Fun game and very interesting concept. I like the notion that your attempts repeat forever. Seems like these mechanics could work really well for a game that grows small sections of effort into an supermassive army of attempts.

bonus points for how hard the music bopped and how happy the guy was to get his delivery at the end

zhiteng-chen 2023-05-02 11:19

Perfect game. I like your simple mechanic and level design. Even though dragging me back to the past sometimes cause frustration. Welcome to play my game too.

bauke-regnerus 2023-05-02 11:20

This game is a lot of fun with a unique concept with time travel. The mechanics work well, allowing you to grow their efforts into a massive army. The music is great, and the ending is satisfying. Overall addictive and enjoyable. Good job.

milkyjoe73 2023-05-02 11:21

Very cool concept! Also really liked the rewind effect good stuff

koos 2023-05-02 11:29

I really liked the time travel system combined with the graphics. The delete button didn't work so i think i missed a part of the game, but overall it looks great and I liked it!

kosmik123 2023-05-02 11:35

I got stuck when I died near checkpoint and everytime it automatically rewound time I started dead (think that's the reason) obraz_2023-05-02_133424374.png.

But most of the time this game was fun to play. Good work

sodoj 2023-05-02 11:57

I love that one world in Braid where you have to work with your clone so I found myself right at home at this game. One small thing i found annoying is that checkpoints don't replenish your time when you touch them, meaning you have to rewind back either way which is kind of annoying. Another thing that confused me is that the game says you have to press "delete" on your keyboard to manually rewind time while the rewind button was actually backspace, you might want to fix that! :p The game looked great and the music kicked ass, I had a really good time overall with this one!

unclear-physicist 2023-05-02 11:58

Hands-down the best game I've played so far this jam, and unlikely to be topped. Awesome job!

jamesw 2023-05-02 12:33

The best game I've ever played this jam.

Quantum Post sounds a bit hardcore, but the game is very player-friendly and fun.

I love the feeling of suddenly discovering the relation between my phantom and the puzzles and my phantom could kill me. Animation is a bit lengthy (especially when I die very early) but not annoying .

One thing I notice is dash doesn't have strong relation with time rewind or phantom, perhaps this part could be considered more?

Another thing that suddenly came to my mind during my gameplay is what if my phantom can be somehow viewed as part of the "real-me"? like the "real-me" can open doors for my phantoms, if my phantoms reach some points, it can be viewed as the "real-me" reach some points so that I can start from those points after rewind. Will this add more fun?

Anyway, reallllly love your game. (I hate those flying stones!)

emaigualmc2-art 2023-05-02 15:31

Great idea and mechanics!! I liked it a lot. I found it super fun and interesting to use time travel, meet a version of my past and not have the universe collapse on itself jejeje!

eli-delventhal 2023-05-02 16:49

@koos As others mentioned, it's actually the backspace key. D'oh! I should update that text.

@kosmik123 Yeah a couple people told me there's a bug here! I will look into and maybe update the entry if I can repro. Looks like maybe you get killed while rewinding time.

And thanks everyone else for the feedback!

smeljey 2023-05-03 18:16

This is a really unique concept! These quantum puzzles are simple but great. It took me a while to accidently find out that I need to use backspace instead of the delete key to rewind, but other than that - it is a nice game!

reed-molbak 2023-05-03 18:18

This game was great, I had a lot of fun with it! I ran into the same bug kosmik123 did so I wasn't able to finish, I think it was the same checkpoint too.

I thought the core mechanic was great, there's a lot of possibility there

rrsmtz 2023-05-03 18:37

Very cool! I think some of the concepts could have been explained a bit clearer (like what if you pick up the powerup multiple times?), but very good job.

firellon 2023-05-03 20:55

This is actually quite a solid puzzle. Reminds me of a good old LD entry Moustache Armies.

Well doen!

joe-stack 2023-05-04 02:29

Tons of fun, I could see this concept developing into a much longer game, there's so much that can be done with the rewind mechanic. The art and sound really take it over the top, very well polished for such a short time. Only suggestion would be if there was a way to clear the current level's ghosts. I was messing around with the sword and accidentally bricked a level and had to restart because I had too many ghosts stabbing in random directions all over the place

calamador 2023-05-04 02:56

Really solid gameplay loop you made here! I like how it introduces the concept and then reinforces it through progressively harder and harder challenges. I unfortunately got stuck at the part with the cannons and the levers and couldn't get past it but I had a lot of fun with the bits that I did play. Also amazing job getting such a complete game done basically solo with art, dialogue, and sound! I think my favorite part was the pressure plate puzzle where I learned that past selves can interact with the world. Though having my past selves stab me in the back was a bit of a surprise haha. Nice work.

eli-delventhal 2023-05-04 04:56

@kosmik123 @reed-molbak I believe I fixed that bug. Maybe. My code is shit. :)

@firellon Never heard of Mustache Armies but looked it up – great concept, and wow it got 4th place! Interestingly enough their entry is much closer to what I *wanted* to do here, but they were smarter and didn't do time reversal at all, they just stored clone data. I spent so much time implementing the camera going backwards and everything reversing when really it's just a cool effect and doesn't have anything to do with gameplay, haha. Anyway yeah I wanted a huge "army" of clones running around doing puzzles with you.

@joe-stack Yeah, I wanted to make the spawn area totally safe but didn't get around to it. Best option is to try to stab all the naughty clones as soon as you can. Later you get the dash and you mash that at the start to avoid swords as well.

jward 2023-05-05 14:51

Wow, that was awesome! The time mechanic was wild, and the music and sfx were a good fit. I did find that with dash, I could jump off the track and skip the last couple puzzles. Great work!

enad96 2023-05-06 12:25

Such a fun little puzzle action game, loved your ideas.

python-b5 2023-05-08 07:12

This is a really cool mechanic! It works surprisingly well considering this was done in 48h, too, so nice work getting it all together on time. The game is pretty fun, too---I just wish the font was easier to read, since the current one is hard on the eyes.

python-b5 2023-05-08 07:12

(somehow my comment posted twice, so just editing this one to point it out---sorry about that!)

thesmellofoxygen 2023-05-12 15:42

Impressive puzzle setup. I liked the different shades of outline for each quantum clone. It made me feel clever at times, a good feeling. It's unfortunate that you couldn't incorporate more of the theme.

Visually, I liked the color scheme and most of the art. However, the player animations are way too fast and feel bad. The cannons are oddly high contrast compared to the nice shades of purple and blue that all the rest of the level has as well.

michelle-go 2023-05-15 17:47

fine puzzle set up

zungryware 2023-05-17 05:20

I got softlocked part way through. Time wouldn't get rewound far enough and I would still be dead.

DELETED

eli-delventhal 2023-05-20 21:58

@jward @enad96 @python-b5 @michelle-go Thank you for the feedback and kind words!

@thesmellofoxygen Yeah I changed the color palette midway through and forgot to update the cannons. :poop:

@zungryware Dang I was hoping I had fixed that. Sorry about that, a few other people had this issue as well.
