Wonderful job on the presentation. Clean aesthetic and UI. I think it would've been fun if there were more things to micromanage. Since harvesters auto-harvest and turrets auto-aim you have lulls in the gameplay where you're just waiting for more resources.

Homeworld! I like it. I don't think the "attack" purchase was worth it at all, lol.

obe-dot 2023-05-02 18:17

This is really incredible.

juliansd 2023-05-02 18:36

Completed the whole game, and it is really well polished, but wish there was more depth in the gameplay. well done!

greenrose7 2023-05-02 18:40

Super stylish! I love the dark ship against space look, and a clever way to make it look clean.

All I could say was that I wanted more! The 500c upgrades along the bottom seem like they just switch modes, which was a bit of a let down as I wanted to buy some bigger permanent upgrades for the mothership!

Awesome work!

thunderchief 2023-05-02 18:46

Game is amazing. Just short of maxing every rating. I just don't think the ship enhancements have a meaningful purpose besides the repair. Have a option to build more havester would be nice, most of the time i was just sitting there waiting for the harvesting. For the upgrade of the silos, maybe add a "homing missiles " enhancements, because the base missile tend to miss a lot which is frustating.

+ Graphics + Music + Overall ambiance + I just love starships, you talk to my heart

- silo missiles miss more often than note - harvesting slowing down gameplay a lot - enhancements effects dubious

Great great entry, i love it !

I just loved this. The ambience is superb! Audio really brings it home, with the simple - yet appealing - graphics. Amazing work, @sherwin-claridge . Done very simple, yet in very good taste. I'd only say, if you're going to embed it, think about font sizes and all that. It's not like everyone is going expand to fullscreen. Anyway, that's just a usability detail in the middle of an otherwise incredible work.

I loved the mood. It was perfect for a deep space adventure. Pretty fun too. I'd like to see more.

emily-ttg 2023-05-02 19:29

Really cool! Its very in-depth for an LD game and definitely something I'd love to see expanded on. I did spend quite a while mousing around in the void not realising that I had to go right, and the default speed feels a mile too slow. But all in all really solid experience ;D

I was worried for a little harvester a lot... apparently it is invisible to enemy and was mining even under enemy base. It also sometimes would fly like two screens away while chasing those asteroids, even though there were a lot of them right next to the Mothership! Just like a little kid it was!

No one told me there is supper cannon. I updated all my guns and harvested a ton of credits for repairs in a battle with defence system just to nuke it from the safe distance hahaha Where is my beautiful explosion? :< was so anticlimatic.... :(((

For tutorial would love arrows showing where the enemy base is. At first I was confused that its from where enemies arrived from and that was a bad choice! Also would love stats for ship itself and updates at the bottom... I was discouraged to switch power, since it costed so much, until very end, since I had no idea how any of them actually worked. Of course I also wasn't aware about nuke cannon ;p

But loved chill vibe of the game overal. Music and autmosphere plus that mothership gave me vibes from a game long-long forgotten - I think, maybe, it was Homeworld.. Not sure. But I enjoyed it for sure! Thank you :)

I thought the mood and graphics were on point. I do have a few suggestions for improvement though:

- The harvester seemed to just grab resources randomly. While practically speaking, this doesn't really matter, there were several moments where the mothership was sitting next to some asteroids doing nothing while the harvester was doing its thing off screen, and it *felt* as if nothing was happening, even though it objectively was. Having the harvester prioritize asteroids closest to the mothership would help the player feel more involved in the process. - For me, it seemed like missiles would just fire off in random directions sometimes? It didn't seem like the 90degrees issue you mentioned. - It would be good if you gave some indication of where my ultimate destination was. You can't zoom out that far and the scroll speed wasn't fast, so I spent a long time scrolling around looking for the enemy base. You'll probably lose a lot of people at that point. - I think it would help if there was some description of what my ship upgrades were going to do ahead of time. It would give me something concrete to look forward to, and would help trigger that "oh I just need a bit more to get this exciting thing" reaction in players that will keep them going.

This is a very well done game. It reminds me of the golden age of flash games. The upgrades and auto aim was really good. I loved the old school "Mothership" acknowledgment, though it is used too often xD.

Some things of feedback: The movement speed seems to be based on how far your movement command is, which is not intuitive and results in some tedious behavior. It would be amazing if I could choose what upgrade to put on which hardpoint,t o have some custimization and expression of what I want to do. The missile aiming was not working very well. They had about a 50/50 to actually go towards an enemy. Maybe next time, you can foxus on having multiple versions of the same weapon and the same behavior. (Gun with slower projectiles but more dmg, higher fire rate but more expensive etc.) to get some more diversity without having to write new logic.

I really enjoyed this entry and my feedback is just to show how much I would love to see a concept such as this improved and expanded upon. Good going!!

Your game is like a tower defense game with hair on it. I couldn't find a lot of resources but you did a really good job. Very inspirational for ideas for game I could write. Thanks

panpukin 2023-05-06 10:59

Super fun game, managed to destroy the enemy! At first I really struggled trying to figure out how to upgrade your ship and fire weapons at enemies... I kept trying to upgrade by clicking the buttons at the bottom, but reading through the page description made it clear xP Lovely atmosphere and gameplay. If this game had more little things to do and micromanage, some polish for the UI, and some UX improvements (further zoom, make it easier to find enemies, maybe set up bases and waypoints, etc.) then this would be something I'd actually buy and play. :D

misterixi 2023-05-06 15:20

I agree with a lot of the things other commenters mentioned. Like my first missile shots always missing (shooting in the previous targeted direction?)

The update you are planning looks promising, so I'll just leave my personal two main gripes with the jam version: The harvester would've been fine for me if he didn't seemingly endlessly break for everything. Looks to me like the classic distance/2 sort of velocity calculation. It seems like the harvester gets as close to velocity 0 as possible. And waiting for that made it almost like it was taunting me . So if it would just move at a more constant speed, or at least not break as much as it does it would make it already way better.

Also for me it was not clear that the "ship enhancements" were more like switching modes. So I wasted a quite a bit of resources to learn what the buttons did. Which made me wait longer for the taunting harvester.

That aside, I really liked the experience. Great job!
