A bit too difficult, but the game mechanic is interesting.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD47 → Loop Dream

A bit too difficult, but the game mechanic is interesting.
Thanks for making this. I couldn't make any progress at all unfortunately because it was just too hard for me to keep track and plot out my next actions fast enough. There are some similarities to the Sega Genesis game Junction (in addition of course to the pipe games mentioned above). I think your execution of the game was fantastic tool.
This was fun! Interesting mechanic and good tunes to go with. I do agree with others that it might be bit too challenging. I managed to win a game once I realized how I can get time to plan. I'm not sure if planning is enough though, the pieces seem pretty random.
Really nice game, a bit challenging. Everything works smoothly, I have not seen any bugs :)
Challenging in that its hard to keep up with the ball and make a path before it runs out of path, since the tiles you get appear to be random and it is often the case that the next tile is not the one you need. Seems to work pretty well regardless. Good work!
I like the concept a lot, it's a very fun idea. Also I think it's too hard, are the pieces random?
Really simple yet deep puzzle game I spent quite a while playing. I would recommend testing a system where the player only moves manually (i.e. when there is a path the dot can go on) and have the score reward speed to make the game more accessible to new players. Still a very good entry I enjoyed nonetheless. Also I like the music.
Didn't fully understand the scoring system - is the goal to get to the goal as fast as possible, to keep the ball rolling as long as possible, to use as few tiles as possible? I wasn't sure, which stopped me from trying to go for a better highscore.
I did enjoy the game though. I liked how the music picked up as the game went along!
Nice concept, I guess just need more practice to get used to it.
The idea is really fun, but it's really difficult to finish. I really like the music. Overall is this a pretty good jam game.
@battlerager You need to get as low a score as possible, and there should be an indicator in the top left showing what your current score is. The number of points go up every time you place a tile. Glad you enjoyed!
This game is definitely difficult as other people have mentioned. At first I was trying to just keep the ball in its nice loop while I built a simple path, but that strategy did not end up being very feasible. Next I tried to sort of place pieces in front of the ball and just pray that I got a compatible piece before it died. I actually got relatively good luck and I almost won--I was one tile away but then I died, and then on my later attempts I couldn't get nearly as far.
So yeah, it's probably too tough. I think maybe having an option to just play on a slow speed would really help make it more winnable.
Probably also the game should be balanced in some way such that you will never get a particular slew of bad pieces. I don't know if you're familiar, but Tetris games will, for example, guarantee that you won't get too many S-pieces in a row.
Anyways, this is a pretty cool take on the theme, and is executed very nicely. It's just too hard!
@honey-pony Thank you for the great feedback! I had considered doing something like a 7-bag system from Tetris, unfortunately with the amount of time I had left, it fell to the wayside for other QOL improvements.
A fun challenge!
Once you figure out a good strategy it's really not too difficult - I got scores of 103, 97 then 60. I start by building up a very rough path by clicking quickly tiles in a line towards the end (not paying too much attention to whether they connect up), then go over in a second pass to 'fix' the path. With this strategy it's quite manageable.
@amarillion Thank you for the nice comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I might've made it too difficult, but am glad that people have found strategies that do well.
Love the idea and for the most part this is really excellently made, but I gotta agree its too hard and too random. A 7-bag tetris-style system would I think definitely help as you mention. Would love to see this expanded upon!
Cute game! I enjoyed the music! After my first success, it was not clear what my highscore meant, was I supposed to make a long or a short path? Finding a path as long as possible is also quite challenging! (Then you should count the number of tiles the ball passes, not the number of tiles you clicked). I managed to get a score of 32 on my third successful run. :) I think it would be nice if the first available tile would be highlighted in some way. I can imagine some levels with obstacles to avoid or fixed pipes for a postjam version. :) Well done!
