Like the 2D/3D style of the game! Also to choose the rainbow as an evil thing is verry cool choise. Nice looking game with a lot of beautifull art.
Great concept! I like the 3D world with the 2d graphics. The assets look amazing! It seems to be very difficult to burn and beckon animals. Even when i'm very close to them it doesn't react to me left- or right-clicking. The small messages that appear when an animal transforms are funny, and a great way to notify the player that a demon has spawned. Good job!
Really nice art. I love the contrast between the green natural state and the bright corruption state. The beckon messages were a nice touch. I had some minor issues with controls. There was a slight stutter when moving, and I wasn't always sure if my click registered (another reason why the beckon messages were great). I also liked how the scoreboard was separated by animals, because stats are nice.
The corruption effect looks cool !
cool art, especially the corrupted. there was a but of a visual stutter on the sprites when moving though. overall a good submission.
I love the art style! I'm a big fan of 2.5D games like this, and the graphics look great. It's a shame there's no music to go along with it, but that's typical for compo games.
Gameplay was simple, but I think there's a problem with the hitboxes or something because clicks didn't register sometimes.
Anyways, good job!
Liked the art style, and changing the skybox in the corrupt bits was a nice touch. Issues with controls as above. I got 14 rescues.
One of the coolest corruption color palette I've ever seen!
Thank you all for the top quality feedback! I really appreciate it! @Senso @GameJMunk @pincushion @vhalenn @cameron-borthwick @ale @thedashdude @lustdante
I'm duplicating the original game file, and working on a polished version for my uni showcase. I'll be taking all of your suggestions into account, especially the recurring ones like camera & sprite jitter, more responsive movement controls, music & sfx, and better animal click accuracy.
Many thanks!
Really cool concept, sort like The Colour out of Space.
Would have liked some feedback when you click for others to follow you. Can sometimes be hard to know if they are following or not. Also I think having the followers match the player character speed would have been nice.
Also had an issue where the character would start moving upwards, without my giving any inputs.
A very nice looking game. Your graphics are awesome!
I like the rainbow monsters. I'm with others that the game needs more feedback when things happen. But time was limited. Cool concept, and I like the partly 2d partly 3d look
i collected all the animals but i was not able to figure out how to win the game. very cool graphics and an interesting take on the jam theme! kudos.
This looks amazing ^^ really cool idea if a bit hard haha, I tried a few times but always lost :')
Great compo submission! ^^
I managed to save all types of critters with a total of 16 saves.
Man, the visuals! I could tell you spent a lot of time on the sprites and they look really good for a compo game! Balancing your time on every aspect of a jam project is always very difficult, game juice and audio are especially important; it is unfortunate that you didn't have enough time to focus on these, with how creative your concept and art direction are!
I didn't feel so much challenge with how slowly the corruption and enemies were moving, I think this concept has a lot of potential in that regard, with the corrupted tiles restricting your available space. That said, I really loved the random flavor texts and had some... interesting combinations!
For your camera, a cinemachine follow camera with some slight wiggling would have greatly contributed to the game's feel while solving the sprite jitter issue, and having multiple carriages or additional challenges to watch out for would have made escorting animals "feel" shorter and more fun.
A nice submission that makes me wish there were more compo games with good art like this one, congrats!
