Did you leave the game in draft mode? I’m getting a 404 when trying to access it on itch.

Sorry to say, there's no game at that link. 😢
Yeah, I'm also getting a 404. Shame because the premise sounds quite clever.
I believe the link should work now, sorry about that. @onsson @gamedevsourcery @mduo13 Let us know if there are still problems. Thanks for letting us know.
I was able to get the Linux build to run, although I had to rename `Content/warninglightSheet.xnb` to `Content/warningLightSheet.xnb` (I had to capitalize the L). Makes sense because Windows filesystems are not case-sensitive but Linux ones are.
As for the game itself, it was confusing. I lost several times, for reasons I still don't understand, before I actually figured out how to pick up the good pieces and put them where they're supposed to go. What is the game-over condition anyway? I was just drilling all the pieces at first which wasn't very productive, but I couldn't tell. The score is very small, and the animations are a bit limited so there's not all that much to go on to figure out where the drill will hit or which piece I'll pick up.
Still, I love the premise.
@mduo13 The Linux version is now fix, thanks for the heads up an the very constructive feedback.
The game was quite confusing at first. I immediately understood that I needed to pick up the blocks and put them through the slots but it was unclear why I was doing it. The game heavily resembles Tetris and as a result, I naturally started playing it like Tetris. I assumed that any blocks reaching the top would result in a game over which meant I couldn't keep up as the speed increased. Once I got the hang of it though, I really started to enjoy playing it. It's a pretty addictive game and I could honestly play it for hours. With a few tweaks and a short tutorial, it has the potential to be a great game.
After a few attempts, my high score was 930 which was when the game bugged out and my character flew through the roof :D tetromino.png
This is a really cool twist on [That Tetromino Game]. I had to go back and revisit the controls a couple of times, but that is my memory! This defo has some legs to run! Big up Linux port always lovely to see and awesome to see Monogame used!
My 10 year old loves your game, we moved on to play other games and then she asked to come back to yours. Top score finally over 800. Small bug with the character moving for some reason butI couldn't replicate it. - Really great entry!
I was completely confused by what exactly I had to do. But after a while I got the hang of it and had a lot of fun.
The controls took some getting used to for me-- something about using WASD along with space to jump, it was hard to get the hang of it. But I like the concept and the art!
Very confusing at first you could make a tutorial or something but after i got the hang of it i liked it. Good work great take on the mix of Tetris and Limited space.
Great mix-up of an otherwise very familiar play space. Good choice on the genre of music to use as a soundtrack. I got up 870 points in my last try! I found that by staying in the bottom right corner, the reduced travel distance lets you almost instantly fill up the right-hand queue when the next 4 lines come in. This easily got me to 600-ish, at which point the debris blocks started becoming too numerous for the strategy to remain reliable.
A small complaint, and 2 suggestions:
- the alarm sound starts to grate on my ears when it's on for more than 5 seconds. I'm not sure if the "next level"/next 4 lines trigger timing is pre-programmed or reacting to the game state, but there were several times when the alarm would (to my ears) not stop once the new lines were in play but continue on regardless. It *did* help make the situation tense, but the alarm sound just made it really hard to concentrate and I ended up overall feeling like I couldn't properly push my mechanical skill at the game to its fullest.
- it would be nice to have and indicator of your block grabbing/breaking range, maybe a highlight of which block(s) will be affected by a grab or break given the current player position and orientation. It took me a couple of runs to realize that it's more than just the block in front of the drill I see in the visual animation.
- it would be nice to be able to pick up blocks while in the middle of a jump/fall, if you're pressed up against them.
Overall a fun game, and I definitely felt the theme come through!
Now I finally know who to blame for not giving me any I-pieces.
Interesting game. A little confusing at first but was pretty fun collecting the pieces and putting it in the right.
An interesting approach to tetris. Simple and pleasant.
simple and fun game it matched the theme really well.
Once I understood what was going on, I enjoyed this quite a bit. Although, I did have to read some of the other comments to figure out what I had to do - but a little tutorial could fix that real easy. But the game was springily addictive, and the simple controls really helped that. I tapped out at 800, when I got stuck in the roof when the level raised while I was near the top. But overall lots of fun!
The first couple of times I was game over in a flash but the latest run lasted till about a score of 500. It was kind of strange just picking up blocks and dumping them on the right side, without understanding why. I read your story after playing so that made it clearer. It looks nice but as told above the alarm sound was maybe a bit much. Great job for getting a finished game though! Nice work.
The game is interesting, it was quite nice to play it, keep working on it and everything will be cool
