@conductedgrey Thanks! To be honest, I'm surprised you liked my game, because in the end, I didn't, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!
great game, i didn't encounter any bug, i couldn't lead anyone to salvation either though. good luck
Throwing people is strangely fun. Congrats!
Fun little game but unfortunately its lacking in audio
The movement speed is a bit too fast i feel which makes the platforming harder than it should be. I also felt that some jumps were nearly imposible, espesialy when managing the darkness, the people and the jumping all at once. The art is good and fits perfectly with the game. I like how the player gets brighter the closer you are to the top. And the trowing mechanics for the people are fun!
@ildenh Thanks! I tried to fine-tune the movement, but you're completely right - it ended up being awkward instead of tight. I kind of rushed configuring my platformer controller...
Hey, that was pretty nice! The idea was pretty good, and it was fun to play, only issue could be that speed was a bit too high probably making it kind of hard to control, so you ended up slipping usually. Aside from that, graphics fit the game well, and while some audio would have given the game a lot more, it works just fine without it. Overall, the movement could use some tweaking, but anyway, great entry, congratulations!
@theinkskeleton Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, the movement was definitely one of the weaknesses of this game :-)
Neat idea and use of the theme. I liked how the people could partially get by on their own and how you had to manage them. The game had a few bugs as well. The people would randomly teleport or fly across the screens sometimes and at one point my casualties jumped from 0 to 7 and I couldn't pick anyone up anymore. Overall, good job! even if it didn't turn out how you wanted, be proud of your submission!
The game is very good! It is true that certain aspects of the game need to be polished but the idea and the concept is good! Lack of time perhaps in those days? I think it's a great concept that should be developed further! Great game!
The concept is really cool and fits the theme well. The art style is quite nice but I kept trying to walk on top of ladders since they look like part of the foreground and falling to my death because of that. The movement feels quite hard to control due to how fast everything is, and I found it off-putting that you die the instant you touch the darkness, especially when the camera moves down so quickly when I fall into it. Overall a good entry and with some polish and fleshing out this idea could work really well as a full game. Great entry ^-^
Hey, not bad, but I think it is missing something, I am not sure exactly what. Maybe a clear sense of progression? On my first playthrough I didn't notice I could grab the little people, so I went straight up fleeing from the darkness. Then, before my second playthrough, I RTFM and understood what my real goal was.
Alright, so let me try saving people. Right on the beginning each pair of people go one direction, so I couldn't easily follow everyone. I immediately felt I already had to chose the of them to die. And quickly, I felt overwhelmed by the speed the darkness was coming (even with my "light shots"), and decided I was not skilled enough save the two of them. So I grabbed one and went straight up, as in my first playthrough.
But you see, this all happened too quickly, I didn't felt like making choices, it was like the game has chosen for me. So, maybe a redesigned map and perhaps even something like "darkness ~~rubberbanding~~(*)" at the start would help to show the player how to play _gradually_, allowing him do ponder and feel on top of the game.
(*) Edit: Not really rubberbanding, I think. What I mean is: make the darkness slower as it gets closer. My hypothesis is that this will help with situation awareness without overwhelming the player.
I like the concept! Throwing people was fun, but I didn't manage to save anyone :') Maybe we could have a better way to control it? Also, I thought the darkness was moved too fast when not shooting it. Maybe if it goes slower at least on the beginning we'd have time to go around saving people. Good game tho! Keep it up ^^
Nice idea! I really liked the art, especially the main character. The last jump was a bit tricky, but I was able to save someone. It seemed pretty hard to save more than one, unless I missed something. Could use a few tweaks, but overall I liked it.
Visually interesting. Gameplay-wise.... I don't know if you could ever save more than one person. I managed to get 1 guy up to the portal by picking him up and just carrying him up there the whole way.
Only able to do so, btw, by what must be the "exploit" of just holding down the mouse button the whole time so a stream of light orbs constantly shot down to keep the dark at bay.
Unfortunately, when I put him down, he just stood there staring at the portal like a deer in the headlights. I tried throwing him in - he disappeared, but the "safe" counter stayed at 0. :-(
Anyway - I think it _could_ be fun, with some work!
Nice game! Its bit hard definetly could be added more to it, but still good entry!
Fun little game and nice art style too. I wish I could jump with W key instead of spacebar. Anyway, good job with the game.
A simple and well-executed game, overall. The act of throwing people around gaps is fun, though I wish there was a way to more effectively aim as I often overshot my throws, causing people to be yeeted into the darkness. The graphics are well-done overall, but nothing crazy. I do wish there was audio to this piece, as I feel like it is the thing hurting this entry the most at the moment.
