The campy "badass" lines gave me a good laugh. It took me way too long to figure out that R was the reload key, but after I was able to progress pretty well.

Impressive graphics and sfx/music. I love the gun speaker ^^ Maybe you can improve the random enemy spawning and types. The boss gliched out in my playthrough. But shooting feels good.

Off graphics are sick. A little bit too dark on my taste. But it definitely gives a perfect mood.

Good submission overall! Have a nice Jam!

potatofinch 2024-04-16 12:34

Well that certainly was a ride Nice graphics, sick one-liners and great music

But man, the player character feels so incredibly short

anchry 2024-04-16 13:46

@potatofinch He might be small, but he has a big heart

gord10ahmet 2024-04-16 20:33

Great atmosphere here

hardytryer 2024-04-16 20:51

Untitled-1.png It is illegal to make so awesome visual style on the jam. Very nice atmosphere

chaoticspear 2024-04-17 12:35

Awesome visuals and really nice vibe, super impressive work for the time limit

litterattus 2024-04-17 17:43

Damn (pun intended), the overall aesthetics of the game are off the charts. One note is that for a game where you're supposed to feel like a badass the guns are surprisingly "tame", I would expect much more powerful firing sounds along with some knockback to really sell it.

pickens-inc 2024-04-17 17:59

As others have said, the graphics and atmosphere are what really sell it. The lighting is top notch, the use of the shadows and volumetric fog, how you had time to make all these assets is crazy. That last area is very cool too. I especially quite like the death animation for the ghoul things.

I think more time could have been spent working on the game "feel". In old school shooters, the key aspect was to make the guns feel really nice to kill things with. That comes from stuff like punchy sound effects, splashy gore, and stuff like camera kick. I think the blood particles were fun, but in general everything could have been amped up some. I fully appreciate that audio is often a rush to get in during a jam, but I think a simple improvement would be fixing the starting pistol's sound, which is a little delayed.

A solid entry with some juicy visuals and atmosphere. Well done!

pickens-inc 2024-04-17 17:59

Edit: my comment posted twice for some reason, whoops.

anchry 2024-04-17 18:08

@pickens-inc thaank you very much, and thank you for the feedback. You would have loved the initial placeholder gun sounds which were from our programmer making a popping sound with his mouth but yes we did rush the sfx for the guns quite a bit at the end there hehhhh

vodzik 2024-04-17 19:24

Holly shit! The holly hand grenades from Antioch! Great atmosphere and humor. Kermit made me laugh :frog:

Good voice acting, but voice lines from big bad evil guy could be louder. I often did not understand what he said among other noises.

Also I think that's shooting could have some more weight in it. Maybe with greater recoil? It felt somehow like toy gun.

The third gun was buggy. Often projectiles were disappearing right in front of me.

Overall nice work!

vodzik 2024-04-17 20:33

Btw, what player is doing in your game is the opposite of Summoning

master-yeet 2024-04-17 23:37

Awesome game, these lines from the main character were gold :D, the gameplay, graphics and music were all very good. Good job!

drainkid 2024-04-18 02:50

I don't know if it was intentional but the floppy machinegun made me laugh lol, nice job overall :)

lestat 2024-04-18 05:18

Robust entry.

A little bit repetitive, so I didn't finish the first level. I think there are too many enemies there.

belle 2024-04-18 13:01

Fantastic game! It was both atmospheric and hilarious, that's not an easy combo to pull off!

I loved walking across the bridge with inflatable demon arms dudes, getting ambushed! The big eye-guy was fantastic. Great voiceacting, enemies, music and selection of weapons - what's not to like?!

Thank you for this entry, it was a *blast* to play! :smiling_imp:

simon-rahnasto 2024-04-18 13:32

I knew this would be good when I saw the menu, I really dig the composition there. It sets the mood and you know you are in for a ride

"Let's go kick some demon ass", yes we will!

I love the small details like the "cross-hair", and the iron shight on the colt also being a cross. Great with voice acting, it really gives the game a personal touch. I like the graphics, they are a perfect blend of Doom and hilariousness.

Another thing that I like is the movement, where you can build up momentum by "bunny jumping". Similar to an earlier entry that you made "Hellchemist". That was awesome there, and it's even more awesome here.

Great job! :trophy:

Sick game! I loved the OG feel of gunning down a horde of demonic enemies while cheeky one-liners are being narrated. Reminded me of Blood II and Kiss: Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child. I think @pickens-inc summed it up pretty nicely about the feel of the guns by audio.

I think if you change that and make the enemy waves ramp up a bit more instead of them being all over you right away, it would be an awesome addition to the run and gun genre. Great work! :)

callmety 2024-04-22 21:34

In my opinion it just feels like Duke Nukem in hell/Doom and I am all here for it. I love the atmosphere and the random remarks your character makes were very funny. Overall a very enjoyable game and very impressive for jam time. Very nice job!

unx 2024-04-22 23:29

Unfortunately I'm on linux so I can't play the game, but the graphics look gorgeous! impressive work for 3 days work

trexxak 2024-05-04 00:40

The atmosphere is awesome, and there was a lot more gameplay than I first expected! Impressive work for 3 days!
