NOM!

This is truly an oddly satisfying game. The concept is very simple, but also very effective. Good graphics, sounds and music. Pretty comfortable to play with a gamepad. That said, maybe consider full gamepad support, including the menus?

Good job, I had a lot of fun

Simple concept, but I love the execution! The graphics and sound effects make the game oddly compelling. It's a fun time! (The exit button doesn't seem to quit the game for me btw)

jacobrutter 2022-10-04 22:49

@actuallythemoon thanks for the feedback regarding the exit button, I thought I had fixed that issue. :/ Glad you found it oddly compelling

jacobrutter 2022-10-04 22:50

@mvasko2 I appreciate you playing my game! Thanks for the feedback, I think making the gamepad work for all actions would be a great improvement.

Very polished. The powerup foods were cool but there didn't really seem to be any other than the few in the starting area. Otherwise it was very satisfying to go round sucking up all the cake.

quinn-patrick 2022-10-04 23:36

This is a game that takes a really simple idea and puts it in a fun, well polished package, so good work there. My biggest issue was that the "bonus" foods (the ones that give you powerups) only seem to appear at the beginning of the game, and never again. Is that intentional? Nevertheless I was able to score around 65000 which feels pretty good.

The sound design is good. I like the color palette used for assets. Lovely to look at definitely.

I wished if the meat and coffee have been more frequent though, it become impossible at the end to win without the speed boost which I didn't collect any so far

Another thing I wished I had is the web version (hosted here or on Itch.io) running games is far easier when it's hosted on the web than having to download it. I understand your wish to not receive feedback regarding the frame rate drop but sharing a warning regarding that while also providing web version and the desktop would be sufficient and for me at least I wouldn't have affected the rating.

Other than that, this was good

jacobrutter 2022-10-04 23:51

@quinn-patrick @pegasys The special items (steak, coffee, carrot) should always have 3 (more in later rounds) of each type within a 50 unit circle around the player, but I hadn't confirmed that was working 100% of the time so you may have discovered a bug. Thanks so much for the feedback.

jacobrutter 2022-10-04 23:53

@div00 Great feedback, glad you liked the color palette. In the future I'll always include webGL because it really allows the game to be played more frequently and that's what it's all about--getting that feedback. Thanks for your insights.

div00 2022-10-05 00:03

Thanks @jacobrutter for sharing more details. Good idea though regarding the controlling the spawn and not leaving it completely random. Would definitely get inspiration from

The sounds are great, also it's so funny to play, i really enjoy to eat those cakes.

cdmaniac 2022-10-06 09:55

Okay I'm not a "boss" yet, but as a "veteran", I can say this game is furiously addictive, resulting from simple gameplay and good sound design. I'm just wondering if anything could be done to keep the player in the spwaners area, as it seems I was able to move out of it. Still a really fun game though! GG

corporation 2022-10-06 20:36

Simple concept, but an original and funny setting) controls and feedback feels good. Well done)

jacobrutter 2022-10-07 02:38

@cdmaniac Thanks for the feeback! It makes me happy to hear I created something someone would describe as "furiously addictive". The spawners are supposed to move with the player -- but if you noticed that not happening it means there is room for improvement in that area.

jacobrutter 2022-10-07 02:39

@corporation thanks for playing my simple game, I'm glad you found it enjoyable!

shibaya 2022-10-07 22:28

That's a funny game! Good job!

xcarl 2022-10-08 04:58

Very fun. The sound effects are very good, i really like them!

resacagames 2022-10-08 23:27

Only found one booster :( Game is rigged. Anyway got to veteran, MVP 10/10 Screenshot (265).png

jacobrutter 2022-10-09 04:14

@resacagames I've discovered a bug in the code generating the special items, as pointed out by you and others. It'll be fixed post jam. Thanks for playing the game--that's a pretty solid score!

jacobrutter 2022-10-09 04:15

@xcarl Thanks for saying so, I've been trying to put more effort into audio. Thanks for playing my game!

fribolin 2022-10-11 12:30

Very simple concept, yet quite addicting gameplay. The controls felt very good and the game felt quite balanced. I wished there were a few more special items. Not in variety, just in quantity :)

solah 2022-10-11 12:49

That's a great scoring game! I really like the graphics of this one. What would be fun would be to add obstacles or maluses to spice it up!

jacobrutter 2022-10-12 01:56

@fribolin thanks for playing my little game! I agree 100% and have fixed for post jam version :)

jacobrutter 2022-10-12 01:57

@Solah This is the first time I've been recommended obstacles, I may have to explore that thought a bit. I'm not sure what maluses is but I'll google it! I appreciate your insights.

vykri 2022-10-15 21:13

Hey, thanks for making the game! I played through it and recorded my thoughts.

@vykri watched the video, really awesome to see someone play the game and get feedback. Thanks for playing!
