Fun game!
The game won't start. It says that filesystem corrupt. Win11
@emty thats rare, is with the upbge engine (blender game engine) nothing corrupt in there, is a clean compilation
@huskitch thank you, im glad you enjoy it!
@dreamerflow Well i`m using blender aswell, and have 2.79 and 3.3 installed. So, dunno what`s wrong
@emty You open the green icon "Stranded in Mars"? Is not the blender player the exe
@dreamerflow sure
That was pretty cool. I had to retry a bunch of times until I finally managed to escape, but it was fun trying to figure out what to do.
There were issues with the hitboxes though. It was frustrating at times seeing the text say "Press E to grab the tank" but I would mash E with nothing happening. Before I realized it was a bug, I thought I was doing something wrong, like I was supposed to press a button on the machine or something. I even tried deciphering that flowchart on the side :P
Another big issue was that the only way I realized that you needed 3 tanks of methane was by inferring it from the screenshot you posted here. I never would have thought to point my flashlight at it. The clock is ticking, my oxygen is runnign low, and there ain't no time for fooling around with the flashlight!
And finally, the only other main issue I encountered was that the camera FOV was insanely low. It was super disorienting to go inside the enclosed space of the space module and the room with the health kit. That type of thing can cause motion sickness for some people, just FYI.
But besides that, the game is solid. It's straightforward once you know what to do, but you did a good job with making the world interesting enough that I wanted to explore it. I found a little martian dude minding his own business, and some kind of chamber thing which didn't seem to do anything.
@ale Thanks a lot for the great feedback, the collisions works fine, you need to be in the spot, like for take a tank you need to be below, the text appears for 3 seconds,in the ship below the tank you have 3 squares that turn green when you load a tank, in the machine you can make oxygen or methane but not at the same time, I know the movement is not the best but im glad you make it, very funny that you see the martian dude lol, thanks for play it!
oh my! you made this using SDL, you're such a nerd and I love it as a fellow nerd! I really like how you went low level with this one and made something that is playable!
Good job on the modeling I think it's nice, also like the story element of the game reminds me of the start of No Man's Sky. though the game was a bit dark on my monitor I managed to figure things out once the flashlight started working. great job man this was creative!
I found the game controls a bit difficult but kudos on actually doing some Blender work for such a short jam - I'm envious! Well done :)
Well done for making a 3D game in such a short amount of time! I found it kinda hard to work out what to do
@0x-void-x0 thanks a lot for the nice feedaback! I use the upbge engine, is a little dark to contrast the flashlight, im glad you liked, thank you nerd buddy lol
Thank you!
@sash-a thank you, there is a gameplay linked in the page of the game
As others have said, very cool to have a 3D game like this on a jam! There's a good little atmosphere and I had a good time, even if I didn't manage to finish haha
@heine-hohenhart Thanks a lot! im glad you liked and your comments it keep me going, Im gonna play your game later
Cool game! I had no idea that there was a blender game engine. The battery life on that flashlight is atrocious!
@rocket-and-blankyb Yes,is a very intersting engine, the flashlight have some critical damage and only last 10 sec lol, thanks lot for that words
Really nice idea! Good job. (:
First time I played I died without accomplishing anything, second time I figured out what to do and died while waiting for methane, and the third time I beat the game. It was satisfying to gradually figure out what to do, and I think the game did just enough to hint at what you had to do to win.
I'd say the biggest negative is the lack of feedback, making it hard to tell whether anything you're doing is working. Sometimes things wouldn't respond to interaction, sometimes they would only respond after a slight delay, and sometimes it would be like a thirty second delay, where you have to anxiously wonder whether anything is actually happening or you screwed up somehow. But despite that, I was still able to beat the game, and I enjoyed it. Good job.
Cool game, like the 3D graphics and mission!
@cogent-invalid Thank you! Im glad you liked and give it a try 3 times and get to the end, but I think has some feedback with sound effects and the UI tell you how much oxygen and methane have, the decreasing of the health and the interactions with the objects, there are some orientation in the instructions, I don´t know, is not perfect, not even close, is only a 3 days prototype, but i am pretty proud of it, part of the game is also figure it out, thanks for the feedback
@goldenxd Thank you! happy that you liked it
@msplanlos Thanks a lot! Im glad you like it
Really nice and moody game, absolutely loved the atmosphere. I had a ton of trouble finding things as the world was totally dark and my flashlight didn't take me so far. I liked the themeing and wished I could've engaged with it a bit more.
@nardandas Is ok bro, thank you for the feedback and streaming the game, the 10 sec flashlight don't help to much but you can still see what you need, im glad that you really like the atmosphere at least, Im gonna try your game, seems really cool
Awesome Game. Enjoyed the overall concept and gameplay. really enjoyed the 10 seconds factor you imlemented in the game. A little more work from the SFX sides would have done wonder. But still a great job keep it up. Please do check out my submission as well.
@baylock Thanks a lot! Yes, 3 days don´t let me take care of all aspects of the game as I would like, im really glad you liked, thank you for the kind words, of course I will check your game
Rather enjoy the game, took a bit to finally beat it though but worth it for something that is a little hard sci-fi.
Something that might help is some player feedback in game. It took a moment for some key presses to register, and possible an on screen checklist of items needed for the ship launch.
@defilerzero Nice feedback and ideas, Im glad you liked, thank you!
That's a nice game, with a great ambience, but a little bit too dark !
@mandytoh thank you! That's why you have the flashlight lol
Simple but very effective, well done! Especially for doing it solo!
@mickxe Thanks a lot! yes, is not easy
Cool game. The game looks good and plays well. Nice work.
Awesome solo work! Simple and fun. I didn't have ay issues with brightness, just an FYI.
@b3b0 Thanks a lot, thats good to know, glad you liked
Alas, I could not run this on Linux. Tried the ol "Pass the executable to the Linux blenderplayer via command line" but that was segfaulting. Used UPBGE 0.2.5.b. Didn't have much luck with wine either. I'll give it another try when I have more time.
@organicpencil Sorry about that, I don´t know if it works in linux, now I know, is the green icon, doesn´t work with blender player, I have to put it as source code
