This is a cute little town management game with a lot of satire. Running an unstable world (or even a town) is far more difficult than anyone can imagine and this game captures the idea well.

This was difficult! I lost my first re-election and didn't know exactly how to build a good reputation for myself. However, the game was really cool looking and I liked your sound effects

I liked the art style and the little dilemmas that appeared at intervals during the game. A solid entry considering you made this on your own in such a short space of time, good job :)

I got elected! Everything was unstable indeed, since there was a lot to pay attention to. Maybe you can visualize creating new buildings in the background, that could be an interesting addition! Great job!

The actual gameplay was fun, but I felt a bit overwhelmed by the many adjusting screw I could influence. Also, it was quite stressful staying informed on the current stats while adjusting things on a different tab, while the timer was ticking merciless.

A music track would have been nice :)

I loved the graphics, everything was fitting in the same style! Especially the buildings looked really stunning.

Good job!

Thanks all for your feedback :)

@wouterk12 it's no very noticeable but when you build a building it appears in the village (e.g. hospital in the left corner a big with cube) ;)

I managed to reach equilibrium with 100 happiness  I think this is a solid foundation for a city management game. The UI was fairly intuitive and it was interesting to find the right balance. Gameplay is limited, but it's hard to expect more given the Ludum Dare time limit and your ambitious genre choice!

nakami 2021-10-09 21:33

@simonl having 3 tabs it's design to add to the unsuitability ;) and any way it didn't fit on one screen as I wanted the city view. I really wanted to add a little clam music but I had to chose, between the many things I cute.

Nice little game with some humor in the texts! The pop-up choices (helping with school, making it rain and so on) were a nice addition but not knowing the results at all was confusing. Perhaps the flood chance and education level affected those! I liked how you need to switch between the views to see how your changes effected popularity etc. Didn't really understand what the effects were tho - I tried lowering the taxes just in time for election which seemed to work well until the people stormed my office and kicked me out. Good fun!

It's impressive what you put together in such a short time. I found it a bit difficult to keep a track of all the stuff I did. I think especially it's not immediately clear how adjusting a bar will affect the game state.

I think a few less dials with maybe a clear preview or indication of what will change could help.

None the less, congrats on submitting!

fantastic interpretation of the theme. I loved it. The interface is simple and easy to use, although there are many options and it is a strategy game. I can't win, but it's quite addictive, I'll keep trying hahaha

Surprisingly complex game! It also moves at a good clip, so playing again is not a big deal. I liked this, good job.

doomshmuck 2021-10-11 15:21

It seemed complicated at first, but I caught on pretty fast. It moved pretty slowly though, and I felt like I was sitting there not really being able to do much while I waited for the money to tick up. I think this could have used more interactions to keep things rolling.

This is a nice little city politics economics society environment ... simulation. I saw the impact of my activities (mostly). There were funny texts. Enjoyed it for (i think 4 or 5 re-elections). Then suddenly my popularity dropped just before re-election. I think I skip politics for now. A lot of content for a game jam! Good.

Really nice little game. It was really hard, especially to keep track of my popularity while i was on another tab, would be cool to always have it on screen. I played a "fair game" really trying to please my people and then I "cheated" a lot by lowing taxes just before the elections. I enjoyed playing it, would be great with some music ! I especially love see the little buildings appear on the screen. Good one !

guilloteam 2021-10-18 21:11

Impressive compo entry, you nailed it! Good job, nice game :)

Neat game! I managed to win on my second try. On my first try, things moved *way* too quickly to figure anything out - could only read a couple tooltips before the year had ended and I'd lost my election, and had not yet figured out how approval even worked ^_^ - maybe it should pause while a tooltip is up, or something like that. Enjoyed it after figuring things out though.
