perhaps create import lists of keystrokes that vary from an easy list to a harder list that you can use to balance the curve a little better. Interested to see where this one goes!
I really liked the idea, execution is quite edgy though. Adding to what is already said: - Allow upgrading from the beginning. Or forbid casting too, as I thought I couldn't upgrade at all. - Don't really know what most of upgrades are doing - i could understand only bow, castle and something with souls (its limit I think?). - As soon as you kill the first wave, you can stop casting abilities - castle damage is enough.
Really great idea - I'd love to play bigger version! And audio was just fantastic!
Had a hard time figuring out why the spells didn't work until I realized my keyboard is in azerty mode :') Also big fan of the voice acting as an intro, it's very unusual for a jam and adds a really nice touch to your game!
It's a game I didn't understand at first, it's pretty complex. Plus for the voice acting. Plus for the artwork. Minus for intuitiveness.
I'm not very good at typing, so this frustrated me at first. But once you get the hang of it, it becomes fun.
The pixel art is good and so is the general atmosphere, though perhaps a soundtrack is missing in the background during the game.
I think the idea is really cool. Nice job!
Strangely, nothing I did killed the humans and I couldn't upgrade anything. I cast all four spells. Looks like bomb uses all your mana, the one to the right is a repair, then there's toxic cloud and freeze cloud. They played their effects but no humans died or seemed affected. The skull's voice lines were funny the first time, but not the fourth. I liked how the menu looked and thought the tutorial seemed helpful, if the commands actually did something.
Graphics are great, music is good, and humour is on point. In the bottom right corner you can see you'r spells, you should try to use them or something.
