Very good game with a good idea. Graph and the concept are really cool, maybe the interaction with lantern are a little bit weird but it's ok, you did a good job, gg!

My favorite game so far, the music is so good!! And it is so adorable!!
Really nice job! The lantern mechanic was hard to understand at first, but after some time, everything was smooth. Sometimes the double jump didn't work, but still, the game was very enjoyable. Very cute graphics, and very good animations. The music was magnificent! How did you made it?
@greenphox aaah, thank you so much! i made the music using garageband on mac, haha — putting some chords down and then plonking whatever melody comes to mind :)
Cute and comfy mood, with a nice chill music. I love love love the character sprite and animations, simple and effective with a lot of charm. I found the lantern swing a little difficult at first but figured out the rules and then had not too much trouble afterwards. Really nice game!
Super cute game <3 :D Great cutscenes! Love the little ghost(?) characters <3.
The physics for the lanterns is a bit strange. The way you interact with them is as if they are seesaws, where they tilt downwards towards where the most weight is, but they are set up like they are swings, which should move more based on momentum. They also lack inertia which is a gameplay problem since you can't stand on one side then switch to the other side before they start to move back to the center. Physics problems might not be your thing but I find solving stuff like this interesting. Making swinging lanterns with believable physics would be a fun challenge imo.
Wow I love the art style, very clever use of the lanterns. Pretty challenging and fun. Nice work!
Kind hard to figure it out the lamps logic, but besides that lovely fun game :) great entry!!
Cute little game! Great game mechanic of using laterns to move forward. Nice entry!
I like how there's more to the swinging mechanic than at first meets the eye; getting a high jump if you get the lantern at the right angle is a really nice touch.
A neat platformer with a mid game powerup too :D
Great music and art, and a fun little platformer story to play through! I really liked unlocking the double jump part way through the game. The variety of different lanterns was neat, and I liked having stable platforms often to rest on. Your placement of checkpoints was really nicely designed, too. Excellent work on finishing your game! :)
nice platforming game! love the music and art.
good job.
Very nice cozy atmosphere, I like the art and the intro was cool. The lanterns were kinda buggy though, they sometimes make big discrete jumps into different positions - also I feel it would be cool if they preserved the momentum so the swinging would require some work. Overall, nice entry.
I beat it! Love the art and atmosphere, very challenging. Well done!
Cute little game, very cozy. The art/animations were lovely and the platforming was much harder than I expected haha. Great stuff overall!
The selection of concept is very good, but it is a pity that the production time may be too short, thus there are some problems in the gameplay. The lantern jumping platform in the middle often twitches, and the characters easily slip to the bottom of the cliff. However the art and music are great. I like them very much. They make me want to play again.
Cute!
A suggestion to fix the occasionally janky lanterns - it seems like the physics would sometimes act like the player wasn't on the lantern and so start resetting back to the default position. Instead of resetting straight away, if you added a brief delay before they reset, then it would fix some of the issues.
Having the reset happen less quickly, or as others have suggested, having some momentum would also help a bit I think.
But I still had fun despite that! The music was really nice :)
We also went for the tenuous mid-autumn festival link to the theme! Although ours has nowhere near enough mooncake! Love the little story you put with it giving a sense of progression and achievement at the end with adorable cutscenes and characters. You kept it interesting with the lantern variation and adding the double jump halfway through as well as some interesting platforms so it wasn't always just left to right.
The graphics were very simple and cute and all worked nicely together giving a super cute vibe and chill mood with the relaxing music. The jump animation was super cute with the cap coming off and the parallax background was a nice touch meaning that it didn't fel to static. The game looks very nice and complete, especially given the compo time constraints! A little audio when jumping/landing might have been a nice addition just to give the player a bit of feedback but I didn't feel like it was overly missing anything since the visual feedback with the jump animation was really nice.
As people have mentioned before, the lantern physics don't quite work how you'd expect. They act a bit more like a see-saw rather than a swing so it was very confusing at first! Once I got used to how it worked, I did manage to complete it despite being awful at platformers. We did also make a platformer for one jam and didn't realise how difficult it was to get the movement down correctly so awesome job with the player movement feeling pretty smooth!
Overall, really love the atmosphere that the game creates and the story that comes with it. Amazing job, well done!
