I think the timer and distance texts should only display 1 or even no decimals because it's a bit distracting to see them flicker so fast the whole time when they update. But still a nice little plattformer :)
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD51 → Robbie Robot

Entertaining platform! And I love the art, it is particular and its own. Maybe I would put some power-up to make it a little more varied. Still, very good game!
Nice one, the game-play was simple and classic, what I really loved, was the graphics, it reminded me the drawings that we would draw in green blackboards at school. Really nice entry, well done!
Who doesn't love chalky robots? The art style is great. Nice platformer. Thanks for making this game.
Nice little platformer, love the chalk art, Robbie is a nice lil robot, it's fun to play.
Awesome Platformer! The Game's Art Style Is amazing as it reminds me of an old chalk board esthetic.
@krynxx indeed. I totally missed that feeling :joy: This is when you know "what" is there and don't look at it, then you don't notice that it gets annoying...
@milq Unfortunately we (me and the stream-chat  ) lost a half day due to a wrong decision and that time was missing in the end to add a few more complicated patterns and powerups/downs
@greenphox That was exactly what I wanted to achieve! The game plays on a green blackboard. Totally meant to remind players of school times.
thank you all for your appreciated feedback!
A cool hardcore platformer with really nice graphics.
That seemless transition from tutorial to gameplay was really smooth I love it! tried doing something similar with my game but ended up being too much of a hustle. love the simple yet engaging mechanics and the nice level design, the music was great as well though it felt repetetive at some point. but I did enjoy the gameplay! which is great
The music actually is repetitive as hell :D It's just tinkered together with the chrome experiments tool and has a length of about 5 seconds :D Thats Compo :joy:
Thanks for your review @0x-void-x0 !
Nice and cute game! I like the aesthetics and style you added! I also appreciate a lot the in-game tutorial, this was well done!
The only thing, is that I wished the beginning was shorter, because it's a bit too long for the easy part, and if you die later, you have to start over. The later part got more interesting and challenging. I liked that you offered two paths many times, an easier one, and a harder with the oil reward.
Congratulations on your first Compo entry!
Very cute robot! I like a lot the "hand-drawed" designs, love to use them too
@albertnez Do you mean the tutorial or the first part of the game which only has easy parts?
Technically the game gets harder with increasing score (the level generator has three difficulty stages)
i'm not sure where thye 10 seconds rule comes into play but it's a nice little platform game, the music is nice but a little repetitve :)
@enderswype You need to oil the robot every 10 seconds or it will start to malfunction (and that gets worse every 10 seconds until it finally breaks)
The game looks very cute and jumping is fun but it feels a bit off in some places. I'm not sure if this was done on purpose but the Robbie's fall feels too steep. Pretty much as soon as you run off a platform without jumping he will fall straight down. There were times when I thought I could just let him run without jumping but the sudden fall actually made that hard or impossible. Might have been the intention since he is a robot made of metal so it makes sense that he should be heavy but still it just didn't click with me. Whenerver I fell and got revived there were a couple of seconds where I couldn't control Robbie or at least moving him horizontally even though he had already appeared on screen. Maybe either let the player control him as soon as he appears or give some kind of sign when you can't control him and when you can. Maybe just a flashing animation would do.
For a Compo game this isn't bad, probably even better than what I could make so good job :)
@krasimir-balchev thank you for the detailed review!
I actually also noticed that control flaw. The player should be able to control Robbie as soon as it respawns actually. This is a bug. This was my first time I used the unity input system and it seems like I got issues catching up when players press the movement keys while robbie is not yet respawned.
The straight falling was not actively intended but I also did not take counter-measures, meaning this is a point I will hopefully do better next time :)
This was a fun platformer. I really like platformers that allow me to go fast, and this game definitely rewarded speed :) The seamless tutorial was very nice. I had no trouble getting playing. Good job.
@macaroni-dev yes, the objective is "go far, go fast". Score is set by distance and set in relation to the time it took you to get there. This is alos why the camera moves adaptive to your play-speed :)
Thanks for the review!
The music is maybe too much repetitive (this is what make me give up after 3 tries  ) Is there an end ? Anyway, the game is really enjoyable and make me trying to improve my distance !
@loiclegrosfrere no the game is endless. objective is to go as far as possible - as fast as possible
A simple but cute platformer. Personally, I was amused by the sound of the robot when he falls. You did a good job. Congratulations on your first Compo ✨
@n-n that was actually not modified too much... I tried to scream like a robot. Evidence: [https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1625827746](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1625827746)
Nice entry! The tutorial was well done and the game felt fluid. I really like endless games like this.
Saw you post on the front screen about needing votes, in case you don't know, you will get more votes if you rate and comment on other games. It causes your game to get more visibility in the list.
Ran through it a couple times. My best: Distance: 318.67 Time: 108.32 Score: 2902
Happy to see a tutorial in there. The implementation with the skip button and all that was pretty solid.
@simplepotential Yes I know that but time is an issue unfortunately. I was able to play a few but by far not enough. I was barely able to free the time for LD but I didn't want to ruin my streak by leaving it out :joy:
Thanks for the review!
@organicpencil Thank you! Having the tutorial embedded into the game fluently was an important detail I wanted to have in there and people seem to like that approach. Happy to see this :D
