Really great take on the them, love the idea of spending your actual lives on things! The jump was hard to control going from stopped to full speed quickly but a good start!

digitallimestone 2019-04-29 14:48

@chawls-v Thank you!

tasakasama 2019-04-29 15:57

the movements are quite special, see too fast ... and I was stuck by moment ... By cons I like the music

anderssonkev 2019-04-29 17:57

I couldn't understand how to spend lives in the shop. If you would work more on this then I would iterate on the run animation and make some adjustments to the movement speed to make it more tight. Congrats to finishing something for this jam!

digitallimestone 2019-04-29 18:24

@anderssonkev Hi, Click the rotating image to spend deaths in the shop. It won't work unless you have enough deaths(top left). Thanks for playing!

alourenco 2019-04-29 19:00

Idea is cool. Gameplay is not that cool. Movement is painful and level design is too random.

sefrz 2019-04-29 19:26

I absolutely loved the take on the theme and the music was extremely nice to listen to. After I stopped playing, I left the game open just to listen to the music for a bit. However, movement was really difficult to get used to and I got lost a lot. I think maybe a slower movement speed and a slightly higher jump would do wonders for the issues I was having.

pincushion 2019-04-29 19:30

The art and music are great. I like your take on the theme too. I found finding and jumping to the last murder tools was frustrating though, since it was difficult to figure out how to climb back up to some places.

I really like the story and how it was presented.

digitallimestone 2019-04-29 19:33

@alourenco Thanks! If I ever make a post jam I will try and fix that!

@sefrz Thank you. That's some really helpful feedback. We will definitely do that next time!

@pincushion Thanks for the feedback! We did mean it to be a little frustating but maybe we went overboard!

digitallimestone 2019-04-29 20:43

@sefrz @pincushion @alourenco @anderssonkev @chawls-v

Hello! I was able to change the movement speed. And jump speed before the deadline! Thanks for your feedback!

nettaigyo 2019-04-30 04:52

The theme is very interesting. I like the story.

pseudobytes 2019-04-30 08:45

I really like the idea of this, it was actually quite satisfying. Also great touch respawning the player close to where he die, instead of at the same place every time. I think that was a really important decision. Though I do think the camera could have been a little snappyer, it felt a bit sluggish at times, for instance when falling down.

digitallimestone 2019-04-30 14:48

@pseudobytes @nettaigyo

Thanks for the kind words!

edevjogos 2019-05-01 16:58

I think a jumping sound and some gore when you die would improve greatly the experience.

digitallimestone 2019-05-01 19:10

@edevjogos Thanks! I'll take that on board.

sarahneko 2019-05-02 07:07

You did a good job! Great game, I loved playing it. Also it's a great idea for the theme :)

mutt 2019-05-02 07:16

Core platforming mechanics are actually pretty solid, though I was wish there was some kind of effects when you die (sound and particles.) Clever take on the theme.

digitallimestone 2019-05-02 18:25

@sarahneko @mutt

Thanks for the awesome feedback! It's great to read it!

xeke-death 2019-05-02 18:34

Fun platformer, but I would have liked some easier way to find the death traps. Needing 20 deaths while roaming around so much seemed to talk a long time.

The respawn mechanic was good, spawning a little way back.

digitallimestone 2019-05-02 18:49

@xeke-death Thanks! I think the difficulty was a bit hard, especially for the first level! For respawning, I just scattered loads of invisible spawn points around the place.

neowedge 2019-05-05 10:55

Interesting concept, but it can become a bit repetitive. Game feeling can be improved (maybe some blood particles when you die, and a beeter jump animationand some elements that help you to know where are you), as well as UX (give some feedback when you can't purchase something). Audio is very good ;). Good job!

digitallimestone 2019-05-05 13:39

@neowedge Thanks! I'll take that on board!

red 2019-05-05 16:50

Interesting way to match the theme but it seems like it would be more of a "death is currency" theme. I think trying to die 20 times to get to the second level is a bit much.

digitallimestone 2019-05-05 17:48

@red Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the difficulty curve is way too steep!

duke 2019-05-06 08:31

I like the core concept and your game was only the second game with the same premise (kill yourself to acquire currency). So that's a plus :) The controls very responsive and the gameplay very fluid. I couldn't use my speakers right now, so I won't grade the sound.

The main problem with your game is the lack polish in the art department and the level design and gameplay variety as a whole. The core concept can only work as a fun game if the deaths are either very creative and/or tied to some kind of puzzle and/or a progression system. Without it, the game will lack challenge and gets repetetive and boring very fast.

Regarding the art, it seems very basic and, like I said, unpolished. The pixel art seems to vary in raster size and even seems to stretch and skew on the character model. Also, making the sky static in the background or, even better, adding a parallax effect, will go a long way.

Hope you can use some of the feedback for further developing this entry or for your next one :) Keep up the work!

digitallimestone 2019-05-06 08:37

@duke Thanks! That's some really great feedback. :smile:

enjoy-the-tale 2019-05-06 09:41

The kill yourself to acquire currency it's a really nice concept! Well done! I had a hard time with the jump at first, bur after playing a while, it was better!

digitallimestone 2019-05-06 09:46

@enjoy-the-tale Thank you very much. I'm glad you liked it!

maoap 2019-05-06 10:09

Nice game, I liked the concept of exchanging deaths for things :) And the audio is great, good job. Controls are perfectly fine to control. However, what does acquiring costume actually do?

drskort 2019-05-06 10:26

That was a pretty nice concept ^^ I like really what you did with the theme ^^ The costume was a bit disappointing but the level design was every level new, which I really liked. The graphics are consistent, but maybe a bit too flashy. Also I don't get, why the character is always facing back when standing still + there are some pixels in the standing back sprite. The music was good ( I liked the chord progression ) but a better mix would have been nice ^^ because this way it became just loud D: Also the backgrounds of the levels (especially the last one) could have been larger ^^ My favorite level was btw. level 2 :o The game is really good but could use some polish ^^

digitallimestone 2019-05-06 11:21

@maoap Thanks for the feedback. The costume just changes the colour of the sprite which I agree is a little disappointing. :smirk: Thanks!

digitallimestone 2019-05-06 11:22

@drskort Thanks for the feedback. That's really useful and I agree with everything you've said. Thanks for the help! :smiley:

johnnysix 2019-05-06 12:39

Next time , some more landmarks or something ( like a marker at the 'death point' ) would be good, to figure out where to go next.

digitallimestone 2019-05-06 13:51

@johnnysix Thanks! Will do.

puppetmaster 2019-05-07 19:55

well implemented, i think it's great that there is a small intro, small hint where the next object is located would be useful, great little game!

digitallimestone 2019-05-08 15:39

@puppetmaster Thanks for the awesome feedback! If we ever make a post-jam, I'll definitely think about some sort of map-mechanic. :thumbsup:
