basically, it's like a treasure hunt game, you type questions on the Ouija board and get hints for the target position. When you feel you are close to the point, press the spacebar to evocate. If a ghost appears, it means you succeed.
Graphics: The atmosphere is really nice, the effects and art are really cool. Just sad for the 2D blocking camera's view at some moments. Gameplay: Not obvious how to play (meaning there is a lack of signs and feedback) but the idea is interesting. Physics: Missing colliders for the 2D/3D interaction is sad but not problematic.
For me its really a cool visual experience :)
Wandered around and didn't understand where to exactly go. More signs and feedback would be welcome. Great art, could be a very good game.
Very interesting Chinese horror aesthetics, perhaps due to time constraints, and do not understand the gameplay and story line of the game, the lack of a certain sense of excitement, but this is not a big problem
Greate atmosphere and art. And have clearer in-game instructions and goals. Nice infusion of Chinese cultural aspect as well!
Noice graphics and atmosphere. The mechanic is a little hard to figure out (didn't know I can talk to Ouija board until I read the comments here, but I don't know how should I ask questions cause it always answers "I don't know") The idea itself is very innovative though! I think this game has potential to be great if more time is spent on it.
ok, i apologize for not making this clear in the game. "IDK" is a default answer to anything offtopic. However,You can try asking these question listed below
1.Are you here?(Gives yes or no answer based on whether you are in the same area with the destination)
2.Are you close? / Are you near? / Are you around? (gives yes or no answer based on the distance between you and the point)
3.Where are you? (returns either east/west/north/south)
4.How old are you? / What’s your age? (returns their age)
5.How did you die? (Has a chance to return their cause of death, which is useful for determing which area it is in)
you dont have to exactly follow these questions since the game detects keywords.
The map is splitted into 4 parts , each ruled by a special ghost, you can find their descriptions above.
Im planning to upload a full playthrough vid, when it comes out you can check it on youtube. But before that, I highly recommand you to read the description and my comments.
I've just posted a playthrough video on youtube! Check it out if anyone is interested :)
very good atmosphere, but the 5 minutes limit was too short, I enjoyed the game tho !
Incredible atmosphere, theme and graphics! Every visual just clicks in place. I really love the idea behind the game, my negative thought is that the game could have had more background, maybe about the character and this area. Since, even though the theme is really good, I feel like it kinda floats in the air without the proper background.
Other than that definitely a great game!
Interesting game. Beautiful art, very moody. Excellent work!
I'm here to can can need🥳 The visuals and atmosphere are well crafted! It's an interesting game and blending 2D and 3D in games like this feels challenging~ Good work! By the way, feel free to word a rating!
Really beautiful art and atmospheric game! I like the use of Chinese cultural elements, very interesting visual technique of mixing 3d and 2d graphics. Didn't read the tutorial before launching, so I didn't understand how to close the summoning board the first time. But the concept of the Ouiji board is great, very nicely done, the answers to the questions seem like real magic. Awesome result!
I don't if it is because of my ultrawide screen, but I don't see a keyboard when I open the ouija board.
@zuhairghias do you mean by the input field (the yellowish box where you enter text)? There shouldn't be an on-screen keyboard appearing since the game is for computers only. If you are playing on pc, and don't have a keyboard connected, then I guess you can enable the On-screen keyboard in the settings of your pc (sorry we'd never considered this case ;-;).
Looks great and it's a fun concept! Although with so few questions that work, I do wish I could either select them from a list, or that there were in-game hints about the kinds of things to ask, so I didn't have to hunt for clues outside the game. Or just have more question options, maybe with answers guiding me to better questions (Although I understand why that wasn't possible during a short game jam)
@creeper-nade I have the same issue!
The issue is that on an ultra-wide resolution, the viewport is stretched to fit the width of the screen, but in order to keep the width/height ratio, the top and bottom of the screen are cropped out, so we cannot see/focus on the Ask bar... I tried running it in window mode using Alt-Enter, but the window is not resizeable :(
Other than that, it's beautiful and one can definitely see that it is a work of love <3
Interesting concept! I like the ouija board mechanic and would love to see it fleshed out even more. i.e. ghost can give you more hints through the ouija board instead of just giving a cardinal direction or telling you that you're "close". As others have said, there should be more feedback when you are close to a ghost. I did enjoy the graphics and overall atmosphere. Thanks for sharing!
Ive liked a concept
a very interesting and atmospheric game
@monroelabs ok I've tried to adjust some settings of ui, not sure if that works since I don't have an ultra-wide screen, but it looks fine inside the unity game window. You can find the new version above (1.02 resolution hotfix)
@creeper-nade That did it, thank you! The main menu is still cropped out, but in-game UI is perfect :)
Really awesome graphics! I think I recognize sounds like in F&H
Really enjoyed this game. The art style especially. I like the idea and it was executed well. I feel like there could have been slightly better instruction, but I did read the comments and watch the video, so I was good, but a large part of good design is having this stuff built into the game. That's my only feedback, other than that, great job!!!!!
@dyingwolfwood Thanks for playing our game and for the feedback! Yeah, we realized we didn't design the instruction part well due to time limits, so a bunch of folks got lost at the start. We added extra stuff on the game page and made a video to help out. But it'd be better if we make the game explain everything itself.
Great job. You've got a great team working on this. I really liked the mood and style. Nice One!
Fun concept! I honestly adore stuff like this. Wandering around and having to pinpoint objective coordinates. The ghost communication angle is a great spin on it. I'd love to see a full game utilizing this fully, with more puzzle variety. Also, it maybe goes without saying but the visuals and atmosphere are lovely!
Cool art work, but chinese coin animation is toooooo long, especially when it has several letter destinations.
