@violet-minehan Thanks for the feedback! I've uploaded a new version with less ear-rape :D

nice fun little game, controls are a bit frustrating and unpredictable.

robin-dumoutier 2021-10-05 09:24

Some "getting over it" vibes ahah, nice one, a bit frustrating but still cool :)

sethios 2021-10-05 09:35

That was a fun game! :) A bit on the frustrating side sometimes as it was sometimes unpredictable (You could land a rocket jump right but still fall off the platform because the character fell down after the landing)

Other than that, it was fun and reminded me of my numerous hours on TF2 lol

alan001 2021-10-05 11:35

very cool

denilseven 2021-10-05 11:41

this game has the same vibe as Getting over It, really cool! I liked the background music too

dunk 2021-10-05 12:09

Nice idea with the rocket jumping, and the 'getting over it' gameplay of frustrating/trolling the player is a nice gag. I'd like to see the end but I feel like it's hard to justify persisting with this when I'm supposed to be rating more games :) Would be easier if it went fullscreen - I found it difficult to launch myself when the character was at the bottom or edges of the window. Music was chosen well, though wasn't made in the jam so it makes sense there's no rating for it.

nice idea! I love how got up like 3 floors and than somehow managed to get back to the beginning just to start again

joaosilva22 2021-10-06 16:33

Fun game! Have to agree with some other comments that this would have been much easier if it were fullscreen -- as it is the frustration induced by the game was compounded by the frustration of clicking outside the window. Nice job overall!

nehvis 2021-10-07 08:42

@dunk @joaosilva22 thanks for your feedback, you can toggle fullscreen using alt + enter :D maybe should have let it start in fullscreen

dunk 2021-10-07 12:41

@nehvis I played it again and yeah, alt+enter does indeed work - I swear I tried that but I guess I didn't try hard enough >_<

Game is haaaard. There was some definite room for finessing shots to make small adjustments but I am not good enough.

Fullscreen worked (at least for me) and was absolutely mandatory. The music volume is also good! I enjoyed it! I got stuck for a while on the small platform below a large vertical but made it eventually. Good job.

Not much to say, a classic "i'll make you smash your laptop/PC" game.

bbaf 2021-10-10 11:54

Very cruel game :grinning: , but message in the pit changes which is fun. I managed to reach 3rd level a few times and stopped.

Got some vibes from TF2 and Quake3, though

Fun little game, I tried climbing up the straight chute on the right side of the map, which I found more fun than the actual level haha.

2 things that would greatly improve the game: - The camera has smoothing enabled, which is nice, but the fact that there's no limit on it means you can easily not see yourself anymore when launching, making it impossible to keep up any momentum. Enabling a limit on the camera would help here, so you can never go off screen. - The physics sometimes stop you instantly, instead of bouncing you off. If you're using godot I'm guessing it's because you are using a tilemap for physics? As opposed to large collision rects. If that's the case, I think the player is hitting either right in an edge, or clipping through the block they are actually hitting, and hitting the underside of the block above. Just guesses though!

This was still a lot of fun to play, well done!

frederikja163 2021-10-16 09:32

A bit hard, but i think that was on purpose. It reminds me a lot of that game were you sit in a cauldron and try to climb a mountain. Graphics are meh, aswell as the innovation and the theme was not really present at all.

Savage and fun with a jammin soundtrack! I played a bunch.

Then I finally got up to the the pachinko part, and past it. And I had explored right from the start, so I knew the risk and I got ready to be careful, and I blasted myself up there, and then suddenly I was not looking at the game anymore because it is not fullscreen and I had clicked outside the bounardies on the browser tab behind it, and when I went back into the game I was already at "Pity". I did not have the heart after that.... although I did try alt-enter and wince hard when it did go fullscreen. :~(

I also agree with @raphiell as I had some difficulty with re-shooting due to the camera smoothing making the margin for mouse expression extremely small, and I also had problems with some shots being duds. Notably a dud when I finally got to that one horizontal bit in the pre-pachinko vertical climb... which knocked me all the way back down to the very start.

So really fun! But I got savaged.

Not that that's a bad thing or anything.

Super compelling entry.
