This was a pretty funny game. I didn't expect it to be anymore than a runner at first so I was surprised at the fishing mini-game and what came after. Pretty cool.
Fancy hat upgrade best upgrade.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD49 → Breakaway

Fancy hat upgrade best upgrade.
After playing for a long time i'm getting that visual thing where everything looks like it's moving up even after closing the game. Pretty good, but coins / objects being after to spawn on top of each other is a bit awkward.
The graphics came together well. The use of things scrolling in the background made for a good sense of movement.
The player isn't able to deny an upgrade, which seems like an oversight. Also, I wasn't able to catch a fish with the fishing, so I couldn't even get my fishing fix in.
I wish the game had more to do with the theme, but the graphics were executed well.
Man, this game is very fun!!! Didn't see that ending coming [ending.png](///raw/bc0/04/z/445b6.png)
I enjoyed the game, you did an especially nice job with the art and sound. Good music. It had a simple dinosaur game kinda feel to it, keeps you going, nice and fun.
The controls felt a bit loose, sliding a bit extra when you unpress the buttons, and the pacing felt a little slow, it didn't seem to get much harder with time. That's all I can see wrong with it, it has a consistent style to it making the art and music even better.
Overall great job on your game and good luck.
Nice auto scroller. My best score was 292. It really brought back memories of GunSmoke for the NES, probably due to the upgrade station. The speed boost "upgrade" seemed to make the game a lot harder. I like the hat and fishing pole upgrades, but I wasn't sure if they did anything aside from decoration. I thought maybe the fishing pole would help collect coins.
Music is nice, but a bit too repetitive. Web version is a huge advantage.
the man looks like hes running on waves! the whole system is very robustly built and in my time of playing couldnt find a single BUG. however there are some things that you could change such as the option of denying an upgrade. THe movement also felt a big cumbersome becuase it starts slow, has a long buildup and then it has not a lot of friction. All in all though amazing game
The movement is a little slow for this kind of game. But fun overall.
Nice fluid controls. I really loved how the game looks. It is using a very simplistic graphics, but every pixel counts and it feels very fluid! The game itself is pretty fun as well. However, I think that controls could be a little bit faster, but that’s really nitpicking.
Good execution of a simple concept!
Maybe I'd make the controls a little more snappy.. Oh and the coins don't fit the narrative :P Great work!
I got to 545m. Fun little game. Only got further after starting to ignore some coins that where hard/impossible to get.
I like the minimalist art style and the music has a catchy riff to it. I like the upgrades you can get along the way, and overall a nice game.
Does the hat do anything? Are there any microtransactions planned yet? :P
Like others pointed out - the controls feel a bit too sluggish, but other than that, this is a great retro-made title!
Well I played the runner mini game for a bit, collected the fish pole and the hat but couldn't trigger the fishing minigame for some reason. So I thought it was just a cosmetic and left it there, then I read the first comment and was curious what was he talking about..and damn haha this was really interesting, felt like a frog fractions kind of twist, I really enjoyed it. Very good entry!
