I love the art and general vibe. I think "delivering the loot idea" is very interesting to expand upon. 1 little bug, when you throw a loot when you are close to wall it clips through the wall, and you lose it. Very well made!

darkwolf 2023-05-02 05:48

A fun little game that is surprisingly difficult. A few bits of feedback: the dart trap projectiles felt oddly slow and the throwing distance seemed inconsistent on occasion, though I suspect this was due to it using the player's momentum in the calculation, or something similar.

I found 2 bugs. The simpler one is that if you press up against a wall and throw a piece of loot it wall launch out of bounds. I have not figured out how to reproduce the second one, but I fell out of bounds twice, both times landing on top of a corner if that helps.

lucas-taniolo 2023-05-03 05:07

@chuckiee @darkwolf thanks for the feedback! Those bugs are a pain, I'll try fixing them.

mkraw 2023-05-03 07:32

I like the art, I like how you can use the chests as weapons there's a bug where you fall off the map bug.png

evilgeniusdance 2023-05-03 07:44

I've found it fun, but a bit difficult for someone who isnt into platformers. Threw loot through the wall a few times :D

The art and music create a really nice vibe!

mow 2023-05-03 08:10

Amazing, the concept is very close to what we've made too ! I like platformer vide, it's a bit tricky to control with keyboard an mouse for me, I'd love to play a gamepad version of it. Graphics and music are very cool ! Great work !

johnsensei 2023-05-04 01:18

Nice concept and level design. I tried plugging in a controller to see if that would work but it didn't. Controller support would have been really nice. FYI, the character keeps jumping (or at least the sound effect plays) during the Next Level screen.

I really liked the game. Especially art and mechanics. I've never played a game that requires you to hold the mouse button down. It really feels like you're holding something. It was a great idea.

Congratulations for the game!

PS. It has some problems with collision that hinder the gameplay a little, but I'm sure that after fixing this game it will be even better.

ps2. The dash mechanic is good, but I only used it twice in the entire game. Thinking about stretches where the dash is extremely necessary would be cool too.

Very nice take on the theme! The graphics are really nice too.

A couple of nitpicks: -Movement and especially loot throwing feel a bit floaty.Taking down enemies kinda lacks impact. -The arrow reload animation would probably be more useful as a telegraph just before the arrows are shot?

abipup 2023-05-05 21:46

Loved it!!!! fourth level was a bit tricky but i managed 2 finish it:) nice job

nico-drake 2023-05-05 23:07

I loved the art, really great work, using the boxes through the level to kill and block feels really great, particle systems gives that juicy feel as you play. Really well done!!

euler-moises 2023-05-06 02:06

É brazuca mano?!? E nem falou?!?

:D

"Tamo junto!"

yuriscat 2023-05-06 05:56

Your pixel art is amazing! It's fantastic! The animation is also very detailed! I also noticed that there are particle details of coins falling when the character moves. I'm wondering why your rating count is so low. I will tell my friends to rate your game.

yuriscat 2023-05-06 05:58

I also noticed that the distance the boxes and money bags are thrown is different, which is determined by their weight. Additionally, when a monster collides with a box, it gives the box a certain amount of displacement. These details are really great!

luriq 2023-05-06 06:11

hey @yuriscat, thank you very much for the kind word! We didn't have the time yet to test too many games, but I would accept your friends ratings with good grace!

Some details were planned, others were small accidents that became features, if u know what I mean lol

luriq 2023-05-06 06:12

@euler-moises noix

yuriscat 2023-05-06 06:19

@luriq Haha, I didn't expect that some of the details came from accidents. But that's life, right? A little accident and coincidence can make our life more colorful. Wish you and your team a great day! Hope you can get a good score!:sparkles:

nardandas 2023-05-06 08:27

Really cute little animations! I felt the bits of randomness in the box and bag throw distances kind of kept back what was otherwise a really cool game. It was difficult to use them to kill enemies as I wanted to. Maybe it's just my playstyle. Overall good job though!

poppy-entertainment 2023-05-06 10:48

the gameplay is simple enough to play it instantly but the presence of elements like the chests as weapones and the fact that the trow distances are influenced byt the wight and the speed of the character. also very nice pixel art

joao-marcello 2023-05-06 12:19

Amazing pixel art! The care you had with details is impressive! Liked the music and SFX too.

However, I found a bit tricky play it with mouse and keyboard combination, maybe add an option to play only on keyboard might be a good idea...

Overall a great submission! Good job!

elisagonda 2023-05-06 18:19

i really loved the art and the music! what a cute game, i would love to keep playing it if more levels were added ^^ its chill but also challenging

robonaut121 2023-05-06 21:15

Nice submission! I especially loved the art and music! As for the gameplay, while enjoyable most of the time, I have a few notable criticisms:

- When playing I noticed that the throwing trajectories were weird and unpredictable. Later on, I experimented with it, and found out throwing is stronger to the left??!! The throw can also be amplified by moving the player in that direction, which despite making some sense, is confusing when you first throw stuff while running, and then try it while standing still only for it to fall completely flat. I've attached a gif of me demonstrating all of these odd trajectories, but they should really all be constant.

ThrowingTrajectories.gif

- The platforming physics are mostly fine, feels a little floaty, but my main gripe with the platforming is that there's no coyote time or jump buffering. (If you don't know what I mean, jump buffering is allowing the player to hit jump just before they hit the ground and still jump, and coyote time is allowing the player to jump a fraction of a second after they leave the ground. They're two techniques commonly used by platforming games to prevent players from thinking the game is unresponsive and to stop people shouting I P R E S S E D T H E B U T T O N) If you coded the platformer controller from scratch during the timeframe, what you got done is pretty impressive, but if you intend to use the same script over multiple projects, definitely prioritize adding these features.

- The animations look really smooth, but they can kinda break at times. When you hit the very corner of a platform, they game can still think you're falling (although this is more of a code / physics issue than an animation controller one), and you can cancel the death animation with a dash, allowing you to just walk on the spot after dying if you happen to be on the ground (this doesn't change gameplay, just looks kinda wrong).

- The boxes' / bags' friction seems to be too high. It's very unsatisfying for you to throw one at an enemy only for it to bonk the ceiling, lose all X velocity and miss the enemy completely. I understand you probably just cranked up Unity's friction to the max so it would actually stop when it hit the ground, but sometimes coding the physics can help for throwable objects. Perhaps making it very slippery, but manually coding it to slow to a halt when touching ground could help?

- Level 3 caused me probably more pain than it should have. Apart from generally being a difficulty spike from Level 2, I started by carrying one box the entire way. I could provide the required amount of bags, as there were 2 bags down at the bottom half of the level, but I was pretty irritated when I tried to get back up to get a second box only to find I couldn't make the jump.

Sorry if this came off as mostly negative, but I enjoyed the game overall! Good job!

luriq 2023-05-06 21:46

Hey @joao-marcello Thank you for the comment, Im glad that you liked it!

About the controls, you don't need the mouse to play, though. We put alternative control options on the Main Menu, Tutorial and page description also lol!

I found this game to be quite fun! Although, like others have mentioned, I ended up out of bounds somehow. As for feedback, there isn't much I could say that others haven't already said.

n0va 2023-05-20 00:18

I found it quite fun. Ireally liked the pixel art and music went well with the vibe that it had going. GG Good Game C:
