Nice gameplay ! insane graph, good shaders, no bug a little bit hard but it's fine ! good job :D

Graphics were great, nicely atmospheric. Character was amusing. I'm at a total loss as to what any of that had to do with the intro, but I legitimately could believe this was a crazy game invented in Japan in the SNES era. Sadly the jumping mechanic was an excersize in pure frustration for me and I found no way to leave the game except force quitting.

Excellent graphics, good gameplay, no bugs at all, congratulations on the game

Interesting idea, you used a really unique mechanic for jumping! I'm all for new ways to control characters, and with some work this could be a fun way to move about. Maybe something like a meter to show how far you're about to jump, or some sort of indication of that? It was still a fun platformer, though, and I liked the increasing tension as the lava began to rise. The graphics were awesome as well, very clean animations, and the lighting effects really added to the atmosphere of the game. I had fun, well done on this game!

Awesome game! Graphics is amazing, atmosphere and mood too. Controls are kinda new. It took few attemps for me to find the way of jumping.

Nice gamplay, love the graphics good job !

Very nice looking graphics, and I could not find a single fault in the audio. It took me a little to figure out what the bar on the left was doing and how the jump worked, but other than that the gameplay was quite interesting! I liked that you had to stop to calm down the baby if you took any damage.

Wow this was way better than I expected. You need to at least add a cover image to your post to show off the art.

The whole experience felt very polished and unique. The weird setting, the tank controls on a 2d platformer, the baby calming mechanic. All top notch.

My only gripe is that there are some situations where the controls make it too difficult to proceed. Specifically when you're positioned right up against a wall, its hard to jump onto the platform since you can't move in the air. You either jump straight up, or into the wall with enough force to bounce you off the platform. I don't know if the game was designed for gamepads, but with a keyboard it feels flawed. You can charge up your jump to be more precise, but you can only choose between jumping left or right. The arc is always the same even if you hold a direction + up.

I think the game would benefit from 2 dimensional inputs, or atleast some visual indication of where your jump is going to take you.

But that issue aside, I think this is a phenomenal Jam entry. You guys killed it

You nailed it!! These graphics are absurd incredible for short a game jam. Just insane!

Excellent game :)

Wow, speaking of visuals, that's a beautiful game ! I feel how far it could go based on the intro and the gameplay. Unfortunately I am one of those that find the jump mechanic a bit frustrating. Actually it feels like you took away something that makes a game playable. Which is fine regarding the theme. But maybe the mechanic could be developed a bit further ? Anyway, cool idea and great identity overall !

Great graphics and audio! I also love the premise with the stars!

guerif 2021-10-06 09:28

Really cool game loved it !

Just experienced one bug, sometimes the controls goes down and I can't move or jump anymore. The shoot mechanics still works tho.

But loved the gameplay and the overall mood !

Good game, I enjoyed every second even if I didn't manage to finish. :D

gasgiant 2021-10-07 18:58

The game looks very good, but wow, that's some seriously wacky jump mechanic. While it might be interesting, in its current form it is problematic. First of all, you get no indication or feel of how far and high you are going to jump. Together with zero air control it makes jumping a guesswork. The most annoying thing however was bouncing from the walls. Misjudge your jump over a tiny step a little bit - enjoy flying all the way down, because you violently bounced off.

This one is fantastic, one of the best games I've played so far

david-broz 2021-10-07 19:17

It looks and sound great, I love the style and the polish is impressive. This might be the most impressive style I have seen this Ludum Dare, good job! However I find the controls too clunky for my taste.

felixwentzel 2021-10-07 20:32

shovelnight reinvented, kinda. Stunning graphics and a nice touch with the baby calming

nicf 2021-10-08 16:28

I like being a determined pot in this game.

maxds98 2021-10-08 19:44

Nice art

The vibe I get from this game is definitely a Getting Over It vibe--the platforming mechanics are intentionally unintuitive, and the game is intended to involve falling and losing progress quite a bit.

If this is a Getting Over It sort of game, then the most important difference from Getting Over It is the lava. The lava is effectively a timer, and if I don't complete the platforming objectives in time, I will lose.

I actually think that this is a pretty neat twist on the Getting Over It "genre." It adds a sort of additional dread to the gameplay, because I don't know exactly how long the level is, and when I run out of time it could mean I'm too slow by a little bit, or it could mean I'm too slow by orders of magnitude. That feeling is pretty neat.

I didn't make it past the section with the three rows of tiny blocks, as I couldn't figure out how to do the last jump, and replaying that section kind of makes my hands hurt. I think that section could be trimmed a bit for that reason--I don't think the game would lose much by making it a couple fewer jumps there, and it would hopefully be less physically difficult to get through it.

Overall, I think this is a neat take on the "unintuitive platformer" given the timer mechanic.
