This game is certainly chaotic. The controls are a little strange, especially with how the camera no longer follows the ball after release, making it pretty hard to follow. The mini-map is almost unhelpful, if not for the fact that it would tell me if a key existed somewhere in the room. 3D mini-maps are definitely hard to create, but having it at least spin around based on your direction would be far more helpful, as you could figure out a direction to go on. Making the keys 3D objects as well, rather than flat images would help them stand out too.

vyacheslavign 2021-10-06 11:47

I didn't like the controls

moonblast 2021-10-06 12:17

The controls are weird and the scene is relly chaotic. Most of time I don't understand what I need to do

ttu-hasan 2021-10-06 12:32

thanks @hollyhay for your suggestions i would consider improving the minimap and the making the keys more standout so that it is easy to spot them and would try to make the game better.

micheleleva 2021-10-06 12:38

Really interesting concept, I would have preferred an additional way to move the perspective, as it is now it's really difficult to figure out where you are without unintentionally shooting the ball in the wrong direction. Anyway I still liked it, I think both the UI and the gameplay capture properly the theme of this jam. Good job!

emkani 2021-10-06 12:52

pretty rough game, a few simple changes would've gone a long way. The concept is fine in itself. I feel like the first 1 or 2 levels should have been way simpler, to introduce each "obstacle". Controls I think are OK but the camera makes it very hard to follow and the minimap was basically useless IMO. Good effort though. GUI could also have used just 10 mins of polish, in terms of layout and scales would make it look a lot prettier.

lakrits 2021-10-06 15:08

I've no idea what's going on, so you nailed the theme.

Concerning the "windows defender" note at the top of this page, I run all games from Ludum in Sandboxie (a sandbox environment for Windows) and I didn't see any harmful files created. SHA256 of "ChaoticRoom.exe": EDAEF0E2AAF70C921F0F56042B5CD0BE09EB447A3A208D65A0425745B65F4649

the game is super confusing but I guess that fits the theme :D

quoc 2021-10-08 12:48

Controls are hard. Strange game but kinda interestring

intodarkness 2021-10-08 13:40

The Controls are hard to understand :b: . I played WebGL version . I like the graphics and sound . This is very Unstable room so an :a: for the theme . Nice Work

fiakaiera 2021-10-08 14:27

The chaotic theme is definitely there! Though this does show it's your first foray into Ludum Dare? Hope you're not too stressed in all of that!

I'll gather some previous points, then add my own two cents just to show how far you could have taken this! - The controls, combined with the camera are really awkward! - If I assume that this is a 3rd person game, some sort of a line renderer pointing out could help show where you're going instead of a tilted arrow! It's currently really awkward to know where you're going. - Some would definitely want to control the camera instead of holding aim to control the camera. - That said there are a lot of moments where I just repeatedly click my mouse to inch to a key. - You could have definitely... DEFINITELY... not have spent your time making on the levels. - The first two levels could have introduced you to mechanics! Maybe it's time to learn a bit of stage design to help you with that? - I'm pretty sure the chaotic nature of the first stage is enough: It's tricky already to go through and find the keys and for those who test out multiple games, the first stage says what the rest of the game is like. - At one point I got sent out outside the game's bounds. I find that funny and I know it's a rare bug, I just would like you to know. - The 3d map is useless. - Just make the key obvious and shine. It's enough to find the key. No need to make a 3d map. - Since the stage moves and all... teleports even!... you should've added a sound of it moving each time. Never really noticed it at first and I thought I was pushed by the marbles then sent out. - Speaking of sound... I don't know what the marble tap sound is reacting to. - The UI is definitely not polished, and 10 minutes of that could make it look at least decent. Why is probably why I asked if you're new to this.

After all of that, you definitely nailed the theme, and this could have been a decent game. At least you tried and succeeded into making a game on the jam itself and you should really proud of that! Go make more prototypes and you can go really far into making games!

ttu-hasan 2021-10-08 14:57

@fiakaiera big thanks for your feedback and suggestions I would definitely consider your suggestions while dropping the next update and also work on fixing the bug you've encountered, improving the overall levels, gameplay and overallexperience.

thepiratenun 2021-10-08 19:15

I can certainly get the feeling of instability in this game! I wasn't too sure what was going on, it was a bit unclear to me what the keys looked like, how to navigate the space, what caused my health to go down, etc. I think the game would really benefit from giving the player more feedback. I didn't know whether my actions were getting me closer or further away from the goal, so I wasn't able to learn the gameplay very well. Great job getting it done though and I can't wait to see what else you make!

nyles 2021-10-09 04:39

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury: if this game does not receive an award for most unstable game, then I suggest you protest the Ludum Dare game jams.

jackiex9527 2021-10-09 04:41

The instability of the game really fit the theme to be honest. There are many UI in the screen but I can't understand what they represent. Is the current build has bug ?

robowarrior1982 2021-10-09 05:55

Very chaotic ! Perfect fit of the theme !

joonamo 2021-10-10 12:47

I think there's something here, but too much chaos made it difficult to play. Maybe if all the enemy balls had stopped when I'm aiming, the game could be more playable? Thanks for the web build!

piper-thompson 2021-10-10 20:52

wow - mad! What is this - a disturbing encounter! in a good way - i think ----- leaves me well puzzled

makimopl 2021-10-11 09:25

I dont understand gameplay, but it really fit of the theme! ;)

grimaceoverload 2021-10-12 18:57

It feels very hard, and most of the time I'm not 100% sure what's going on but it certainly is 'unstable'!

roka-josh 2021-10-16 13:59

An interesting take on the theme, although sadly the game crashed when loading level 2 and I couldnt get it to work.

ttu-hasan 2021-10-16 14:08

@roka-josh thank you for the feedback! let me check out the problem .for now try restarting the game.can you tell me which version did you play pc build or web build

roka-josh 2021-10-16 15:37

@ttu-hasan It was the web version, and I was playing full screen.

conduit 2021-10-18 14:55

Yo so first, I had a lot of frame rate issues while in fullscreen mode in browser, may have been my computer but idk. With that out of the way, I loved the idea and minimal style of this entry as well as mechanics. I had fun frantically aiming the ball and bouncing it around everywhere lol great job! <3

rewzu 2021-10-19 12:41

Quite chaotic but interesting. The controls might be a bit hard to understand. Maybe a better camera and line that shows the direction would help. Overall neat entry!
