Good idea, very minimalistic I like it very much. Kind of a clicker with inertia. Intersting!

iovorobiev 2021-04-26 08:53

Very addictive and simple! Played like ten times or so, and want to see it on my mobile it is a great idea for a hypercasual mobile game.

Really like it. It took me some time to understand that the silhouette in the middle is a silhouette of a human, but when I recognized it liked it a lot!

Great job overall!

Quite fascinating to see this diver dive. I liked the atmosphere. Some sound would have been really nice, though.

hpa97 2021-04-26 21:44

Very intense game! I wonder what the most optimal strategy is? Seems like just a few kicks does the trick for getting into the 30's. Good job!

pierre-f 2021-04-26 21:55

Nice ! The concept is so simple yet so fun ! A shame the graphics are not a bit better tho.

kromeboy 2021-04-27 01:25

Nice concept. Hard to master. Somewhat the oxygen bar doesn't seem linear and I have run out of oxygen multiple times while trying to surface

tim77 2021-04-27 08:02

Really fun concept. This is because you are asking the player to learn how to balance three competing/interlocking things: 1. Oxygen level: If it gets too low, you fail. And oxygen goes down commensurate with effort exerted by the swimmer. 2. It is less effortful to swim down than it is to swim up, hence the relationship between effort and oxygen changes depending on direction. 3. Dive as deep as possible and return.

Overall the above makes for an experience, which, after failure, really invites the player to keep trying!

That's very clever! Well done! Love this concept and loved working out why it was good!

Also - I was impressed by the depths reached by some people on the score board!

An interesting little game idea. I overall had fun playing it. The graphics could have been better, and the game could have used some music and perhaps some sound effects. But overall a good compo game. Well done.

I have thought about this feedback. I don't want to be too harsh but still I feel you might want to think about having a gradual increase of difficulty. I am not bothered by the graphics allthough they could have some love, but the difficulty is way too hard the first thing around. I would have prefered a gradual difficulty. Some people seem to enjoy this but I do not. sorry.

Rotoscoping is always cool to see. Also, you went with a very simple game which means you were able to nail the mechanics of it. Nice job!

nyanpierre 2021-04-28 02:29

nice game

sode 2021-04-29 13:25

I really liked this game. As previously stated could be nice to have sound and please make the game pause before someone presses a button

@badpaul34 thanks very much man :)

@iovorobiev thanks, yes I'm definitely gonna add touch input so one can play this on mobile

@loig thanks, I did want to make some 8bit beeps and boops with SFXR, i think it would've suited the pixelatted diver dude. Unfortunately I ran out of time :(

@hpa97 thank you - yes I'm not sure myself, I suppose I could work out the maths based on the formulas I use, but that would spoil the fun ;)

@pierre-f thanks, the rotoscoping is quite time consuming so I had to settle for the bare minimum...

@kromeboy thanks - ya I was quite lucky that my thumb-suck formulas ended up in interesting behaviour

@tim77 thank you very much, appreciate it

@jk5000 thank you!

@mdotedot thank you for your feedback! I understand - I can see how not everyone would enjoy it :)

@dirkinz thanks, I think I will use PaintOfPersia in some more games going forward, it is fun to use

@nyanpierre thanks

@sode thanks - how did I not think of that??

nsadie 2021-04-30 20:09

You used rotoscoping? Very cool! Check out https://ebsynth.com as another interesting project!

I enjoyed the push-your-luck design!

levidsmith 2021-05-02 00:35

Took me a few tries to figure out what I was doing. Neat concept for a game.

ahmed-hamdi 2021-05-02 01:40

Great game. Keep it up. The graphics could use some adjustments, but it didn't bother to me at all. Great way to disguise the graphics with great gameplay! edit: I just checked the post compo version of the game and it had some good improvements.
