Out there premise with a detective puzzle? Sweet. Got some Obra Dinn vibes at a couple points. Well done.

Out there premise with a detective puzzle? Sweet. Got some Obra Dinn vibes at a couple points. Well done.
Nice 2D art ,the game is really cool.
Love the cutscene art and the general vibe. This is the first LD game i actually beat, so huge kudos for making something so playable :)
I liked the art for the character expressions and the introduction, although the running animation was odd when moving up or down. The character dialogue was good as well and helped set the tone.
Interesting philosophy/metaphysics. The graphics, or maybe the interactions between them, are a bit rough, though you can still see a lot of effort in them since the art is pretty good in its inherent quality, and the character portraits in particular are surprisingly good, and each NPC (more or less) has one, which is pretty amazing. The puzzle mechanics make it fairly entertaining, though story-wise they aren't really all that coherent. Not sure if this is a bug but you can only inspect/throw the last item in the inventory within the circle, that is kinda confusing. The text shouldn't get bigger depending on the amount of lines, and the lack of contrast with its white font makes it hard to read at times. A hard brown color would make it look nice I believe. Music doesn't loop, and there should be some more SFX, like step sounds at least. Surprising scale for a jam game, lots of interactions and stuff all around. I only managed to get 3 evidence items.
Liked this a lot, we toyed with the idea of making our game about keeping a thought or memory alive but we couldn't come up with how to do that. I think you guys did that really really well here. Loved the sky box at the edge of the map, idk why just liked how it looked. Was a very captivating 5 minutes honestly, good work :)
Great game. Finished it through and found it enjoyable. The 5 minute timer was stressing me out towards the end, but I managed to get the last peice of evidence in time haha. Thanks for the game.
Man i had a hard time deciding whether to help or hurt John, such a good game!
Very cool concept, I think one could make a whole game out of this!
I really appreciated the use of the theme "keep it alive" with the idea of the judgement. Nothing is white or black and this game is pretty nice. I really enjoyed playing the game. The only thing I would have to say is the controls, with the key or the object, I was not sure if the key couldn't open the door, or it was the wrong input I was using. maybe adding icons on key you can press on near a triggerable object would be nice !
Otherwise great job guys :)
Just played! very nice!
Nice job! This is the first game I have played in this camera perspective in this game jam. I enjoyed having a world to explore and it's cool how you guys made it work in a puzzle setting.
Different art style is confusing, text is ureadable, world is empty. You should work on it and it would be more interesting!
Interesting take on the theme and a really complete experince overall! Could see this going in some cool directions with more time. Like having the reporters butterfly effect on the past adding up to their fate at the end. Getting the guy all his chickens leads to him becoming a fast food magnate or something. ha
Really interesting narrative, nice graphics. Nice job :3
Oh boy I cut it close, I literally picked up the final piece of evidence with zero seconds remaining, as the game was fading to the next scene.
The game was pretty cool, most of the art was good, but there was some weird parts, like how floor boards flickered as the camera moved. I really like the story aspect of it, but I feel like you missed out on the real juicy part of the whole setup. At the end, the player gets to decide the sheriff's fate, but ultimately we know nothing about him. We don't know the accuracy of these pieces, what his intentions and values are, he could be a nice guy, or perhaps super cynical... I feel like the story should've gone deeper into who John Johnson was, rather than just list some alleged past actions. I wanna know the guy I'm judging, then be provided the tough choice of whether to smear him or memorialise him.
I still really liked the game, it was neat running around doing errands for people and finding the different clues. I'm super proud that I managed to get the hints just in time, and that's largely due to a well designed time limit. I *really* appreciate that time stopped when you were talking or reading, it made the game so much more approachable and encouraged me to look around. I also really like the opening title card, and the little comic sequence, but the actual game art felt completely different from both of these, and it was a bit jarring. Overall the game was really good, I'm impressed that you guys managed to make all of that in three days, good job team!
Liked the artstyle a lot! I think this blend of RPG and Detective Game has great potential. Keep at it!
Your infinity symbol is not pixelated like the other characters :-)
Great game, really good job for 72 hours. The running and idle animations are very good. Details like having a running animation are often overlooked in LD, often because of time contraints, but they really make a difference to the world you are creating.
There are some tiling issues. I have seen that a lot in Unity games. People seem to not know how to place 2D tiles in a 3D world next to each other so that they do not create random seems when you move through the world. No deal breaker though.
The opening comic is really cool, I like the layout and how it concisely introduces you to everything you need to know. Not more and not less.
The music fits the game very well. I like that it is more in contrast to the fact that there is a time limit. You could have made a very hectic music to underline that fact but this way I can concentrate on exploring this little world, once I got to two opposing ends of it I knew that 5 minutes will be plenty to solve the puzzles. Although in my first run I did not find the key to the sheriff's house. I misplaced it at some point, picking up something else.
I think the mechanics are easy enoug that you can learn them on your own. You had a tutorial text and the hint to press Q appears when your inventory is full. This is fine. It took me a little while to find out that you could read the letters and they would make room in the inventory. This made my second attempt very easy. I Made the sheriff stay alive for 10 years as a crook, which seems a bit strange considering that I had two pieces of evidence agains him and one for him. I would have rather called him an ordinary guy with ups and downs :-)
The second time I made him look all bad, the third time all good. This means people are now quite confused about his fate...
Great job, really good entry, keep up the good work!
I really liked how the game displayed a more and more sinister side of John as evidence got more complicated to reach. A nice and well scoped submission. While poor in pure mechanical fun, it completely makes up for it with a very neat concept and good use of the theme!
The visuals were pretty nice and rich although their dithering really suffered from the camera not being pixel perfect (see below). I really loved the character portraits!
Really well done, congrats!

It is a very original concept, and an excellent variation on the theme. I like that we can choose what to present. Very good job !
