The game has a nice story but I miss the summoning elements, overall it has a nice art style
The art design are cute. I would say the animations are a bit too slow, it does not much my movement very well, this makes it feel not very reponsive.
A bit slow for me. Control is a little but odd as well. I think you might want to fix the jump off climb interaction, that is fairly disorienting.
Art is fantastic, I love the character animation, especially that sword swing!
I found the controls difficult and couldn't get used to them. However, I really liked the art style, though the controls were frustrating. It might be much easier with an xbox controller, keyboard is terrible.
Interesting game but buggy, I just flew through the whole level because of a bug with jumping. But it's not bad.
Character design and animations are pretty great.
Player controller looks innovative with all that climbing mechanics but sometimes it needs to be polished because it causes problems for beginner. Good platformer game and graphics of the characters and environment!
Nice game. I liekd the art style. I felt like i was running a lot left or right. Without an enemies or obstacles it makes you notice when there is nothing happeneing but you running. The controls were a bit hard. I had to reach to do the climbing when i rememberd what teh button was. Good job, i enjoyed the game.
Love the animation, i can make the backflip with climb + jump, kinda cool!
Neat idea, and nice character art - the controls did feel a bit floaty and slow plus the knockback when running into walls felt really jarring. Nice job for small team!
It was difficult to get out of the pit with the ground crystal due to the controls.
I managed to get all the crystals, I thought the wind crystal would be the big problem after jumping and falling halfway, but climbing back from the earth crystal was worse ;-; After beating the summon I didn't know where the exit was and quit the game. In general, the it has some physics bugs, but it's consistent if you use it to your advantage, I missed background music, but the arts are really cool and the level design is fun at the beginning and then becomes more challenging. Good game.
Nice entry!
Lets start with the things I really liked: - Character design and animation were great. The hero, scientist, and void monster all had very appealing designs and the animations were smooth. - Level layout. I really liked the progression from tutorial zone, to hub with NPC, to four individual routes you can do in any order that lead back to the hub. I felt like the layout was intuitive without a map or marker and never got lost.
And some areas for improvement: - Character controller. Some of the platforming and movement felt a bit awkward, and the player felt a little slow. I'd highly recommend checking out GMTK's [Platformer Toolkit](https://gmtk.itch.io/platformer-toolkit) for some tips and tricks on making platformer movement feel good. - Camera. A few times it was frustrating when I couldn't see directly below me and it turned out to be a hazard. If the player had a way to look around or the camera was just a bit more zoomed out, that could help.
Overall nice little game with a lot of personality. Congrats on finishing what looks like your first LD, and hope you come back for more!
I drew a doodle of the Void Beast:

Pretty character art! I like the dialog tree. Cool idea with climbing! I love to use the wall jumping to cross large gaps, although it makes walking stairs a lot harder :D I got softlocked ^^! If you get to the top and go right (over the fire crystal) you just can't go back. I guess I shouldn't go where there's no grass :sweat_smile: Also, I feel like it needs some controls explanation. And the camera work was a bit frustrating, especially if I needed to look where I'm dropping down. Congrats on your LD entry!
@vantalogic Thanks for the compliment
@klemen Summoning was at the very end, and the web version does ocassionally bug out.
@unchain The walk animation was just a slower run animation and I think that was a mistake. I think we should have gone with just the run as the default it would have felt better.
@skitefall Definitely agree, I think the run should have been free and the standard movement speed. The wall jump was something I wanted to find a fix for but didn't have time.
@eonarheim Thanks for the compliment
@oznarox Appreciate the feedback
@iwant-pizza interesting, never ran into that bug during testing.
@dabper Thanks for the compliment
@andrewbyte yeah, the movement needs a little bit of polish, especially the wall jump
@milano23 There was a walk and run speed, and I think we should have just done the run speed it would have made all the back and forth better
@kamizenki Thanks for the compliment
@delauraen I think some of the issue with floaty-ness is that the walk animation was just a slowed down run since we didn't have time and then the movement needed a little more polish (especially the wall jump)
@aucguy Thanks for the feedback, maybe a little more generous on the stamina would have helped. We had planned to add pickups to increase stamina and health, but they got cut.
@biemorth I think the margins for stamina in the lower section were too close. The plan was for stamina pickups but they got cut and we should have added some extra stamina. Movement did need some polish beyond that, but thanks for the feedback. I also wish we had time for music.
@jeremy-ryan Thanks for the comments and the feedback. I agree that the movement needed some extra polish. This was the first time using godot and found that some things ended up not working as I expected, but some more polish work would be good. The camera would shift down if you held the down key, but it may have been good to tutorialize that, but that may not have been quite enough.
@thelastslowpoke Thanks for the compliments and I did want to find a fix for the wall jump with the stairs but didn't have time. Good to know you can get out of the level, and there were some control tutorials at the beginning but maybe some more would have been helpful. For instance, if you hold down the camera did move down to show more screen below you. That may not have always been enough though, it wasn't thoroughly tested.
The animations are a little clunky, but it's a very good submission
Nice work, i like the character/animation. It would be nice to have some kind of background music.
Well done! You certainly have a talent for animation, that is very clear. The game itself is also surprisingly well put together, I think the fact that you can climb is really cool! Good entry :)
