This art is so good!!!!
Cool game, had a lot of trouble trying to draw the circle, it kept placing a new one instead and eventually I stopped holding down to draw and just kept clicking instead. Other ways to improve would be to add some way to throw items. I always wanted to keep items I found near the circle and having a way to throw them would save a lot of walking time. Otherwise, Awesome submission, great work!
thanks for playing @missingpixel ! the circle outline resets itself when you don't follow the dots, but maybe I made that too punishing. As for keeping items near the circle, That's kind of what the dash was intended for, the dash is unlimited so you can move around the house quickly and stack your items up.
Got 2:50! (hopefully that's good) - really awesome gameplay! It took me a bit to figure out how the boxes work, but other than that the controls were pretty intuitive. Would definitely play a longer version with more steps, great job!
That was great! Only thing I could think of is to show how to light candles in the UI with the other explainers. Nice work
This is a lot of fun once you get in the rhythm of the controls.
Hi! what a cool grab and drop mechanic, with interactic crosshair. Nice game feel. Thank you
Fantastic game - took me three tries to get the hang of it, but it was satisfying enough of a game loop that I was _determined_ to get to the end of the game.
Grab system is so fun and the dash animation is so smooth!
Very innovative concept with opening the boxes and dragging things out. It can be a bit hard to identify what things are at first, but it never ceases to amaze me how you can represent objects with only a few pixels. Great pixel art!
this was very cool, the game holds tension well, really appreciate the detailed control screen
good game, i strugle a bit painting the circle but thankfully was more paint around, i really like the style, good job!
Awesome and very polished game. I enjoyed playing it. At first, I was intimidated by the large tutorial, but in fact, playing wasn't difficult. Everything is done very consistently and with high quality. Well done!
nice game, i like it. good atmosphere, but i struggle with circle, it moved with brush, but i restarted and it fixed
Very interesting idea. Love this graphics
wow, awesome gameplay it realy switch my "panic mode" on. barely make it for the first time:)
Cool game, awesome graphics!
Here are my first impressions. Hope they're helpful. :)
1) I wished there was a tutorial level, where I could build the summoning circle in peace, just to try it out and figure out how it works. (no timer, all the items right there to use)
2) I was very overwhelmed by the how to play page. That was just way too much text!
3) It was hard to find the paint brush in the dark. Maybe a more unique shape or lighter handle would help.
I really liked the vibes and the atmosphere of the game. Good job with the game! Keep it up! :)
Wow! This is a great interpretation of the theme. It's clean, elegant, and really well executed. All of the sprites, vfx and sfx are exceptionally well done. I really enjoyed the cadence of the game, and the match-striking minigame was very satisfying. I wish the house was a bit more well lit, or had the option to light torches in the rooms, as I lost paint buckets fairly frequently to the dark. Painting a circle was almost impossible, and like above posters, I resorted to tapping right click. The cadence of the game was superb, and the escalation of rubble and banging on the barricades really helped build tension. Great submission, I really enjoyed it!
It's an interesting concept, I like that the scenario changes in each game. Good job!
Woah, thats so preety. I really love how it looks. And it's a really fun game overall! I know many people said here that they struggled with painting, but I'll add my insight anyway. It feels like your cursor is a bit "higher than the floor". It took me one run of wasted paint to understand that it paints below. Candles (and other items) do that too - they fall below of where you "feel you put them". I know it makes sense that you hold something over the floor, but it's confusing for players when they have to target the floor. I don't know if it's deliberate or oversight or whatever, I'm just trying to help you realize what the problem could be if you happen to need that. Regardless, it's not a big deal. There are a lot of mechanics here and the other ones feel great. I'm looking forward to see what you'll come up with next LD!
Thanks for playing @thelastslowpoke ! I actually originally intended to not have a curser at all, your meant to focus on your hands more than the curser, its only really there so that you have a general idea of where your mouse is. I think i definitely should have made the painting point on the mouse, but picking up and dropping items was always meant to be based off hand positioning. Once you start focusing on your players hand positioning it becomes easier to place or do things in the correct spot (I wanted people to raise their hands to drop things) I do understand the issues though, maybe its something to change after the jam!
I'm gonna be completely honest with you - I didn't realize those are hands ^^ I tought of it like of an indicator of what is interactive and I thought it should just be on some item closest to cursor. Sometimes it felt weird near boxes. I played it again and it feels better when I know that those are hands. I can see now why it works the way it works and why you happen to make it like that. It's funny how sometimes stuff like this happens when making games. You have a fun idea like working with hands, but it turns out it obscures controls or something. Btw I just thought of a fun way to make the painting more intuitive - just hold the brush upside down! Tweak the size/length of it and where it is held so that the tip would point exactly where the splotch shows up.
I do like the graphics and vibes of this a lot!
The gameplay is good but there's a lot of info on that initial How To Play screen - I think more of a gradual tutorial would be great in not making you feel as overwhelmed.
