I like the noise for getting a combo a lot. I wish the falling blocks had a bit of a melody when a bunch of them fell. all around a surprisingly fun game. I played till I got 2100 then gave up. I also love the randomizing deletion pool, that's a very good idea.

@bigtex Thank you for being the first commenteer! I'm kind of creeped out by the number of ratings without comments already. Yes the blocks that fall as a result of deletion fall one by one, I don't know why, they use the same animation function as blocks that get added, must be something wrong with the logic code.

Oddly satisfying, I was also originally expecting vertical blocks to dissapear when in line of 3 but works even without that. Very meditave experience, thank you!

Really good audio!

villhest 2024-04-16 20:53

I played it for too long (1770 points). Great mood!

justine-olshan 2024-04-17 05:04

I enjoyed the sounds of the blocks falling, and it was interesting to read. I too wish that we could see vertical lines clear too.

Cool concept with the match-3 approach and rolling the dice on which blocks I could try to remove. It felt like sometimes when I got 3 or 4 in a row (or column), it didn't wipe the blocks, so I wasn't sure why that was. Personally, I found the sound effect of the falling blocks a bit overplayed, and would've also liked the blocks to fall faster (or all at once), to speed things up.

Great submission though, nice job!

Love the concept! In it's core, this is a match 3 game indeed. I was wondering why you choose to make it only match horizontaly? I think its impressive that you did this in javascript! Also, did you really create all 360 of these spirit descripions? That must have been a lot of work! I googled some of the names to see if these are real descriptions, but it seems like you made them all up?

Also, I played for around 10 or 15 minutues, I never came across the scale to clear out. Are those more rare to get? The graphics need some polish in my opinion, but the core gameplay is there and if the player likes a good story, then this is a fun one to play indeed!

I love how you always try to innovate with different techniques and often create something that makes one think. Not one of your games look like your other games. That is impressive

Also: the scoring is nicely done, splitting it into two categories. I tried to end the game by doing bad moves, it took me a while. I wanted to see what happened when the board filled up

Oh, btw. I just installed Arc Browser (its in closed beta for Windows right now), so I found it pretty funny to see your notice on top after playing  I can confirm that it works on that one (I believe its chrome based)

Yo @wouter52 I played your game first and have a lot to say, but decided to wait for a better time as I'm too drained after submission to articulate properly.

The game's title is literally the name of the book and its author. I stole the data arrays from a website that is linked in credits. I guess spirits that help with legal issues (scales) are more rare, what each spirit helps with is based on matching words in their descriptions (though most don't match to anything and give single wildcard instead). I went with horizontal-only matching because it was giving me an enjoyable slow-game kind of feel that gives more dopamine when any match is made, but I failed in justifying that through visual cues or whatever, of course a lot of people will skip reading the instructions and will end up confused.

It turned out very conceptual, and in a special absurdly pleasant, the only thing is that the sound of the choice is a bit painful to the ears because of the harshness.

minkki 2024-04-18 07:24

This is a really fun game! I like the concept and the audio. Ended up playing this for a while. Nice job!

wouter52 2024-04-18 14:35

@kr4ft3r ah I see! Now I understand what you meant by "data that was in plain JavaScript", I opened up the source and there it was: all the descriptions

Take as much time as you need! I saw the highscores you set! You are still 4th on the leaderboard after at least 22 playthroughs :-)

iwant-pizza 2024-04-18 18:24

Funny game

kr4ft3r 2024-04-19 22:25

@heretic Thanks, "absurdly pleasant" is what I was aiming for.

alpacalypse 2024-04-20 12:01

I'm really glad I can resolve issues in my life by matching 3, it's much easier than what I was doing before. Thanks!

After hours trapped in the karmic cycle, I came to prioritise organising my problems over solving them. Screenshot 2024-04-21 011337.png Things I learnt: - Sometimes problems solve themselves. - Spinning around in a circle while looking at the sky is not entirely random, but not entirely reliable either.

Please give me something in the 3rd column PLEASE!

Pretty addicting lil game. Wish the blocks falling happened a little faster. Nice work!

gamebuilder 2024-04-21 18:16

Overall, a very good game. It’s almost addictive — I would keep playing but for lack of time.

Also, the division into the five ailments is a brilliant idea and I like the way you incorporated the spirit data. I was not even aware the latter existed — live and learn. Audio is top-notch and very rewarding. Definitely one of the better games I've played of late.

Great match 3 game with a twist

geckoo1337 2024-04-23 15:50

Interesting concept which is well done. I did not know anything about Franz Bardon. It's a strange way of life. The main concept is easy to understand and I liked the interpretation. Funny Match 3 game twist. I really like how the symbols roll on the right screen. Thank you for this entry. I wish you the best ++

gus-goucher 2024-04-24 03:14

Cool twist on a match three! Liked the specific choice of direction / inspiration. Good work!

sweetwizzle 2024-04-26 19:12

A really cool way to represent the theme! I do kind of think it might have been more fun with vertical matching in addition to horizontal, as sometimes it felt like I spent numerous turns doing nothing due to the RNG. Enjoyable game regardless, nicely done!

merrow 2024-04-30 13:39

Cool concept, cool game, liked it and played it quite a few time
